- The Kamov Ka-50 "Black Shark", NATO reporting name: Hokum A is a Soviet/Russian single-seat attack helicopter with the distinctive coaxial rotor system of the Kamov design bureau. It was designed in the 1980s and adopted for service in the Russian army in 1995.
It is manufactured by the Progress company in Arsenyev. It is used as a heavily armed scout helicopter. It has a rescue ejection system, rare for helicopters.

Just because a dozen or two of these have been lost in combat in Ukraine doesnt mean its a bad piece of hardware, sure their lack of smart missiles and large scale usage of dummy rockets put them in more vulnerable spots plus with the combination of excellent anti air and manpad systems from EU countries havent made the day shine any brighter for them.

Meanwhile in my head:
Ejection seat goes BRRR, hehe helicopter looks cool.
This is the best comment.
Another thing cool about it and any helicopter with two counterrotating rotors, it can lose its tail and still fly, because a normal helicopter has one, the torque is only to one side, hence the tail rotor keeping it from uncontrollably spinning.
However, when the two spin in opposite directions, they counteract each other, so there might as well be no torque at all

The pilots ejection seat is when the helicopter is hit with a stinger or like missle and his ass is blown out of the sky. Secondly, I don't think they have a missile on board to hit a ship 800 miles away?!
You got that wrong. The ejection seat is where the dual rotors are disconnected by being blown off with a small charge in the coaxial, then the windows open up and shoot the pilots upwards.

Educate yourself. The charges in the rotors blow away once the seat ejects
The blades shots off, then the pilot ejects.
Rescue ejection system? How?
The rotor blades are blown off by small explosive charges, then the pilot is ejected shortly afterward
The blades blow and the crew blow right after

It is not, it has been kept at bay by shoulder fired stinger missiles, how can it be superior to other attack helicopters when it won’t attack out of fear of being shot down in a theater where the opponent does not have attack helicopters of its own, the Alligator has proven to be ineffective in this war which should be its bread and butter instead its used sparingly.
