- I finally got around to this classic oldie. A very difficult song to do that required probably a week to actually perfect the new sound but I think 8 hours on this one was enough. I had to remix tracks or re-record them 5 different times. A lot of chord changes I had to learn. I divided the song into 4 sections so I could concentrate on layering instruments for a full dimensional stereo. Hope you like it! PS: Don't forget if you are one of those who enjoys these versions to make a donation cause this is hard work
making recording of this caliber and I get very little donations to my channel.
I put on the headphones for this one and wasn’t disappointed. Sounds great, especially the bass. 2:42 is always my favorite part, when Denny comes in early.
Took me many years to appreciate headphones. This song is an excellent example of how they help to catch the nuances not usually heard.
Glad that mistake was kept in. A lot of people crank it up around the 2:42 mark to hear it again!
that and the fade in start !!!
@@Cissy2cute my headphones are my best friend, next to my pc 😎
@@kelseymathias3881 It is amazing what one hears wearing headphones. Even an inexpensive pair makes listening to music a totally difference experience.
Music was so much better back then.
And yet another iconic bassline by Joe Osborn. Thank you for this mix, it’s fantastic!
Hal Blaine's drums really stand out in this version.
..> ** "I Saw Her Again" was inspired by Doherty's brief affair with Michelle Phillips, then married to John Phillips, which, combined with an affair between Michelle Phillips and Gene Clark of The Byrds, resulted in the brief expulsion of Michelle from the group. While mixing the record, engineer Bones Howe punched in the coda vocals too early, inadvertently including Denny's false start on the third chorus ("I saw her..."). Despite attempting to correct the error, the miscued vocal could still be heard on playback. Producer Lou Adler liked the effect and told Howe to leave it in the final mix.**
This version is killer on headphones!
Love this song. You always pick winners haha. Nice job.
Nicely enhanced. This sounds brand new again. I like the enhanced bass and treble especially. It used to be you really couldn't hear their hand clapping, now you can. Thanks for posting.
My all time fav growing up ... The sonics and balance are on point... Thank you once again. Stay Gold!
Certainly a contender for the greatest song with the worst original engineering. I once asked a friend in the business to explain why it was so bad. After listening for a moment he guessed that it was recorded for a monaural release, and then somebody tried to go back and create a stereo version from the tracks. What a mess. Big kudos for the heroic effort to improve this so much!
Got to keep in mind that this was originally recorded in 1966, and the recording technology back then was a far cry from how it is now.
Great job, Kenn ! This song brings back good memories !!
Lyrics:
I saw her again last night
And you know that I shouldn’t, yeah
To string her along’s just not right
If I couldn’t I wouldn’t, yeah
But what can I do? I’m lonely too
And it makes me feel so good to know
She’ll never leave me
I’m in way over my head
Now she thinks that I love her
Because that’s what I said
Though I never think of her
But what can I do? I’m lonely too
And it makes me feel so good to know
She’ll never leave me
Every time I see that girl
You know I wanna lay down and die
But I really need that girl
Though I’m livin’ a lie
It makes me wanna cry
I saw her again last night
And you know that I shouldn’t, yeah
To string her along’s just not right
If I couldn’t I wouldn’t, yeah
But what can I do? I’m lonely too
And it makes me feel so good to know
She’ll never leave me
But what can I do? I’m lonely too
And it makes me feel so good to know
She’ll never leave me
Every time I see that girl
You know I wanna lay down and die
But I really need that girl
Though I’m livin’ a lie
It makes me wanna cry
I saw her
I saw her again last night
And you know that I shouldn’t, yeah
To string her along’s just not right
If I couldn’t I wouldn’t, yeah
I’m in way over my head
Now she thinks that I love her
Because that’s what I said……
Amazing that improved sound makes the lyrics pop.
Great job! Their harmonies were to die for. Wish I could help you out. Have to wait for next pension check :( You do a huge amount of work and it is much appreciated.
Bravo🎸🎷🥁🎶
he is actually singing about fellow band member Michelle Phillips with whom ha was having a fling with. So sad that Mama Cass , who was deeply in love with him, had to sing this
❤️
When Disney had this song on it's DTV block, The Pluto short The Sleepwalker was featured.
Dope❤❤❤
I remember this originally playing on the radio (as a possible demo?). It didn't have the little instrumental interlude @1:48 because that part always chaffed me. Also Rolling Stone had extensive info on John Phillips drug use comparable to Belusi in the book 'Wired'. John was so upset with Michele he removed all her vocals from the master tapes, but I only noticed it during the 'Monterrey' film. You never know what the truth is if he was that bad a drug fiend.
Thank-you again Kenn -----------HOW do i donate to your work ? --------------MJL, 75 y/o
Love it thank u ❤🌻💯
2:43 That was a real mistake, but it was left in. The singer began the lyric a bit too early, but it was decided that it sounded good, so they left it that way.
I appreciate your attention
Thank a lot for this song
Please Herman's Hermits : Just a little bit better 😁
I worked with Michelle on the TV show "VEGA$" back in 1980. She was just the sweetest thing imaginable.
👌
The Bass on this is wow. LOL sounds amazing.

I love this version, where can we donate??
Hi. Here is a link to Kenn's "About" page. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll find a blue link that says "Donate to my channel". Click on it and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.

Okay so this is not going to be very popular comment I'm sure...but Kenn I think it's time to move this brilliancy over to Patreon. I'm actually very new here and found it by chance just last week looking up America best song "Tomorrow" to post on my Yacht Rock group. Since then I've perused all the great work you've done on some absolute classic tunes. I've also noticed your pleas for donations are getting more pronounced and deservedly so. The Patreon platform would "force" that to happen...and I think a lot would subscribe. I'm already a member of several people and certainly would for this. As a bonus, maybe you can find a playback medium that doesn't compress like RUclips's garbage algorithm?
If people can't fork out a dollar or two a MONTH then they don't deserve to hear your amazing talent-- many people lose more than that in that timeframe!
Hi Scott! I was not able to get a Patreon link on my page to work but I did get a "donate" Paypal link on my front page and at least I'm getting a little money to help me out. I was told that Patreon takes a big chunk of your earnings whereas Paypal does not.
Your last comment about "fork out a dollar" a month is my sentiment exactly.
With 52,000 subscribers--a buck each" would set me up for a whole year and I could buy some decent guitars instead of the trash I' m still using. What I see here is people want all this for basically nothing. If they can get it for nothing they don't care.
Only a handful of die hard oldies fans donate money to this channel. I for one don't like soliciting money anyway cause almost everyone does it these days but RUclips
monetizes almost every video I upload and takes all the money.
That leaves me all the work and nothing to show for it. That made me think of deleting the entire channel a few months back and the only reason I didn't was because I got encouragement from record, producers, recording engineers, radio disc jockeys and even original artists who love these versions. Some radio oldies stations even play these on their oldies shows and get excellent response. With 50 million hits so far I enjoy the audience I have established as a hobby. It keeps me from getting rusty and I get to produce something of value not found anywhere else. Kenn
@@cinematic35 Don't give up and don't give in to discouragement. You're doing something worthwhile, even if there's no money in it.
@@cinematic35 Don't give up Kenn, you are doing a fantastic job,I absolutely love listening to you channel
Only one word needed here, EXCELLENT......
Chills ... thanks Kenn for making my week !!!
Kenn, you should be a record producer and engineer.
I love this song. Thanks forposting, greetings from Mexico.
