CSC SG250/3000 Miles

- Yikes I think I got my sprockets switched around. The SG 250 comes with a 14 tooth sprocket that runs the bike at about 45 mph. I got mine modified with a larger 16 tooth sprocket that runs the bike at about 55 mph. Oh course I’m able to get the bike running faster than that- especially down hill, on the highway, in broad daylight and without any wind.
Running out of gas at 2 bars is true BUT you can always change the petcock to where it goes and gets that last two bars of gas. That way you can make it to a gas station. Ive had to do that twice.
I don't really bother with the petcock. I leave it open
What gas is best for these bikes??
Came for a bike video stayed for a nature video
I have a 2020 SG250 and also have about 3000 miles on it. It runs just fine even after 2 winters. The only negative thing that has happened to it is that the mirror randomly fell off, so I had to get some aftermarket ones. I only put ethanol free gas into it.
My mirror just cam off !?!?! 🍀. Yeah it’s awesome 😎
Mine too
How fast can you go
@@zackp3396 about 80mph
@@LeDank you think it can go 65 for a couple miles?
I have an sg250 and it might say you’re going 80 but its about 7mph off. You’re probably going alittle above 70mph. Mine is garage kept and nothing happened to it. Of course I ride it daily.
I have one too and checked the speedo against a gps speedo. It seems to be consistently about 10% faster than your actual speed. When it says 44mph you’re going 40, and at 77 you’re going 70. That’s actually really common for motorcycles in general.
Will this go 65 on the highway for 20 miles or so
@@zackp3396 The biggest factor in speed for the SG250 is rider weight. If you are under 170 then you will probably be fine. On one forum there was a 6' 3" owner weighing 230 who was not happy with his.
For the price, there should be literally Zero complaints 🤙
Run ethanol free gas only! Solves the varnish issue and runs great
Thanks!!
Great review man! You answered a lot of my questions in this video, one thing got my attention when you mentioned that the bike likes to sit outside. By any chance do you know how it behaves with winter? I live in the east coast and I have a open garage so it gets very cold. Your response would be useful for me, thank you
You’re gonna want to put some gas treatment in the tank line redline 3000. Or else the carburetor will clog up and the bike will backfire like crazy
The 2023 model goes about 60 on flat road and 75 on downhill roads.
If I’m only able to ride the bike with the choke in the middle can I add the liquid to save it from getting fully clogged?
I’m not on that bike anymore. If you’re in LA I would recommend visiting the dealership. I think it’s a pretty friendly shop and they’ll tune up the bike
Holy crap, sounds like you got ripped off for $3700, wtf. Light doesn't work, gas indicator doesn't work, Speedo is off like 6-7MPH, top speed of 70mph. Corrodes and rusts easily... I really wanted to like this bike but it sounds....bad for that price. Might as well pay another grand and get a Honda Rebel @ 4700
Did you ever contact CSC about the light and gas gauge? That's crazy to me they sold a bike with those issues, CSC is supposed to be the go to brand when you want a Chinese bike with all the issues already worked out.
The speedo thing is a common chinese bike problem which can usually be fixed by simply changing settings on the tach, still surprised CSC didn't fix that before selling.
Yeah, I agree. But it was all good. I ended up liking the bike a lot. The bike is totaled. I parked it on the street and somebody drove their car on top of it, trying to break the handlebar lock. I would definitely get another one. Its a fun bike.
There are definitely some real downsides but I do think these things are some of the best looking bikes anyone is making
Thanks !! Yeah I’m a CSC fan
Hey I appreciate this video! Very insightful quick question I’m 5’6 would I fit comfortably on this or would I be leaning forward A ton?
I rode it. It feels like yoga at first but it gets good
@@Avi_K_dog how tall are you if you don’t mind me asking
@@Tenjiku_Joshh I’m like 5’11” the bike obviously is like a yoga stretch machine at the gym when you first get on it. But after a few weeks it gets very cruisy. The big issue is that the back tire is actually a front tire and it needs to be replaced pretty quick.
I'm 5'7 and it feels fine. It's a great bike. I've parked mine in the garage for 4 yrs now with 1/2 tank of gas. I've never had an issue w this bike. It's a fun bike to take out and dart around.
