  • Hiking & Camping the Rimrock Loop in the Allegheny National Forest of Pennsylvania. We took our time on this one, soaking in the beautiful sights, eating delicious food, and enjoying good campfires. Dispersed camping is allowed throughout this area except along the reservoir where there are hike & boat in only developed campsites for a nightly fee.
On the first night we camped along the scenic cross connector trail which follows along a fork of Morrison Run as it meanders through moss covered boulders and rock chasms.
Day 2 we followed the fork down to Morrison Run which we followed downstream to the Allegheny Reservoir where we stopped for lunch. From there we continued along the loop until we reached Campbell Run where we would camp for the night. The Rimrock trail has been recently been rerouted away from Campbell Run so this area felt wilder as we saw a porcupine and heard many animals in the forest throughout the night.
Day 3 we finished the loop back to the car just as the rain began to set in. Overall a great weekend get away only 3 hours from Cleveland Ohio.
