- When Susanna went into premature labor with little Joy, everyone was gravely concerned. There had been worries about Joy’s health, but up until now everything had been going smoothly. The doctors had noted a cyst on her liver during an ultrasound just prior to this so everyone was very worried. They rushed Susanna into theatre for an emergency c-section and what they discovered was simply shocking!
I know personally this can happen. My little sister did the same thing. But my parents didn’t discover it until she was twelve years old. She was always heavy and had stomach issues. One day my mother brought her to the doctor and he discovered she had a mass on her ovary. When the doctor took it out it was as big as a basketball. It was her twin and it had turned cancerous. The doctors locally told my parents they had no cure but with my father being in the military they sent them to Walter Reed Hospital. Thank god for that. We had 40 more years with her. However the cancer came back and she left us.

That’s incredibly disrespectful of the men and women of the medical care team who were dedicated to their training and treatment of these patients. They are the ones who deserve credit. A miracle would have been if god never made this baby and mom suffer in the first place. So either your god is a really sick sadist causing unnecessary pain and suffering or he doesn’t exist.

Fascinating story. I had heard of newborns harboring a twin or parts of a twin but this story really explains what happens. I just wonder if it would be possible for such a fetus to survive.
My cousin was having twin boys.one child was going to survive or none. Soo they had the other cut from the food source. Cousin gave birth to the live birth then unlive birth..

There is a story of a woman in the developing world that doesn't have this level of healthcare where she carried the phantom baby twin in her abdomen for 50 years (give or take). There is a documentary about it somewhere.

I had a very dear friend ( an aunt by marriage) who was born with the same condition, but when it was discovered, the twin was found to be reduced to fragments and mostly absorbed into her body.

Not once was the medical term used but it's called fetus in fetu. That is the medical phrase used when a twin is pregnant by its twin.

I don't believe that one fetus consumed the other. I think that the fertilized egg did not separate properly so that the identical twins could be burned separately. Nevertheless, the will of God prevailed although one of the babies did not make it into the living world. Thanks to God that one of the twins survived as well as the mother.
