- For possibly the first time in my motorcycling career, I timed something right! The Timmelsjoch in south western Austria was not only open, but also almost completely empty and bathing in glorious sunshine!

We rode it a few years back, thick fog & frankly terrifying. Returned two days later to bright sunshine & it was epic. Cracking video 👍😎 want to go back 😂

Niiiice one Andy, Makes me yearn more for the Alps n passes that i've missed so much since 2019 and this f' ing bug getting in the way of things, your vids have helped ease the pressure a titchy bit, but i really need that escape so understand totally ! as a fellow bikey mate of ours would say " live your life". cheers bud.
I can understand your pain mate. I literally got on it as SOOn as it was even slightly possible! Still, way less riding this year than I had hoped for. Glad I can help a tiny bit, but it's not the same to watch it, is it!

they put new asphalt on the road (italian side) during 2022. Still they made you pay on the Austrian side for crossing the pass....

Wow Andy - one of your best video's mate. The scenery, commentary, camera shots, made for a really good watch. Did you write that music at the end? I spent time in the Ziller valley skiing quite a few years ago, Must get back there again to ride next time! Fabulous scenery, been years since I've ridden in the Alps. So much snow!
I know right! Utterly amazing! It was already too long since I was last there. But then again, it's already too long now! :D
Seeing this video for the first time. Timmelsjoch was and is one of my favorit mountain passes. Sadly the museum on the top of the mountain burnt down. It is being rebuilt, but more than 100 unique motorcycles, all of them the only existing examples, are gone forever.
That is a real shame. I hope they can refill it with just as many specimens.

Gorgeous!!! Roads and scenery like that always make for difficult decisions, quicker and less scenery, slower and more scenery, or can I do this 2 or 3 times to do both? 🤔 At least I can watch this video again 🙄
Couldn't agree more Guy! This time I opted for the slightly slower approach. Later in the trip I opted a bit more for the do it several times scheme! Keeping it mixed up!

Wow!! was that an open manhole cover at the beginning of this video? ( I, kinda, expected to see Steve McQueen poke his head out ) Mind you, it would have been a hell of a long tunnel. It would give you a bit of a fright if you were going the other way on that road.
This was an extremely good ride with all those fantastic views - and you didn't get rained on. What a bonus!!
It was! I missed it at thew time, but couldn't leave it out of the video! Madness! Health and safety obviously hasn't reached Austria! The guy was just around the bend, but still, no signs or warnings of any kind!

At the 10:25 mark you said it was like riding in a fridge, however you had open sleeves and chest pockets in your jacket... that was funny!

It was utterly perfect. I've never known riding like it and I don'T think I will again. But then, given the circumstances, that's OK by me.

Hey! It was about 19 degrees C when I left Innsbruck, about 10-15 degrees at the top and then mid to high 20's on the other side in Italy.

I from Amsterdam and also go for a few days to Austria. After a night in Goldbach I’ll go via Grossklockner Alpine road to Heiligenblut for 2 days and than via Italy and the Timmelsjoch to Obergurgl. Next day 950km (boring) Autobahn back to Amsterdam on adaptive cruise control 😉

Super video Andy, slightly disconcerting view from the 360 cam when you enter the hairpins as it gives the impression that you’ve left the braking a bit late… eek! Stunning scenery though, have to add to the bucket list for a trip on my V7 at some point when Its easier to travel from Blighty. Keep up the good work and thanks for posting!

Great video. Brought back chilly, terrifying memories of being up there in late August a few years ago. Wanged around a bend quite enthusiastically to find two dozen goats in the middle of the road directly after the corner. Once my lower, lower, lower intestines recovered from that a few km later, I found myself quite unexpectedly on a dirt road after exiting a tunnel leaned over. An overpriced espresso in the cafe at the top restored my nerve for the icy ride back down. Looking back I'm sorry I didn't explore the museum at the top a bit more before the bloody thing burned down. Good times. Can't wait for the next video. They're firing me up nicely for the trip I've got planned to the Pyrenees next month.
That does sound QUITE terrifying! Glad you lived to tell the tale! Thankfully this was a little different, but I had honestly expected it to be a little more like your ride! :D

First of all, you make awsome and fun videos. ❤ I know a bit late, but you mentioned the name Untergurgl. The little town you pass through before you bent left to the Timmelsjoch used to be named Untergurgl, they changed it to Obergurgl some years ago.😊 . Amazing pass the Timmelsjoch .The italian side was an awfull road 40 years ago, but now better than austria side in my opinion. I drove the pass in the first week of juni this year on my Tiger 800. Was a blast.
