ISLE OF DOGS tells the story of Atari Kobayashi, 12-year-old ward to corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. These feral dogs are surprisingly civilised, they all agree to at least look at what’s inside the sack first before tearing each other shreds, the winners allow the losers to walk away with just a warning and the injured dog doesn’t even hold a grudge over losing an ear, just shrugs and accepts it as the consequence of battle, these are honourable canines here.
I mean, you don't have to be civilized to not want to get into a fight to the death(possibly) over nothing. I think...
Basically, a true utopia as what humans should be. Where the strong doesn't beat up the weak more than necessary and the weak gracious enough to accept defeat and learn from it.

Wes Anderson has done stop-motion animation before, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and that's kinda the rule with stop motion is you don't really need any computer generated effects. just simple green screen if needed.

WCPMachines Yep. That's what is so great about Wes Anderson movies. I love that I can watch Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, and Darjeeling Limited, Royal Tannenbaums, Rushmore, and the others over and over finding new things to love each time. All his movies blow my mind.

It's almost funny how the dog who got his ear torn off doesn't seem to be all that upset about it, but waves it off. I'm guessing ever since he was abandoned on the island, he knew there would come a day when he would lose a part of himself forever, and had already accepted that. In real life, he would be whimpering in pain while another dog stayed by his side loyally.

What an AMAZING introduction to the main characters! The music thumping and the head tilt of Chief, letting you know hes the boss. The blue tint that surrounds them. Those drums..... Fucking perfect. One of the most hype introductions Ive ever seen. This movie is amazing.
I love how only until he mentions the gizzard they stay calm but when he says it, that's when they start to attack each other.
Wes Anderson is simply a mastermind. This is literally one of the funniest events I've seen in 30 years. It was perfect. The symmetry scene showing everything makes it funnier.
The voice acting in this movie and Fantastic Mr. Fox are the biggest reasons why i love both movies

Okay, i already had my interest of seeing this, cause love the style wes anderson visions of animation. But GOD DANG THE MUSIC IS BEAUTIFUL. Moment i herd those drums and flute playing got my heart pumping and head moving my head to the beats. It is magnifique. I'm getting my ticket and buying the soundtrack and this clip is enough for us to know of what we are gonna be in for when we all see this film. 0:16 to 0:22 felt like a somewhat out of a movie from the spaghetti western genre. To me that is.
Watch Akira Kurosawa's Dreams. Pretty sure a lot of this one is a reference to that.

I mean while I can watch it, its unnerving even to watch fictional animals get harmed. Its different from a nature doc where its just how life is. If I can i dont want to have to see even fictional animals endure harm like that but thats just a creative decision made by the filmmakers. The film overall could be good and I may like it even if I dislike the violence. Though I imagine for a general audience person the violence will be what will make people not want to see it which is a shame.

+The Flying Lion i don't want movies or tv shows lying to me about the reality of violence, when they do i lose interest sorta. if it wasn't for seeing saving private ryan at 10, I wouldn't be as against war as I am. I'm all desensitized to fake violence like most westerners, but virtual violence still teaches you or prepares you for what it will look and feel like. There is NO ONE forcing you to watch this and there's never going to a moment in our lifetime will people stop mirroring reality into their art. Art is a reflection of our times and where our collective imagination is at. For now, we're a violent species, we're going to express it everywhere until humans grow up and become the Type II civilization they're destined to become.
The soundtrack really makes this scene spectacular
The level of calmness from each pack is as impressive as it is unsettling, as if they're used to these kind of encounters

I saw the movie yesterday at Berlinale, and it is absolutely beautiful. The music and animation are amazing and the story is fast paced and interesting. An absolute must see! Wes Anderson at his best
