- 02/09/2021 Now that we've covered the mid-game, it's time to talk about the current endgame and what you need to for crafting some of the best weapons & armor currently available in Valheim. This guide will dive fully into the Plains biome and the resources within it, such as Black Metal, Linen, how to craft gear from it such as the Black Metal Weapons, Padded Armor, and even how to properly hunt the Sea Serpents to craft the shield.

A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by Viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!
A battle-slain warrior, the Valkyries have ferried your soul to Valheim, the tenth Norse world. Besieged by creatures of chaos and ancient enemies of the gods, you are the newest custodian of the primordial purgatory, tasked with slaying Odin’s ancient rivals and bringing order to Valheim.
Your trials begin at the disarmingly peaceful centre of Valheim, but the gods reward the brave and glory awaits. Venture forth through imposing forests and snow-capped mountains, explore and harvest more valuable materials to craft deadlier weapons, sturdier armor, viking strongholds and outposts. Build a mighty longship and sail the great oceans in search of exotic lands … but be wary of sailing too far...

Time for us to beat back the Plains biome, it's the very definition of going to hell and back but once you conquer it, you'll feel like a champion! Today we're diving into the creation process of Black Metal and Padded Armor, until they fully implement the new biomes/weapons, this will be pretty much the best stuff you can obtain. And the sea serpent shield will be a nice addition to your armory. Hope it helps! Bring food buffs, healing mead, and your best gear for these methods.
Excited to hunt one down

This game has been truly impressive so far.
Technically it's early access rather than a complete game. Making it more impressive.
Over 250k people playing Valheim tonight. That's insane. It's by far the best Early Access game that came out so far and it's much better polished than quite a few AAA games already. And there's quite a lot of content, too. There will be more though. Its only flaw is the lag when there are 10 players on a server or many buildings. But I don't care about that

I actually completely skipped bronze and used troll skin till I got iron. Your armor becomes obsolete pretty quickly in this game.
This game is so amazing. 40 hours now and I'm only now starting the swamp biome. I also died horribly in the plains to the mosquitoes, resulting in multiple corpse runs and a lot of sneaking. Thanks for the vid.
Watching you playing made me buy this game!

You can build a base wherever the hell you want if you dig a moat around it and put walls up on the inner ridge.
My group was also tired of having to sail all the way around a continent, so we dug a canal through the narrowest/lowest portion. Makes running metal ore/ingots pretty easy. We've got a central hall next to the altar where you hang the boss heads that is like a central portal room, like a hub-and-spoke system.
Deathsquitos. Basically a reincarnation of cazadors from the game we know and love.
Underrated comment for how true this is
Best part about the game was finding out this isnt even the end game theres still more. After killing the bosses and started running around in padded armour fully upgraded, finding even MORE has been a blast.
So much content from such a cheap game.
right? Best 20 dollars I've spent this year!!
fully agree
The best part for me was realising this is barely a fraction of what the game is likely to become in the future, with the current content making roughly 50% of the game (in the devs eyes), the insane popularity and funding will probably push for and support a ton more content after that, likely ending up like Terraria where it just keeps getting more and more content.
@@mykeh3155 that would be so cool

ive got full bronze armor, next step is to get some iron from the swamps!
your voice sounds like tts, kinda soothing, cheers for the tips
Me and two of my buddies haven't even defeated bonemass yet, and we've conquered the plains. We sailed in to the edge, away from the goblin village, and after dying many many times we were finally able to build a small fort, and portal there. After that I was a matter of many, many... MANY arrows to wipe them out. Now only some spawn here and there. Also the Lox's are pretty much as easy as the trolls. They just take longer to kill, and do more damage, but easy to avoid and use arrows. I have full iron armor and my two buddies only have bronze, and we own the plains now.
my friends and I are loving it in Valheim :D
Information pertaining to this game has been weirdly sparse. Thank you for a precise informative video!
Damn.. I just started this game, and this seems so overwhelming!
Great vid, thanks!
Thanks you for this video it explains allot what you need to di after killing the dragon. Much love ♥️
I haven't had a single problem with deathsquitos unless I am fighting 3 or more. They circle you and then fly straight in to attack. Their attack hits the instant they get to you making a parry very easy to time. Stand in one spot when one is aggroed. Don't use a bow. Ready your shield and simply wait for them to attack, parry, kill. They only take 1 hit if you have a decent weapon.
you must be chitin me, thanks for the guide
I am so early in the game that it doesn't even seem like the same game.
Thanks Med.
DeathSquitos were Nerfed so now even in Troll Armor you can survive One sting
I haven’t gotten scared from dying in a video game in a while... then I met the deathsquito lol

