I was born in Barking and lived on the Heath park estate until I was nearly 13 years old. I was bought to Australia. I did not return to visit family until I was 36! Since then I crave my home of Dagenham in many ways. I explore it whenever I return and have visited Valance house a few times, its fascinating. LOL love Romford There is a charm that I am drawn to. Thank you for this glimpse, it gives much to be proud off. My father like hundreds of others worked at FORDS. He was there when the ladies went on strike. I have the movie based on it "Made in Dagenham" its fascinating. Mum work at May & Bakers... Thank you for this.

I went to Clack at the beginning of the 1970s most of my friends are from the Heath Park Estate. All of my brothers worked at Ford's at some time even my mother during WW2 . Me , I had different ideas and became an engineer/surveyor.

@@cliffhorman6846 Sat my O Levels in 1974 , played Rugby for the school as loose head prop , in the tug onwards team with all the other hard cases came over from Triptons Boys like Frankie Dilworth ( our hooker ) and Jeff Easthall . I was a likeable rogue as Davis hated me , but all the teachers hated Davis . I was late most mornings because I worked at the Dagenham Working Men's club as a bar cellar man , and I tried to find a different way into school to avoid the little man until I had a big argument with him and threatened to knock him out . Apparently the teachers Dickie Edmunds , Andy Stewart , Martin Bull , Joghin and Foxy heard the ruckus and were peeing themselves laughing . I used to paint the scenery and make stuff for the school plays too . I got on really well with the teachers especially my geology teacher " Miss S " and we ended up missing the last bus from Studland Bay during the geology field trip to Swanage and had to walk back to the hostel... I led a bunch of kids one dinnertime and stopped an invasion from Bishop Ward during the school fights . We were seen by one of the teachers from one of the upper floor classrooms with bricks and stuff from the new build 6 th Form block and reported to Davis who lined us up outside his office . We were expecting some kind of punishment but he actually praised us for upholding the pride of the school . Girls I dated included Tina Stephenson, Jackie Quarterly , Janice Richards, Barbara's Williams and Wilson , Metina Wyatt , Judith Andrews ...... and best mates from Heath Park Estate were Pete Morrad , Mark Lawrence , Andy Murphy, Stephen Williams ..... You may have known me as Malcolm . Does any of this ring a bell ?
