Indian National Anthem : Jana Gana Mana - Thou Art the Ruler of the Minds of All People

Jana Gana Mana is the national anthem of India. It was originally composed as Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata in Bengali by polymath Rabindranath Tagore. The first stanza of the song Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the National Anthem on 24 January 1950. A formal rendition of the national anthem takes approximately 52 seconds. A shortened version consisting of the first and last lines (and taking about 20 seconds to play) is also staged occasionally. It was first publicly sung on 27 December 1911 at the Calcutta (now Kolkata) Session of the Indian National Congress.

"ชนะ คณะ มนะ" (เบงกอล: জন গণ মন, Jôno Gôno Mono; แปลว่า "ท่านคือผู้ครองใจชนทั้งผอง") เป็นชื่อของเพลงชาติแห่งสาธารณรัฐอินเดีย บทเพลงนี้เขียนขึ้นด้วยภาษาเบงกอลสันสกฤตและประพันธ์ทำนองโดยรพินทรนาถ ฐากุร นักเขียนรางวัลโนเบลชาวเบงกอล โดยบทที่นำมาใช้เป็นเพลงชาตินี้นำมาจากบทแรกของเพลงเดิมซึ่งเป็นเพลงสรรเสริญแบบพฺราหฺมะ (ব্রাহ্ম, Brahmo) ของแคว้นเบงกอล มีเนื้อหาทั้งหมด 5 บท เพลงดังกล่าวได้มีการขับร้องอย่างเป็นทางการครั้งแรกในที่ประชุมคองเกรสแห่งชาติของอินเดีย (Indian National Congress) ที่เมืองกัลกัตตา เมื่อวันที่ 27 ธันวาคม ค.ศ. 1911 ภายหลังเพลง "ชนะ คณะ มนะ" ได้รับการยอมรับให้ใช้เป็นเพลงชาติอินเดียอย่างเป็นทางการโดยสภาร่างรัฐธรรมนูญเมื่อวันที่ 24 มกราคม ค.ศ. 1950

जन गण मन, भारत का राष्ट्रगान है जो मूलतः बंगाली में गुरुदेव रवीन्द्रनाथ टैगोर द्वारा लिखा गया था। भारत का राष्ट्रीय गीत वन्दे मातरम्‌ है।
राष्ट्रगान के गायन की अवधि लगभग ५२ सेकेण्ड है। कुछ अवसरों पर राष्ट्रगान संक्षिप्त रूप में भी गाया जाता है, इसमें प्रथम तथा अन्तिम पंक्तियाँ ही बोलते हैं जिसमें लगभग २० सेकेण्ड का समय लगता है। संविधान सभा ने जन-गण-मन हिन्दुस्तान के राष्ट्रगान के रूप में २४ जनवरी १९५० को अपनाया था। इसे सर्वप्रथम २७ दिसम्बर १९११ को कांग्रेस के कलकत्ता अब दोनों भाषाओं में (बंगाली और हिन्दी) अधिवेशन में गाया गया था। पूरे गान में ५ पद हैं।