In the manufacturers documents, it says top speed of 68 mph. How did yours only have a top speed of 45 when new? that 23 mph less than claimed. Were you in 5th gear or 4th?
Lower speed during break-in is recommended.
I think 68 is going down hill on a highway while it’s sunny out. Perfect speed record conditions
Bikes and cars have a break in period. My bike I bought brand new topped out at about 50mph when I got it, 600 miles later I can hit 60. Threw a new carb, intake, exhaust and sprockets/chain on it and I can hit 70 now.
Lastly PLEASE for the love of God throw away that half shell helmet. It’s not gonna do anything when you crash except come off. Buy a full face or a modular.
Thanks for the good advice man !!
@@Avi_K_dog hey man i just hate to see a fellow rider not be able to continue doing what they love. I always rely on a full face DOT & ECE rated helmet.
The old saying is " If you have a $50 head wear a $50 helmet, if you ride like hell, wear a Bell". You need your head !
@@geraldcole3315 thanks man !! I need to invest in a nice helmet ⛑
Where was this at? Lots of good scenery.
Its across the golden gate bridge from San Francisco in Marin County
the right Prius for you. ;-)
I want to ride the motorcycle down the waterfall 🍀
Is it possible to swap out the exhaust to an aftermarket one?
Probably yeah
I want one so I can turn it into a scrambler
Mine is running nice. It’s great 🔥🔥🔥
Where is this place with that view?
Stinson Beach on Mount Tamalpais, across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco
@@Avi_K_dog I thought I found it on google as Alamere Falls but thats a few miles up the beach. Thanks for the info
@@JoeSo222 that’s right. It’s in Bolinas 🍀
Whats the rear sprocket??
Not sure
percentage of this video actually spent reviewing the bike... about 15%... max
Alamere falls?
Hahah nvm saw the other comments on this video that confirm it is alamere falls. Such a badass place. If you’re ever in Sonoma County would love to check out this bike in person. Considering getting one. Thanks
Yeah of course!! Thank you too !!
@@Avi_K_dog you still happy with this little bike? Thinking of getting one to combat these crazy gas prices. I would have to go on the great for a little bit though, I have about a 14 mile commute to work, guessing 10 of that is on the freeway. I had a little dr200 Suzuki commuter in college and it was 190-something cc’s and was able to make due - getting up to reasonable freeway speed (72mph? If I recall), so thinking this slightly bigger engine might do the trick. With two young kids I don’t necessarily get to ride for pleasure anymore haha
@@cmoney_707 I bought mine for work. It’s good, but you’ve got to put Red Line 3000 in the tank or you might have to overhaul the carburetor. I also store the bike with the tank full of Supreme all the time to combat the glue in the tank. Also, the bike takes a long time before it shows up in the mail. There’s also a wicked learning curve riding it- the first 1500 miles are sketchy. I’m super relaxed on the bike now, but it was sketchy at first. Also, mechanics won’t work on the bike. The bike is intended for people who want to work on it themselves. There’s only one mechanic in SF who will work on it. Also, with the 14 tooth sprocket it goes about 55, but with the 16 tooth sprocket it only goes 45. The 14 tooth sprocket costs extra-scrambler handle bars and warranty, same thing. Good luck!!!
@@Avi_K_dog "Also, with the 14 tooth sprocket it goes about 55, but with the 16 tooth sprocket it only goes 45." That's not making sense. Could you clarify, please?
So that’s got 14” seat height?
Not sure. It’s totaled
@@Avi_K_dog So it probably does…now anyway🫣, sorry to hear that.
@@jimstenlund6017 Yeah, I liked that little sprocket. I'd love to get another CSC Cafe
Use ethanol free gas
A beautiful, simple cafe style bike at what seems to be a decent price until you have it delivered to your house. $3580 total. You can buy a FANTASTIC used 6-8 year old Japanese bike up to 1000cc of ANY standard style and engine capacity for that amount...
No you absolutely can not
You can find one but they don't come with a title and you have to run all over looking for parts. You can't even get a KTM 200 delivered to your door new for that price. Most of the older bikes are only in good condition in auctions or via some barn find where the owner doesn't care.
What year and model it that bro? Really nice bike
I think it was 2020 🍀
Lota of negatives
