Big 8 Point just ate at my corn pile yesterday and last night, he was back and they were dropped. He is following an 8 doe group that I feed corn daily. Any suggestions?
My boy (4) just found his first shed up here in Maine! It’s last years and chewed a bit but it’s a big 6 with serious mass, would be a great deer in midcoast Maine. Thanks Jeff and crew!
Great tips about in and around bedding, that is close to food. IMO the best advice on here. Also the speed, like you said cover ground in areas that are open, trust that you will see them. I prefer sunny days, I really see the antlers well with the extra light.
Started making bedding areas here in Pa. on the property on the bottom and side of our hill as it benches 2 levels down the back part of the property for holding buck , we have food plots on lower level front side of property, using your...depth of cover....plan, Thanks for all the advice in the videos
I saw guys looking down here on cell cams in southern Iowa on public and the season hadn’t even closed yet. Have walked about 20 hours so far and have found 1. Scouting also so it’s all good...
We've seen some drop around here...but only the limping and injured. Also, it depends on where it is...poor food, bad habitat protection, bad habitat/browse and harsh weather all play a part too. But an injured buck will drop very fast depending on his condition. We had an injured buck drop by 12/14 this year. Another one dropped by late December...he was limping bad. Most of ours around here won't drop until mid to late February
Have definitely seen the earlier drop in the wv mountains. Fairly regularly it seems like a few of the bucks (even seemingly healthy ones) drop from December 20th on.
I have never found a shed on my own property, given I have never owned over 8.5 acres, but at some point you would think "luck" would get you one. I have only found a handful of sheds and they are small. They were found in food plots and 2 on a trail on a ridge. I did find one a couple hundred yards away on a neighbors place. I have a pretty active place here and get some bedding all around my property and the small lease I have next door, so fingers crossed for this year. Bucks are currently still holding as the weather is very mild and not causing a winter stressor. I typically see deer holding into April here in Tennessee.
It’s really hard in pa to on public land the animals get to them first like squirrels and coyotes. But the few I have found was in thick habitat, or food source, I’ve never just found one in the open woods. But lower area trees will knock them off and I find them in there to. Good luck
Tried it one year. Didn’t work for me. There are a lot of cons about those so I won’t do them again. Not important enough for me to possibly cause a bad break if it’s not ready to fall Off.
I'm in northern Michigan and still see antlers on deer so nouck this year yet. Found a nice 8 point and a 6 point shed. Also found a part of a giant shed that had been eaten down last year later. Love shed hunting and scouting this time of year.
I find 80 % of my WTD sheds up here in Manitoba in feeding and bedding areas where they typically yard up for the winter. That includes silage/bales. For some strange reason, I find very little on the well used deer trails in the solid bush and that includes fence crossings. Alfalfa fields are also a good spot as they hammer that all winter.
so how late will they hold this year in central mn? i pulled a chip cam on tuesday and seen that buck dropped one on jan 24th and i went out yesterday and found the one he was still holding that i had on camera
Funny you brought up doe groups, that's something I ran into when I first started shed hunting. There's very heavily used trails and a lot of deer sign in my one area, but I could never find an antler there and it always baffled me. Then upon further investigation and running cameras, I discovered it's because the trail and deer sign is from a giant herd of does.
LMAO "The older the buck becomes, they don't want to hang around the does and deal with the stress" I can't tell if you are speaking from hunting experience or personal experience😄
I thought I found a huge shed with triple brow tines then I noticed it had a hole drilled in it just above the base plate. Must of been half of someone's rattling antlers?
That's funny Tim 😄 I thought I was the only one to have this happen! About 10 years ago I found a five point side, one of my biggest, with a hole just like that. It was old and chewed a bit but I couldn't belive the chances of that. Especially since we find very few sheds in our area. Not many mature deer
I can tell you. Because of the winter we had, they will not drop until late February or early to mid-March, depending on food sources that are available. Most locations near me farmers leave a row or four rows of crop for deer. Which means the 1st or second week of March will be a better time to look. Sometime even late February if lucky. I saw man bucks with antlers last week.
I see a new First Lite jacket/hoodie, can you touch on that yet Jeff? I also found two good sheds here in PA so far, really good 3 year old sheds it appeared
That's awesome Matt! I definitely will let you know on that hoodie with a link...they are actually available for purchase on Monday. It's a Furnace hoodie...pretty dang awesome!
me watching a entire playlist about shed hunting knowing im probably never gonna go shed hunting unless i have absloulety nothing to do and cant go ice fishing: intresting
I’ve never found a shed, looked for hours! I was telling my dad about it a couple years ago, and he tells me he found on in the yard under some evergreens! One shed nice 10 point, maybe 4-5 years old.
We shed hunt the same property every year. Last year we only found 3 total this year we’re up to 7 and only walked 2 times. You never really know where they are gonna drop they travel farther then you think it’s pretty Wild
Go look for them around the suburbs small wood partials, parks , schools church's , you would not believe what kind of honey hole you might find for monster deer sheds .
I’d love to see a video and your thoughts on fetal programming. I’m really focusing on getting minerals into pregnant doe this winter and spring as we did last year. Prob gonna continue to do so for the next 2-3 years to see what kind of progress we’re making.
I had smaller bucks dropping antlers during muzzle loader season in Winona co. I live only 3 minutes from Jeff so i use his videos as a pretty accurate guide!! 🤣🤣
I started finding them mid-January in SE MN and SW WI. Most years, I don't start until around Valentine's Day (on private), but a lot of early drops this year. I often find big antlers early, but it's a fine line when you go to not bump bachelor groups out of the area.
I don't have my own hunting land but I really love this informative channel.
Thanks Jeff! Your channel means so much to so many of us
Big 8 Point just ate at my corn pile yesterday and last night, he was back and they were dropped. He is following an 8 doe group that I feed corn daily. Any suggestions?
Love it! Get out and enjoy your property, sheds are just an awesome bonus!!
Amen Josh!

