  • In this video, I demonstrate how I made the Infinite Love Tee. This is a Discharged Design with a Portal on the back of the tee. After Discharging it with OWB, I rinsed and then Tie-Dyed it.
    This is a longer video, not an easy design, BUT, I do a lot of talking in it ... I tend to ramble and just say what comes to mind and this one I do point out a lot of things related to tie-dye.
    I will have another Infinite Love video that I am doing on a tapestry and explain more of the details.

    what's the benefit if using the out whtie bright instead of Bleach..? I assume the Bleach is just too harsh and destroys cotton?

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  2 года назад +1

      yes that is a big part of it, plus when you are done, you need to neutralize to stop that action.... with OWB, I just rinse it well and then can dye it
      Also, with bleach, I was not able to tie something like this design up and then just toss it in a basin of bleach solution and have it penetrate the layers of fabric like the OWB does .... I found bleach to only remove color from the top layers of fabric... so eventually I stopped using it... then I found OWB

    Well, done Mr. Tie Dye, I just cannot believe that hair Bow discharged on a Darkest slime Greene willing to be turning out the mostly lite bright colors into a Replicate HWI spiral... and that is the reasons why because I have being made it up. So anyway did you ever know how to make a lite orange color.

    I hope these aren't stupid questions.
    *Is it okay to discharge in the washer if you have a lot of clothes to discharge? The water in my washer gets really hot.
    * I know that you're not supposed to spin items with soda ash out in the dryer because it can cause fires,
    *is that also true for washing machines?
    *Would it be okay to add the soda ash into the last rinse and spin out all that water with the soda ash in it?
    Or do I have to do everything all by hand? I wouldn't ask but I have arthritis in both my hands pretty bad but I still want to do tie dying and I have quite a bit of clothes I want to discharge almost all greys.

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  Год назад

      to start with... there are no stupid questions ✌🏻🙏
      1. I have never tired doing a discharge in the washer... BUT, in my experience with OWB ... it works best with close to boiling water ... so I am not sure how that would work
      2. As for the Soda Ash ... you are correct about not drying tees that are soaked in soda ash in the dryer... as it dries, there is fine dust that can build, up over time, in the dryer .... I do my 'Spinning Out' in the washer ... right now I just squeeze most of the excess out with my hands, but some people use a Mop Bucket Wringer to get the excess out ... then I put the tees in the washer and set it to the Spin Cycle and spin out more of the soda ash so my tees are just damp ... BUT, one thing to check before doing this, see if your washer sprays water at the beginning of the Spin Cycle as this could dilute your soda ash... if it does, you can set the Spin Cycle to halfway and then spin out
      a while back when I was doing school events, I had two dedicated washers outside just for soaking and spinning... they were not connected to water... I would put the tees into the empty washer and then I would spin out the soda ash for the other washer over top of the tee and then let it agitate a bit and then I let them soak.... after 20 minutes, I would spin them out and just put the hose into the other washer ... so when doing school events, I could load one machine with tees, spin the soda ash into it and while they soaked, I could load the other machine with tees... anyways, this is an option, but you need space for the washers ... there are more options ...
      I too have a bit of arthritis in both my hands as well... so I try to do as little wringing as I can ... so most times when I am doing tie-dye, I pre wash my tees and then when they are done and still damp, I tie them up, then I add my dyes, then I add the soda sh over the top of the tee, let sit for a bit, then I flip and coat the other side, then I put on my rack in a tub and batch for 48 hours... the excess soda ash just drips out ... here is a video where I show using soda ash in this way : ruclips.net/video/rkmAQxOu52A/видео.html
      3. I am not sure I understood your 3rd question ... but you do not want to add soda ash to a rinse out ... it is what activates the dyes, so you do not want to activate them while you are washing them out or they may bond to the tee and give it a 'muddy' look ... soda ash can be used when doing a pre wash on white tees, and you soak in soda ash when you are ready to dye white tees (Although, if you want to add more dye to an already dyed tee, you will need to soak in soda ash, some dyes may leach out, so I soak dyed clothes in a separate basin and only add enough soda ash to cover them ... I call it an Over Dye : ruclips.net/video/CPI_23w6JkY/видео.html
      I hope this has helped, ask more questions if needed and I will help where I can ✌🏻💚🙏

    I was wondering if you've ever attempted to tie dye a design with a unicorn in it. My niece loves unicorns and I would love to be able to make a unicorn tie dye t-shirt for her.

    • @SPINNINGMYWHEELS777
      @SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 2 года назад +2

      I can see a type of Unicorn shape but you'd have to do some real work on that shape - you have to think of designs that work as a 'mirror' image to some degree. It might end up somewhat interpretive as the muzzle / head shape could be difficult to pull off.

    do you have a video regarding ice dyeing vs normal botle dyeing? for the region i'm in at least it's kinda hard to find powder dye and if there is it's utterly expensive in comparasion to normal powder dye price
