Overtaking lane only work on expressway. On national highway truck driver keep driving at middle lane at speed of 50-60. And also they supposed to drive on middle lane. If they kept driving on right lane how will cars overtake? Also cars supposed to drive on right lane on national highway like this. You are getting clearence here because highway is not that busy. If you come to busy national highways like nh48. It's impossible to drive for cars on middle lane. Only drive on middle lane if you are going slow like 60-80. But if you are driving at speed limit 100 then right lane is fine. Overtaking lane concept is only working properly on delhi- mumbai expressway currently as that express way has 4 lanes each side and also no side traffic like rikhsaws and two-wheelers on left side lane.