Man that is awesome...congrats to you guys!!
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Could i find good sheds on 30 acres? I see giants all the time but I dont know if theyll shed on the property
Absolutely love how your videos are so relevant to the things we should be doing for that certain time of year. Huge fan WHS is the biggest help out

That sounds great Fred...be careful dropping that canopy 😊👍
Jeff, I would like to order (6) 5-year old bucks in the 150" class range. When can you deliver? I'll chain them to a tree until fall. Lol...

Is this weekend to early to broadcast clover seeds in the mountains of Southern Virginia?
As long as there is no snow it's a great time!
They are starting to drop on Kelleys Island in Lake Erie already. Wonder why so early?
We've seen some drop around here...but only the limping and injured.

I have 4 acres and I find around 15-20 each year. Food food food. Have the best food in town and they will come.
@@earthdimensionc-1378 yessir. Corn goes down day after season lol

We still have at least 1 holding 1 antler as of yesterday. A buddy across the river in WI has a beautiful 3 year old still holding as of the 22nd.
Thank you. I have never found one but keep looking here in SE WI.

It is so common! Those bucks often go somewhere else when there are loud doe herds
LMAO

I can't tell if you are speaking from hunting experience or personal experience😄
Just found my first shed in ky today
Nice Collin that is awesome!!
I've found almost all of my sheds walking on public land
I tend to get lucky on the south facing hills. Found 1 pair a week ago around our field. Havnt got in the woods yet. Just been checkin fields.

We have snow that's a few feet deep.. found 1 😀
I would love to see what advice you could give for finding sheds in Florida, pine forest and cypress swamps.
I’ve never found a shed, but I only started looking for them last year. When you find one on a client property, do they typically give you the shed?
Hi Naomi ..I hope you can find one this season! I always make sure they keep them 😊
Thanks Jeff getting out there soon
That's awesome, good luck!
picked up 53 this year so far in Pa.

Usually find them in the turnups & brassica plots.
Been out the last 2 weekends on IL Public- no freshies for me yet.
Covering a lot of ground, but I’m no pro. Got some good eyes though.
I was surprised to see antlers on 4 bucks on my trail cam yesterday. Figured they would be gone this late in northern Michigan.
That does seem late!
SW MI I've seen one 1.5 year old with one missing. The rest are all still carrying them
We still have majority still holding down here in VA
I can see that...we are likely less than 10 to 20%. They really dropped to a high degree over the past 2 weeks or so
me watching a entire playlist about shed hunting knowing im probably never gonna go shed hunting unless i have absloulety nothing to do and cant go ice fishing: intresting
INTERESTING , I live in the corner of Ohio counties, Richland/Crawford/Morrow
Indiana resident here. Haven't seen any of the 5 main bucks on camera drop an antler yet. Praying God helps me find the big guy.
Good luck Nick!

10 point shed?? That’s awesome!
@@Avid_Conservationist oops! That would’ve been a nice find. I have to clarify a five point shed, most likely a 10 point deer.
What app do u use to show the property setups when u color in all the work and different projects?

I like how a lot of people putting out videos about attracting bucks have a bunch of night time pictures.😁
STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHEN THEY REALLY START TO SHED HERE IN N.C. !!!
