For a big cat it isn't a worthwhile meal, especially for a pride, and doesn't compete for things that are. Even if it was out in the open, where the lion would usually win, there's no point risking its life just for the flex once the cubs were safe. A hungry, solo lion might have taken it on as a 'snack' to get the energy to hunt something bigger, but even then probably not in that scrub.
