The Dai people call it “Bilangdao” or “Boū Nàm Dao” which means “Blow Water Gourd.” It is from Yunan province but the Hulusi is most common in areas near the region capital of Xishuangbanna, or “Sip Song Panna” which means “12 thousand rice fields.” Just a little more about this wonderful instrument. It is also free reeded, just like the “Khean” or “Khaen” which is the cousin to the Chinese equivalent called the “Sheng”.

Hulusi, the one instrument that captured my imagination during my 2nd time in China....personally, I prefer it against backdrop of ocean waves/sound of sea...esp at night times.....
