I was a plumber in new orleans after Katrina and me and the plumber who taught me found all the cleanouts in that place for the city and FEMA to close off to prevent backwash and debris flowing into the main line. Even then it was extremely creepy, the feeling of forboding and sadness from the hurricane was thick everywhere you went. We had guards and FEMA folks with us the entire time but they were pretty cool. There WAS good fishing there and we even fished while there and the guards joined us, even led us to some nice spots. There was a spot that due to the flooding and storm surge was FULL of blue crabs we caught on chicken legs in pantyhose and a metric ton of speckled trout and even some redfish. I can guess that area long since receded over the years. That pond/lake had some huge bass and giant gar you could catch and pretty big slab bluegill. Hi from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦. Really enjoyed your video. You're nuts to be walking the Mega Zeph like that. So unsafe and dangerous. I didn't see the gator. Glad you got off the coaster safely.
I used to sneak In there in 2008-09 FUN TIMES!!!!!! For a scavenger hunt once, we had to go grab the “you are here sign”….. we grabbed both so the other teams couldn’t get those points!!! Still got ‘em!
I remember going here before 6 flags bought it. Jazzland! The pirate simulator ride about the defense of New Orleans with Jean Lafite was awesome! I would love to visit it now looking like that!
Our Six Flags (I still think of it as "Marriott's Great America" for tat is what it was called when I first visited it with my father the year that it opened, the Bicentennial year of 1976!) has a pond of water near the huge triple-arm ferris wheel. I forget the actual name of the ride, because we always just called it "The Birdcages," because that's what the cars look like. Each "Birdcage" can hold about eight people sitting around the circumference of the car, facing eachother. Anyway, this pond of water is fairly expansive and if I were to guess where fish were in that park that pond would be my first choice. I remember that body of water because for a few quarters, I could pilot a radio-control boat around the pond!
Yes it is! It is now called "Six Flags Great America" in Gurnee, IL. It is about a 30 min. drive north of Chicago. More or less 1/2 way between Chicago, IL & Milwaukee, WI. I used to be Quality Assurance Manager at a food plant in Gurnee, where we made rollup & panini sandwiches for Barnes & Noble bookstores and the Kraft "DiGorno" 6" rising crust & Thin & Crispy Crust pizzas. From the top of our fifty (50) foot tall flour silo, I could see the tops of the rides at Great America! 😁
As a fisherman, you might be interested to know that in the "Gurnee Mills Mall," is an absolutely fantastic "Bass Pro Shops" store. I actually feel odd calling it a "store" because it is so much more than that. It is a "showplace" of taxidermy mounts. It is a backpacking shop, a bait shop, an aquarium, a gun shop & a shooting range. Truly an outdoors man's dream. When I lived nearby, I would go there simply to take it all in. I could spend two (2) hours in there and still not be bored! 😊 If you ever have a chance to visit a Bass Pro Shops store, I highly recommend it, but leave your wallet at home! Otherwise, you might not be able to buy food the next month! 😂
I jumped the fence to explore this park and take some pictures and I immediately got caught by security. Unmarked pickup truck, pretty hostile. The guard gave me 10 seconds to jump back over the fence before they called the cops
as a kid used to sneak in to fish a pond that was in the middle of a racetrack on a state fairgrounds when the fair wasn't going on. Big Bass. The groundskeeper would run me off but I'd always go back.
I pass this place all of the time! I hang Billboards for a living so I travel past there going to Mississippi and Slidell and you have swamp all around that place! If you can get to the back of the park where the water and swamp is you can catch some huge bass because nobody ever goes back there fishing! A friend of mine snuck back there with his kayak and he caught 3 lbs and a 6 and a half lbs bass including a bunch of 1 and 2 pounders! There's also plenty of deer and Gators and hogs all over back there and because no one is hunting them it's really over populated! Some of the deer have deformities from inbreeding! Some years ago the city let some hunters go back there to hunt some of the deer and hogs to knock the population down but there's so many back there they didn't even make a dent in the population! But the fish are basically the same because nobody ever fishes back there! I hear someone just recently purchased the park but they are doing away with the rides! Peace out!

I live in Houston. They pretty much completely dismantled that one.
@@wildlifefishingshow I live here too but I haven’t gone to that area for a while. And when I do drive past there, I don’t tend to look in that direction anymore so I didn’t notice that it was all dismantled. Shame. After I watched your video, I immediately thought of doing the same thing lol man there was so much water there! Anyway, good content man, subscribed.
they tried to recreate the original roller coaster from the lake pontchartrain days, they got it all wrong, my dad made a 8mm film years ago when they announced it was going to be closed and it was nothing like they built there.
Sounds disappointing
Awesome video Payton. Love the theme park videos
Thanks, I had a lot of fun making this one!
I heard that they are going to rebuild it and open back up
I would be shocked if that actually happened
I had a similar dream I went into an abandoned cabin and saw a pond out back with huge Largemouth Bass and just when I casted my line I woke up 😔
I love the abandon places. I wouldn't mind if you just explored and didn't fish. Catching fish added the cherry on top.
👍👍🙏🙏🙏 anak Kalbar hadir bang 🙏
Your crazy climbing on that rollercoaster if you went down they wouldn't find you.
My wife knows where I'm filming
@@wildlifefishingshow you're a beast
The amount of graffiti I doubt anyone patrols that death trap
I actually walked around the corner into a guard car, but they didn't see me so I ducked away
