Played as Songhai and didn't even touch Mali and they were still completely losing. Lost half of their country to revolts and constant Sunni zealots that weren't even converting the country. Ngl, found Songhai to be quite boring. Thought the dev diaries mentioned a lot of stuff about religion, but all I saw was new muslim mechanics that make it super easy to have extra bonuses.
They have changed 2 things - from what I can see - since this playthrough. Namely what you need to restore Zimbabwe. You now need tech 4 in admin and diplo in order to build a marketplace and temple. THEN you can colonise the cape. This makes things a tad slower but not a LOT slower
Cape has always been 15 dev if I'm not mistaken. The neighbouring 3 dev province of Roggveld is actually a great starting position for the "Ideas Guy" achievement.
6:05 Just an FYI: you don't have to get rid of your advisor. When the event fires just fire your advisors, take the 200 points option and then re-hire the advisors.
For anyone who is interested in keeping the advisors when the "radical reform" event triggers: You can boot both advisors, then take the 200 admin + diplo points, and then hire them again (since they won't leave your pool when fired in the normal way)
Cool update/dlc you are forced to play africa bcs playing Austria now gives you 1000 AE for forcing PU over bohemia and becouse of that you cant finish austrian mission tree.
There were rumours in Europe of a really powerful, Christian and rich African nation led by a certain "Prester John". It actually was one of the objectives of the Portuguese explorers, to find them and make an allience and do a crusade. I guess this is it except it isn't Christian

The dev for every building placed is cool but I think it wears off after a while because I no longer see any dev being added. Idk if it's a bug or not.
Does destroying buildings that gave dev when built take that dev away? Because one thing I am wondering is if it is possible to build a building, destroy it, build it again, and repeat for multiple development points.
Would it be possible to build say a workshop, get the +1 production, then delete the workshop, rebuild it, get +1 again, rinse and repeat. I feel some exploiting coming in this area..

So I can't like 😔
Cool.

Only Sardinia Piedmont toothpaste can compete with Zimbabwe color perfection
I don't disagree but Kaabu (sp?) pink is pretty amazing.

It's a lot of fun, just make sure you have all the dlcs and don't play for PUs lol

mfw pus have equivalent ae as full annex
