The market is not competitive because the only competition they got are from luxury EVs. Now if Chinese EVs are allowed into North America, then they have to drop prices or fold.
And there's the problem. Stellantis can't make a profit on them even at the ludicrously high price they were sold at. It's about time they got rid of their clueless CEO. He blows hot and cold, changing his mind every time he makes an announcement.
You're not a fan of the CEO are you Roger. Just a guess :) You aren't the first person to say this mate actually. A few people have mentioned this in my videos.
Traditional auto makers are too addicted to their massive profit margins, old ways and lack of foresight or future planning. Sub €20k is the forbidden zone for them.
Eh? Fiat never sold a car > 20000 EUR in their lives! Their Profit was always meh. This one does not fit in rhe Fiat line up as it is out of a Fiat buyers price range.
They made enough money to pay the CEO $25m in 2021, and this year they just got paid another $41m for their hard graft. The CEO for Toyota was paid a mere $10.9m. So I do wonder if they could lower the price of the Fiat 500e a tiny bit. I think they could.
The 500e was always going to be expensive because they insisted on a stand alone platform. The logic was, that it would perform better if it were less compromised than if it were using an adapted ICE platform. This is a ridiculous idea in modern day car production unless you’re guaranteed to sell 100,000s a year. Platform development is expensive and they’re obviously feeling the pinch. The eC3, grande panda idea is the way to go. Low cost proven scalable platforms that can also carry hybrid power trains. Renault is doing the same with the R5/R4/Twingo, using a modified clio platform with upgraded suspension. There is money to be made from small EVs, even ones built in Europe but the packaging, printing and appeal has to be right.
Well, you're informed aren't you. I personally thing the new Renaults will be nice, and the eC3 is fantastic, but to sell people a car with a battery in it, which can't heat or cool itself in 2024 is a bit of a bad deal for the consumers. Not overly bad in cold climates I suppose, but in hot climates, the batteries with cook like there is no tomorrow.
@@TheChargeShow They may cook but as far as I know the chemistry of the LFP batteries mean that chances of fires are greatly reduced over lithium ion batteries. That said the cold weather drop off is usually more. Not great for where I live in the nordics but fine for most south of Carlisle. And the upside is they're a heck of a lot cheaper and last a whole lot longer.
Wanted to lease one for my wife since they do actually look really nice and drive decent but got her a ford kuga plug in hybrid instead for half the monthly cost… Waaay overpriced otherwise Id get one
I think it's because the origins of the Fiat 500 come from a place of modesty and simplicity. There are quite a lot of comments agreeing to the price being too high so it's clearly not a one sided argument. Nice car, but that price has to come way down.
I have just looked up the prices of the 500e and they are expensive. They are a bit too small to be practical and I presume that they must be sold as a second car. Even though I am after an EV, I wouldn't get a 500e. But there again I don't think I would get anything that Stellantis make.
My 500e was the cheapest electric convertible I could get and it fits in my garage. Convertible and under 4.10 meter long are my most important criteria. Yes, for the price I could have got a base Model 3 but this is no convertible and too long for my garage. 😂
I got a Fiat 500 because it was only 3 years old and £129 per month. I then got. Brand new Arbarth in 2018 for £179 per month. That’s a cheap car and I love them. Now you can’t buy a new Arbarth in petrol and the range is soo poor I couldn’t have one even if I wanted to over pay for a small car. I live in the middle of nowhere and couldn’t not charge at home
@@TheChargeShowThey were both petrol and loved them as cars. They were great on a budget, fun to drive, easy to park and loved the Arbarth I had as it was grey and red.
If china company made this car (fiat 500e) it would only cost $9.000. Not $34,000 shit. Chinese EV cars are very dominant in emerging markets . Than this western expensive car I Better to buy geely panda mini ev $5.500. BYD seagull $9.900 BYD Dolphin $13,865 Xpeng Mona M03 $16.880 Xiaomi SU7 Standard Version $29,872.
Expensive toy for what it is, but gonna likely buy the 500e Arbarth here in AU (in the coming months) as a second car (and my first EV), just for city puttering round. As much as I respect the engineering of Tesla's, I have modest needs and simply want something quirky, fun and ultra rare in a sea of Tesla's and BYD's here in Sydney. Here's a fresh sub and keep up the great work!
That's awesome, and they drive amazing. You will love it in Sydney for puttering around the city. There are some nice driving roads there too. Let me know when you get one and send me a picture :)

EU AND US SHOUDLS TOP PRODUCING EVs, allow chinese to make them, but make by EU standards. Let the china polute their country and so on, and we just buy already created car at good price, not like now when USA added 100% tarif on Evs!!!! 100%!!!! instead of ejoying cheap evs they make then unaffordable to buy.... and if someone buying they buy for pretty high price car that will not last 5 years..becaus eit's chinese...

Yeah, it's hard to really argue with that. It's nice but they're asking too much for it. So many people agree it seems.
I have one and can't believe how good it is to drive. Would throughly recommend.
It must be the only car you ever drove or FIAT dealership is the clisest to your house
You do get that the price is beyond what you get for your money. Like what you like, just be logical on value.... which the fiat500 is not
I love that a horologist watched my video. What you do is amazing. :)
Totally agree...fantastic little car.
Why should this tiny EV cost as much as a mid-spec Camry Hybrid or a Tesla? Its insane.
Why not?Its small so the price is OK!

I didn't expect a message from Meg Griffin :D When you got the first two Fiats that you mentioned, were they petrol or electric?

I dont see the point of EVs, the amount of dirt and minerals you have to dig up to make one battery is insane, the cost is stupid.

$35k is a joke
The 500e is quite a good second hand buy and a good city car.

As long as you don't car the car will be worthless and no resale value.
