- The ocean is an incredible place - let's keep it that way! Join us as we hunt for sustainable seafood. In this Miami episode, we sit down with spearfisherwoman Lauren Sarasua to learn about what motivates her to catch her own fish by spearfishing. From avoiding bycatch, to the ecstasy of being in the water - there are many reasons that shooting her own fish is her preferred way to get seafood. We talk about the different things you need to think about as a spearfisher.
But finding markets and restaurants that source local seafood in Miami can be tricky. Lauren Sarasua and host Sarah Curry visit Shore to Door fish market in Coconut Grove Florida. This market works hard to source local fish, when possible.

I admire you so much, I couldn't agree with you more on your view of the Oceans!! There's something about the ocean and the wildlife! Man I'd love to visit the Shore to door one day, looks like a great place to hang out and enjoy the wonderful seafood! Hopefully I'll have my sailboat restoration done by winter, and find my way there one day! My sailboats name is HONU she a classic Falmouth Cutter!

In the Mediterranean (in Italy) we often eat whole fish and, I must say, it generally tastes different than ocean fish, it's tasty and less stringy... ;)

Unfortunately the majority of trash in the Ocean comes from people littering on land. Wind and rain wash the trash into storm drains, canals and rivers and carried out into the Ocean.

@@LaurenSarasuaLauren, you are right about some of the trash. However, quite a bit comes from large ships and cruise ships. They dispose of their trash overboard in the middle of the night when no one is watching. Unfortunately, I have seen this myself. Despicable!!