good job the plain is indeed HELL but what you need for workbench 5? and which armor you suggest to go swamp ? our troll armor only lvl2 cause cant find how to go bench 5 XD
troll armor is fine for swamp. bench 5 will be unlocked, if you progress further.
My best tip for you is get yourself some bronze and craft a Cart! Then you can use it to load a bunh of heavy metals and fine/core wood
Goblin slayer would be happy when he saw this game, a lot of goblin to kill.
My name in valheim is legit goblin slayer 🤣
“Oh I’m sorry did you want any goblin?”
“No that’s ok”
“Good, more for slayer... GOBLIN SLAYER. That’s me.”
I feel like devs called it Black Metal because it's True Norwegian Black Metal
@4:31 - what is known as chitin - pronounced /ˈkītn/ - the "ch" is a hard K not a soft "ch" sound like in chit-chat. Chitin is what makes up exoskeleton of many arthropods.
LOL He called the krakens 'sea turtles'!
You don’t have to drag the serpent on shore to get scales for future reference
I just got full wolf armour and silver weapons today
Currently at 107.7h played and I have not gotten to the plains properly yet lol
I'm still wearing bronze but have spent a lot of time raising the earth creating a wall around my settlement. Almost done, but it takes forever.
Why not dig a grave around it, then you gain stone and not spend it. 👍
Is it not possible to upgrade Black metal Armor/Weapons past level 1?
The desert? The plains right? Is there a desert biome?
i thought i was in mid tier with bronze, well, seems like I've got another 60 hours to go
What is the best melee weapon?
Cries in solo
I’m still scrounging for leather scraps and flint 😭
I am dying to know about the fifth boss release!
What is this game and why have I not heard about it it looks good and seems amazing
Is that Azazel our great Hounds leader from New Earth?
Quick grammar tip: Chitin is pronounced Kite-in. That is all. I misunderstood the word too when i first saw it.
So does all the good armor reduce movement speed? If so I’ll stick with troll armor for ever lol
Just unequip the armor when you’re not fighting and then slap it back on when you’re about to enter some place extra sketchy

have to kill the dragon boss
@@ionicgaming492 No you don't. You just need to farm the components to unlock it, some are in the swamps, like the ancient bark, and some in the mountains, like silver. For silver though you need to kill Biomass to get the Wishbone, since silver is hidden underground.
Need to get the guck?
Is this game good for Single Player?
yes, but better with some friends for sure
I've solo'd all the way to the point where they are in this video, I would say yes, you move at your pace, its a challenge, so always play cautiously.
Yes but harder broooo
Actually it is intended to be single player mostly, it didnt even have co-op until very very recently :)
I'm at the Iron age and I play solo. I have learned not to over reach with my curiosity. Corpse runs are horrible, especially when your best armor is on your corpse and across the ocean on another continent.. And mats took you days to farm and are hard to get.. Keep all your most resent armor sets.. And pray you dont die in a group of hard enemies when your inventory is full.. You wont have time to get your gear before the enemies kill you again.. Why they dont allow single player to keep their inventory on death, I dont know.. It's almost too harsh..
desert? it says plains :p
These are end game items right? Me and my friend are about to fight the dragon boss but is there something after black metal?
There is. But there is no recipes for the ore yet.

