  • It's only through use that you know which pen you like and I definitely like using the Pilot Capless pens in my collection. The Capless is also called the Vanishing Point in certain markets.
As such, I decided to buy the twisting version of the Pilot Capless called the Fermo. Incidentally, the first Pilot Capless which came out in the 1960s was a twisting design.
Since this is an unboxing, it will not contain any detailed impressions as these will only come from longer-term use of the pen. Stay tuned for a follow-up video shortly. As a teaser, the M nib with a CON-40 is way wetter than what is seen in the video since that was a dip test.

It is a very attractive pen and I actually like the chrome trim. I'd love to see how it writes with a wetter ink, like Diamine Oxford Blue or even one of the Iroshizuku inks like Kon-Peki. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comment! Incidentally, the medium nib that this pen came with was already very juicy.

Lovely purchase. It appears to be a bit dry. Isn't it?
Probably a different ink would be good choice. Thanks for the video.

Hi Dash, it (or rather the M nib) is definitely not dry. I have added into my notes after writing with it for a while that it is a wet writer with a converter. Will definitely be revisiting this pen!

@@WrexelsWorld Thank you. I saw the wipe around 14:22 , it looked dry. 😅
Good to know that it actually is a wet writer. Looking forward to the comparison video with VP. Have a great day ahead. Appreciate your reply.

Thanks for the video. Writes rather fine and dry for a pilot medium. Not sure if it's the ink or the pen.

      Hi Wendy,
It was probably a combination of the ink and the fact that I just dipped the pen into the bottle. The M nib actually produces a very wet and smooth line. During reverse writing, it makes a nice F line.

I guess all the Fermos have only chrome trim.. I wish they had a gold trim..
I’m currently torn between a Fermo and Dailog 3, both of which have a similar price (and chrome trim 😞).. Maybe I’ll go with a Dailog since I’ve a Vanishing point (classic black with GT)..

Lamy is overrated. Pilot is better.

Thanks for the useful video. Looks like a lovely pen. By the way, it's "jumps over the lazy dog" and not "jumped". Otherwise, you'll be missing the 's' in this pangram. 😄

Thanks for the reminder! Yes it is my habit to write that.
