As a guy... I am not afraid to admit that I own the DVD and soundtrack! This and Saint Elmo's fire, breakfast club, and 16 candles struck a chord w/ me!
I SWEAR this movie is epic. No Disney bullshit, real truth behind how a relationship unravels, repairs, the compatibility test, the hurdles, balancing your job and family, the lifestyle you had before a relationship, the nasty jealous friend, those wonderful conversational nights, quiet nights, the intensity between love, hate, disgust, trust, honesty, heated arguments, when the guy finally realises how lucky he is.
18 year old guy and in love with this movie and the soundtrack. Demi Moore in this is unbelievably attractive, what my dream girl would look like. The remake to this makes me wish I grew up in the 80s😂😂
Rob Lowe + Demi Moore = The most ultimate perfect love team/couple ever in the history of romance movie I've ever watched!!! I wished that they had been together for life... the're so cute
@@Ride_on54 Yes, because what people look like and what people behave like are two totally different things. Looks have nothing to do with their intelligence, or their beliefs, or their lifestyle, or their ability to relate to others, or what their interests are. Only the extremely immature would ever think that looks are the basis of determining the quality or potential success of a relationship. That’s kids stuff. Little kid’s stuff. Like kindergarten kid’s stuff.
This film has got to be number 1 for sure. From start to finish, its just brilliant. The male perspective is so crucial, brilliant acting all the way through.
A truly great scene from a totally awesome movie. Maybe one of the best/most accurate depictions among contemporary 'relationship films' ever. And yes, one of the best 'love story' movie endings ever. I just saw John Waite in a small show/concert tonight and that's sort of what reminded me of this ending (his song featured in the closing credits etc.).
They were so beautiful and real. I’m the same generation as these two. I wish them well as they approach the third act I wonder where they pulled this from. I cried at this movie when it first came out
Favorite scene from my favorite move. How in the world could anyone remake this with Kevin Hart. This scene hits a nerve with most everyone. Love lost. Love that never happened.
I remember falling in love with Chicago, Ill after this Movie. I have Family down there and I visited them on a Stopover to The West Coast. I would have loved to have gone all over the place.
I showed my g- grandmother this and she saw this in theatres and said everyone in there was yelling " Get back together!!" lol. I was too when I saw this !
Don't fret, people. The ending (cut out of this clip, for some reason) implies that they do get back together. So all's well that ends well. They are a ridiculously good looking couple.
@@hiskelogtens664 Yeah that's HBO for ya in the 80s. Been a huge The Outsiders fan all my life since I was 3. So when I saw all those stars careers take off at that time I gravitated towards their movies. Youngblood, The Hitcher, Karate Kid, Red Dawn, Dirty Dancing, Top Gun, Drugstore Cowboy, About Last Night, Tex, St Elmos Fire, About Last Night, Soul Man, The Breakfast Club. Used to love to catch the nude scenes in this movie...lol
You are right, they talk about getting together for dinner, etc., afterward, so yes this is not the true end of the film, but I love this part, which is so bittersweet and real. The viewer can either remember what happens next or leave things still very much up in the air...
yes he says can they get together for dinner sometime and she says yes he says i know of this great new place...she says new place? Lets just go to some old joint...then she says im going to ride off into the sunset now, he says mind if i watch?? she says "I was hoping you would..." gosh how i love this movie
Yes! Back in the 80s my sister and I had an apt. together and before we went out we would always play the soundtrack from this movie, while we did our makeup and got ready. Now we are in our 50s and we listened to it tonight for old times sake. This was our favourite movie of all time.
This scene would have beem better if Rob Lowe actually shed some tears when Demi revealed she was really happy when they were together. That would have given the scene more emotional impact.
Agree with Linda Vee, Rob Lowe's character didn't exhibit much in the way of emotions throughout the movie, probably because um, he's the guy in the relationship? Lol...I thought he played the reaction perfectly. I am glad you noticed the key moment, for me, in the film...
+Will White Haha. What does emasculated mean? Not a word I am familiar with. Perhaps I am wrong and the audience would have been totally shocked if Danny started crying!
@@alanchong7513 Look it up. It’s OK for a man to cry, but his character would need something a lot more intense to warrant crying, like someone dying in his arms. It calls for a warm and gentle, but strong reaction, as it was played. Crying for just that would be emasculating.
7 years later, sorry, but no I really only wanted to capture this part of the scene, for anyone going through the realization of true love lost...but yeah, "let's just go to some old joint" was a great actual ending, you're right :)
Rui Pinto Danny/Rob: I really think that it was the best thing around. Debi/Demi: No. Maybe if we'd gone slower. Danny/Rob: No. It was me... I uh... I think I thought it was going to be different.
I just finished watching this movie and I simply couldn't watch it all the way through without fast forwarding at certain points. Rob's character was so soft it hurt me watching as a guy. Perhaps it is Rob's baby face and the fact I never seen a movie of him prior to this one. But the whole time I was thinking, grow some balls dude. Well Demi = Demi, she hasn't changed a thing, still fancy her...
Lowe doesn't show enough reaction when Moore reveals she was really happy. He just sort of quivers a bit. It needed stronger reaction. What do other people think?
@@robertwallace3229 I don't feel that at all. He's totally in control of his emotions here. I think a greater outpouring would have been a better reaction. A more realistic reaction. Rob Lowe is literally the most beautiful person I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Totally agree with how completely realistic the movie is in portraying love and relationships, thank you for this:)
Selina Davis well put
You couldn't have said it better.
Good Words. All toi said is true.

great movie! great performances from lowe, moore, belushi, perkins. grew up in Chicago, so I'm a little biased. wonderful memories.
such a realistic movie. So much like my first love and I..
The cubs rooftop scene before it got crazy!

Beautiful acting by both thespians.
I sometimes forget that Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia have a strong Irish Population.
@MegaDragonfly64 Thanks. Now that I live in Chicago, I'll have to run down there and take a look.
I CRIED
That's how it's suppose to be...sparkly
For superficial people looking for a short term relationship, sure.
muito bom
This was not the final scene. It left out the best part and left the wrong impression of the ending.

This dude is definitely more beautiful than her🤔
Yes, indeed he is!
@AmandaLpz oh thank God
Watching it now, it's pretty cringey, but at the time, I was all about it!
the scene should have lasted another few seconds when she is shown walking away then they say one more line to each other.
I have watched it a few times. very good. I was raised in Chicago so I really enjoyed the downtown scenes.

nah there's a few more minutes...he calls out asking her to dinner and they essentially agree they'll try again :P

downtown chicago by the lake
Grant park
Grant park before all the softball was removed. Awesome leagues down there in the 80s/early 90s. Awesome backdrop of Randolph Street buildings!

Sometimes it takes balls to be soft and let that side show, and not hide behind a front. A real man is multifaceted, and lets all those facets shine.
Not sure why they didn't let Bernie and Joan get together, you could tell they secretly liked each other. But still a great ending nonetheless.
He is cute i want to marry him and I want to name my baby boy Thomas Charles Holbrook Howell And baby girl Rose Howell
what i say is programmed
Her voice kind of annoys me in this lol sounds like me when I have the flu
ROCK GODDESS that raspy voice has been her trademark since the 80s. It was considered sexy.
It always bugged me, her voice. I hate hoarse-voiced actors. Idky they get cast. It’s grating on the ears and nerves.
