Update: KTM doesn't make the Duke 200 anymore, It's now the Duke 250. It has about 5hp more and costs about $400 more. It still lands at #13 on the list as a solid B tier option. Cheers.
Would be interesting to see power to weight ratio used in these comparisons, as pure horsepower in lower cc segment might translate widely different in the real world, as these bikes get strained quickly by adding weight.
great video! i’m glad we got an awesome car reviewer to do bikes too. i already watch you all the time and i ride. So, watching your bike content is just as easy and definitely welcome! keep it up! its only a matter of time until the bike community gets pushed your content
I feel like something to note about Z500 vs Ninja 500 is that the Z500 has ABS standard, which is why the starting MSRP is higher than for the Ninja 500, which you can get without ABS (the Ninja 500 ABS is actually 100 more than the Z500)
As a Duke 390 owner it's a pretty good bike if the after sales service was good. personally if go back and want to buy under 400cc, I will go for MT03 or CB300 overall.
I hate the term Beginner Motorcycle. They are motorcycles that are suitable for beginners, but it makes it sound like they have training wheels on and is no way relevant to other motorcyclists. Ninja 400: best bike I ever sold.
I am a big fan of belt drive. When I bought a bike after not riding for 24 years I was after certain things. Fuel injection, ABS, no chain to maintain, and able to buy with cash. So I bought a 2003 BMW F650CS. I like small bikes. When I need to replace my bike I think I am going to go with a BMW G310GS. Unfortunately I will need to maintain a chain but other than that, it would be great. Peace from a motorcycle fan in Connecticut.
@@KKCycles I got that impression with how your reacted to the bike with a belt drive. Belt drive is nice because it is simpler than a shaft but still not the hassle of a chain.
The suzuki sx 250 (formerly a vstrom label), KTM 390 ADV (although often very expensive), kawi versys 400, himi 450, CF moto 450's mt are also great picks if they are available and in budget, The Honda CRF300L Rally would be much higher on appeal so the 3 is very fair. You could get a DR650 under 6000 from dealer if lucky, OH and the Honda CB500x mayybbeee ?
Next time you may want to rank more objective stats for beginners like ABS availability, maintenance intervals, consumer reports reliability scores, and customer ratings rather than your own subjective ideas about what bike is 'cool'. For example, beginner riders may like the looks of the KTM's, but that company is on the verge of bankruptcy due to their poorly built bikes, and abhorrent after sales support. I'm not sure many beginning riders are looking to dump $6000+ dollars on an unreliable money pit. Cheers!
I’m shocked you don’t like the rebel looks. They are the only cruiser I can stand to look at. Harley’s are pretty much all disgusting except for the new sportsters and the blacked out VROD
I agree about the Rebel line by Honda, so ugly and unappealing, even if the mechanicals are good. The GB350 blows away the Rebel in looks and style, and Honda could probably sell a bunch of GBs in different engine sizes.
Your Royal Enfield picks are all cool looking but I have to question whether a 20hp/400lb motorcycle is really appropriate or safe to operate on most US roads? I'd definitely wait for the soon to be released Guerrilla 450 roadster that uses their new liquid cooled 450cc/40hp engine. At the very least I'd encourage anyone interested in any of the 350's to some how arrange a test ride to make sure their comfortable with that level of power in traffic! Also worth noting current deals on CFMoto 450's and KTM Duke 390's make them over $1000 less expensive than the top rated Kawasaki 500's shifting overall comparative value!
@@KKCycles Both the Duke 390 and CFMoto 450SS are currently advertised for a little under $4500 in the Phoenix area, the 450NK was advertised for $3700 but I don't think there's any of those left, and though not a beginner bike the 100hp CFMoto 800NK's are listed @ $5999. I haven't seen any advertised deals on the Kawasaki's but definitely worth while snooping around looking for deals currently.

Also KTM I think declared bankruptcy? Which is too bad.
It still makes, at least in India

Bring in the GB350 to the USA!

Perfect 👀 I’ve been wanting a bike
I think the Vitpilen and Svartpilen 401s are the only bikes here that have adjustable suspension and quick shifter as standard equipment.

Thanks for sharing! I also despise chains. I'm trying to convince myself I can learn to enjoy keeping them in good condition

CAN YOU GUYS PLEASE PLEASE BRING THE CLC..TO CANADA PLEASE
5799 dollars Himalayan 450 in the USA and he s talking about the old one instead big yikes. best value motorcycle on the entire US market
I'll have to include the 450 for next year's video
@@KKCycles you mixed up the power figures. 411 himi only makes about 24Bhp
well done Kirk how's the dealer's stock? I'd be drooling looking for my first bike.
Stock is good for most bikes. Should be able to get what you want.
glad i stumbled across this.. kerb appeal??
Yamaha TW is a big fat -5 for curb appeal
thank you for the video ! Do you think W800 has enough HP to compete with RE , and Triumph ?
Absolutely
Also…weird that old version Himalayan was so high.
Yeah, my appeal for it boosted it very high. I still like it more than new himalayan 450.

Your power numbers for the MT-03 and R3 are wrong. They should be about 40hp. The torque numbers are off, too.
Care to elaborate? I see 42hp at crank, 36.7 @ wheel
Why the Aprilia 457 is not there?
bc of price?
That bike costs $6899. All the bikes here are under 6k
@@KKCycles common just put it on the list, thats just couple hundred more and its even on sale right now
So you could substitute the gb350 with it's big bore cousin the g400c from genuine. It's got a Honda clone engine.
Where's weight?
Next year I'll have to revisit with weight and do power to weight to dollar ratio
The Honda GB350 appeals to me , but any of the RE models would scratch the same itch.
i don't get why skip 650s from royal enfield.
They were more than $6k. The 650 bikes are incredible

YES. Honda's Rebel line definitely looks stupid! I can't see how people aren't embarrassed to be seen on them!
🙃
i have a couple of friends with the 1100 rebel. Gotta say in person the 1100 looks good. The beefiness helps a lot

GB350S need to have at least 30hp
