Chris Hunt UK You'll probably never see this now, but your video on the petersham waistband was EXACTLTY what I was looking for to alter my skirt. Cheers.
As my mentor Roberta Carr taught me, SHAPE the grossgrain ribbon first before applying so you have a kinda like your waist. I have been using this ribbon for many years, with great success. Peasy peasy, but shaping the ribbon first will really help to fit the waistband to your body :)
Thanks for this! I actually have a sewing pattern that calls for a grosgrain ribbon waistband but I was left a little confused by the instructions, so helpful to see it demonstrated.

Thank you so much, what a great idea! It's so good that you share all this knowledge that I might otherwise never learn about. I started sewing a few years ago ,but making quilts. Now I have recently been sewing my own clothes and that is a whole different ball game! But I have learned so much from your tutorials , so just wanted to thank you ☺ I made the skirt with pockets ( in fact I made two) also made myself a jacket and quilted the lining inside. .I live in England - you seem to have such great fabric shops over there.😀

great tips thanks for sharing. . often i dont have matching fabric to make a waist band or need ot alter it now i know to use the ribbon. fun . Im going to try colors on plain skirts and pants

what needle do you usually use in sewing grosgrain.
a universal needle size 12 will work
