@@anarchyandempires5452 Yeah there is literally a popular restaurant called Roti i live by and it is by and far the most interesting food i have ever tried.
Middle eastern food is amazing. We have a super good little place in town owned by a family from Jordan that my mom and I absolutely love. Their kufta is heaven. I'd really like to see a middle eastern bakery or sweet shop though; some of my Yemeni clients introduced me to the sweets and pastries they have, and that stuff was to die for. Most Americans have seen baklava, but there were amazing sweet little nests of pastry noodles filled with spiced pistachios, rolled crisp pastry filled with honeyed nuts, layered confections...and the halva candy was divine. There's also an Egyptian almond cake that gets soaked in orange flower syrup (I think it's called basbusa?) that is out of this world. Also that lady was right about not enough seasoning in American food. After trying Middle Eastern, Indian and Thai food, and especially after living around the corner from several of those restaurants for a couple years, I'm ruined. I dump tons of seasoning into everything I cook now. I go through cumin, turmeric, paprika, fennel, chili, garlic, bay, lemongrass, ginger etc so fast now that I had to start growing some of it myself, and the rest I buy in bulk.
They're just doing what they know with things similarly shaped to what they typically eat, made with similar ingredients, without any context or instruction from the producers.

Roti is available in America, it's actually pretty popular.
Since the war middleastern food has exponentialy grown in popularity thanks to all the soldiers coming back after tasting the food over seas.
I just love these people. I wish more people would look at other people everywhere as PEOPLE, beautiful and imperfect and lovable. I
