Wonder what your cg is set at as i see alot mentioning it needs to be 130mm from LE
Also add 1-2mm up aileron on both wings to add abit of washout

I hope it can be fixed. I stalled mine on takeoff on the second flight and totalled it. I got another one and I think I’ve mastered it pretty much now.

All it really needs is new motor boxes in the wings. The plane itself is pretty much undamaged. I just ordered new nacelles. Hoping to locate the boxes, if not I can probably repair the broken ones to work. This plane is one the back burner for now though. Too many other projects in the works. 😁

@@tennriverluver3534 I disagree. This plane has a nasty reputation. You get one chance to plant it and that's it.

Aw, crap. Nice flight until the stall. Get er fixed and do it again. Very pretty plane! I really miss my 1.2m Mossie that crashed into the ocean on a bad battery.

Well that’s a damn shame .. I’m sure u were aware of the stall tendency in this particular mossi I read and watched a fair bit when I nearly pulled the trigger on one last year .. I also ended up selling my 82’ DH88 commet due to the same tip stall issue with the wing design .. I did notice a lot of owners were warping the wing tips under weight and heat over time to try and soften the washout ..

I learned about this plane 10 minutes AFTER I ordered it and regretted my decision. It will fly again however at least 1 more time lol.

Hey bud looks a lovely model but like a lot of warbirds landing looks a pita. Hope it is not too damaged 🙏🏼 new supporter here my friend 👍🏼

Thanks and yes I knew especially this particular model was going to be a major challenge to land. Learned about this birds issue 10 minutes after ordering it a couple of years ago and immediately regretted having ordering it. Damage is easily repairable and it will fly at least one more time lmao. This one has to be flown really fast to the ground or it will stall. Much faster landing than any of the other 120 planes I own.

@@tennriverluver3534 haha yeah I thought you was coming in hot and it still tipped 🤣🤣🤣I had the fms p40 warhawk thing was a nightmare to take off if you didn't have right rudder it would torque roll to the left and destroy itself hahaha used to scare the crap out of me that plane 🤣🤣🤣👍🏼good times tho 👊🏼

This is the characteristic of a highly tapered wing-it will tip stall when flown too slowly. Yes, there is a term called tip stall. In highly tapered or swept back wings (typical jets), the tip of the wing stalls before the rest of the wing, resulting in what is commonly called a snap which causes one wing to violently drop and then your plane does a spiral dive that can be unrecoverable if it happens at low altitude (as in a landing approach). The ailerons are ineffective in a tip stall because they are located in the stalled part of the wing (the tips). This is much different than the stall that happens in rectangular wings-in these wings, the root stalls before the tip so you still have good aileron control and typically there is no wing drop to one side as in a tip stall.
Therefore, your typical warbirds that have tapered wings and high wing loadings must be flown with plenty of speed, and on landings they must be flown all the way to the ground, with just enough flare to keep the nose slightly up (about 3 or 4 degrees).

Very well aware of this. And this particular model is at the extreme end of this compared to many other Mosquitos.

I would double the washout to 3-5mm on a bird this size. And for gods sake, use flaps, for more lift.

    • @tennriverluver3534
      @tennriverluver3534  6 месяцев назад +1

I had full flaps and ailerons are up about 5 degrees. Eventually I'll get around to repairing the broken motor boxes (only real damage) and give her another whirl. Considering adding some 3D printed vortex generators as well.

  • @davepatrick9905

Vortex generators do NOT work on models like they do on full size aircraft due to low renolds number. Consider your set up and flying technique. It would appear you simply had too much elevator throw from watching your video. MORE is NEVER better on this type of aircraft. Too many planes are set up with extra throw in case I need it I can always go to low rate. This lowers system resolution and is a formula for disaster. Properly set up expo is also STRONLY recommended. I have flown many scale models, wining Top Gun in Florida a few times seen it all :-)

It on my list to be repaired soon. All that's broken was the motor/landing gear box that bolts into the wings. Fairly easy fix if/when I get around to it. Have new nacelles but haven't been able to get new boxes so they will have to be repaired. I'll use the broken nacelles om the next few flights if it survives before installing the new replacements lol. I should have just gone around because my approach was horrible but I didn't know how much battery I had left and I had a spinner rubbing badly on a nacelle as well. Hindsight is 20/20. Got lucky it's easily repairable.