Game is too grindy the map is huge so you need to put a lot of efford into it. We managed to come to a point where we made iron armors and shields with weapons but then we realized how much efford it takes to get silver and how much silver those weapons require. The amount was insane so we stopped playing at that point... But the game is incredible its the best game i ve seen so far.
Dude the silver nodes are massive, we mined like 5 of them and completely filled 2 longships full. Enough to fully gear and upgrade silver armor and weapons for 3 people.
@@IAreSmeegoo wow we just saw one and it gave like 2 xd
@@berkgumus4047 i recommend excavating around the nodes before actually mining them so you done lose track of how much there is, the first 2 nodes we found we thought were small but it turns out 2/3's of it was actually still buried and we lost it in the dirt as we were mining.
@@IAreSmeegoo hmm thanks bro i ll look into it as i ve restarted the game recently.
Good example for an early access game done right, BUT after 2 days of gameplay SOLO, I find it very boring and not singleplayer friendly :/ The amount of work to be done by one person is just too much and don't get me started at not being able to teleport with ORE in your inventory... I know multiplayer is fun and I think that how the game is supposed to be played, but SOLOING it is just non rewarding and gets boring pretty fast... It's a great game at this early in it's development and release, but only if you play it with friends tho...
70 ish hours and the majority is solo? You can do it. Just beat the 4th boss but there were two of us.
@@Karma-Code I ended up hating the game even more now and I think it is hugely overrated...
As for the ore, make a second server, drop it in a box, go back to original, tell home, go back to second and pick it up. It sucks but its the easiest way.
@@Karma-Code That is considered an "exploit" which either will be fixed or the developers must make ore able to be teleported with the portal, because everyone will continue to use the method anyway... By the way I'v made a post on another channel about the game, which is like an angry review from my point of view about all of the hype. It is a long read but here is my dissapointment so far:
1. The game can be fun only if you play with someone else - for a solo player, after 2-3 days of gameplay or around the 2nd boss, you will be completely bored, constantly grinding for the same old stuff and finding all the same dungeons like in the first zone you spawned and you will just say to yourself "why dafuq am I wasting my time with this shit?"...
2. The world bosses fights are a joke and can be "exploited" very easy - but that is only the small problem with them. The game is restricting you from being able to go to other biomes and be productive there, because you must follow the line of killing the DEER boss FIRST, then going to the next biome and boss and etc. You can't craft that higher tier axe to chop that higher tier wood, before killing the DEER boss. Either you will follow the bosses and biomes by how the developers decided, or you will be stuck or dead... If you try to skip the first boss and directly go to the mountains you will just DIE, because you don't have the right ARMOR which is unlocked by following the "deer boss first, tree boss 2nd" and etc.
3. The crafting system is a little bit retarded at first - you need a BENCH to be able to craft and after you make that bench now you need a ROOF on top of it, otherwise you can't craft anything - why dafuq does a bench need a roof? Ask the mastermind developer behind that idea... Anyway - you discovered all of the dumb crafting tricks and the crafting system is now enjoyable, but soon you will realise that every "tier" of gear requires the same old stuff to be done exactly how you made the last gear, but with "new" materials from a different biome. Ok fine, no problem it's a survival game anyway, but this part quickly turns into a grind fest and this is just the beginning of it! After you discover that TIN and COPPER ORE, you will go back and forth like a psychopath, because that stuff is HEAVY and you can only "transport" a small amount of it in your inventory. You can craft a cart and use it to transport more maths, but good luck running with it and not destroying it... So a few hours of a grind fest later, here you are with your ORE and you discover the PORTAL system - great, now you can teleport with that metal quickly from point A to point B right? WELL NO - the developers decided that you will NOT BE ABLE TO TELEPORT WITH ORE in your inventory - why dafuq will I need the teleport then if one of the main MATHS for crafting can't go through it?!? Well here we go the OLD way - walking like a maniac with that ore on that huge map for days, just to craft a simple piece of gear... The good part is that you can craft a BOAT and transport that ore with it, which is not like a teleport, but can be faster than walking long distances I guess - make sure to make your base near water, because once that ore from the boat hits the ground you will need to transport it to your base using your inventory. What? You made your base far from the water? Well get ready to run like a maniac again, because that ORE will not teleport itself to your crafting bench...
4. After the grind fest now you have a good looking house and a shiny armor and 50 chests full of maths. Why 50 chests you ask? Well because they can hold very little amount of materials and you will need many of them to store your stuff. If only there would been a way to put all of your stuff in some kind of a big "thing" and organize it simple... Well NOPE, there is no other way than making a shit ton of chests and going through every one of them to figure out where dafuq u put the wood... You can put a sign with a name on the chest to orientate what dafuq you store in it, but believe me it will anyway turn to "where dafuq I put it ffs"...
Anyway now you are ready for new adventures! You have figured out how to "exploit" that 3rd boss, because your armor is useless anyway, and you decide to explore the map more and go to the other biomes! You finally get there and you instantly DIE! Why? Well because your gear and skill level is usseless... No matter that you grinded your ass off for that shiny armor and sword - the enemy in that new biome doesn't give a f*ck about it, because you are just a worthless joke of a viking anyway... The fighting system and the stamina behind it is one of the best parts - good luck fighting more than one mob at a time without constantly running out of stamina - you like to use 2 handed weapon? Well get ready for "strike, move back and wait..... strike again and repeat"... This is how every battle is and will be... Yes the fighting system is a joke and even the bow will become boring very fast.
At that point you know that you have invested a shit ton of hours in the game, so you can't just QUIT it - after all, you want to discover new dungeons and stuff right? Well forget it - all of the "dungeons" are basically the same! The mobs look different, but you know exactly that nothing has changed from the first zone. And now you start to realize the hard truth, after which there are only 2 choices for you - either you quit, because there is no point continuing the suffer OR you discover that you are actually a real maniac in real life, just like the viking in the game and you actually enjoy the grind fest, because there is nothing else in the game to keep you playing... Oh maybe you like the nordic atmosphere and the viking story, so that is good enough of a reason to continue right? Well forget about it, because there is no viking story and no lore at all... The whole "viking" stuff is just for clickbait and nothing more... Sad isn't it?
5. You quit and try to find someone else who is disappointed just like you, but you can't find anyone - everyone is either playing "stupid" by joining the possitive review hype train or they just have friends to play with and that is why the game seems fun to them. So finall words - for an Early Acess release the game is ok, but from a gameplay point of view it is hugely overrated at the moment and the reason behind that is because the first impression is really good - not gonna lie here I was hyped too at the start, but ~30 hours later I wont go back to it in its current state...
@@Alobas1984 ay, maybe the game just isn't for you mate. Which is okay, everyone has their likes/dislikes. Ive been solo for a huge portion of the game. Just beat the 4th boss. I enjoy the grind. 7k hours into ark has taught me to enjoy it. What a terrible thing.
