- This video describes the working principle of the cylinder escapement.
The cylinder escapement, invented by Thomas Tompion in 1695 and perfected by George Graham in 1726 was one of the escapements which replaced the verge escapement in pocketwatches after 1700. A major attraction was that it was much thinner than the verge, allowing watches to be made fashionably slim.

Really interesting escapement that I’d never seen before. Your models are awesome!
Thank you very much for your kind comments
The first watch I serviced was a pocket watch with cylinder escapement.
Gotta be a crazy amount of wear incurred by this one compared to most of the others you've modeled.
That's right, frictional rest escapements have a lot more friction than the modern detached escapements.
Hello I just wonder what material is this made of? And how was it manufactured?
Hello, some of the components are laser cut plexiglass others are metal made by machine tool
Is it possible to buy any of your models?
sorry, these models are not for sale, thank you for your understanding
@@Waterpearl_escapement okay, I have been looking for similar models without any success so far. I would love to have it in my room as a demonstration piece and I also believe that it would be amazing if schools could have some of your models, they are fantastic. Congrats!
