Del Mar is a beach city in San Diego County, California, United States, incorporated on July 15, 1959. Del Mar is Spanish for "of the sea" or "by the sea," which reflects its location on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The Del Mar Horse Races are hosted on the Del Mar racetrack every summer.
In 1885, Colonel Jacob Taylor purchased 338 acres (1.37 km2) from Enoch Talbert, with visions of building a seaside resort for the rich and famous. The United States Navy operated a Naval Auxiliary Air Facility for blimps at Del Mar during World War II. The population was estimated at 4,347 in 2018, up from 4,161 at the 2010 census.
The town has a wealthy population along the coast and the bluffs above the ocean. However, these properties are very vulnerable to climate change caused sea level rise and subsequent coastal erosion. Already transportation infrastructure has been under threat. The city has a Climate change adaptation plan that notably doesn't have any managed retreat strategy even though it was recommended by the state California Coastal Commission in 2019.

La Jolla is surrounded on three sides by ocean bluffs and beaches and is located 12 miles (19 km) north of Downtown San Diego and 45 miles (72 km) south of Orange County. The climate is mild, with an average daily temperature of 70.5 °F (21.4 °C).
La Jolla is home to many educational institutions and a variety of businesses in the areas of lodging, dining, shopping, software, finance, real estate, bioengineering, medical practice and scientific research. The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), is located in La Jolla, as are the Salk Institute, Scripps Institution of Oceanography (part of UCSD), Scripps Research Institute, and the headquarters of National University (though its academic campuses are elsewhere).

11:39 This is my favorite stretch of riding the coast line.. I try to drive this every visit. ohh...this part is such a hidden gem of southern Cali to me. This vibe delivers like no other. The way the sun hits that valley of that beach as well as the beauty of the sun reflecting off gorgeous golden colored rocks in the hills. 😍

Del Mar and the coastline to San Diego, I prefer this so much more than Malibu..
Zuma Beach to Point Mugu is a similar in north Malibu. Both are beautiful drives.
Such a shame southern Malibu allowed developers to build homes and business on the oceanfront blocking the views from the PCH.

Incredible video!! Thank you for posting it. I grew up in Solana Beach and went to Torrey Pines High School in Del Mar, so the section of this video from 1:27 - 10:40 I have biked so many times because I rode my bicycle to high school.
