  • In this interview Deirdre Schoemaker (Slowfeet Studio) and Mickey Fortanasce talk about the history of Slow Bal. Where lay the roots of this beautiful dance, and how can we honour the old-timers Dean Raftery and Ray Cunningham, whom we have to thank for the existence of Slow Bal?

You're welcome. And thanks for watching it! Keeping the dance alive also means knowing something about its history.

There is a surprising amount of fake news in swing/bal isn't there! This interview has the right hints if you're listening.

I say this with a bit of love and humour but 22:18 tells me us modern swing dancers in our modern scenes can at least sometimes emulate all the aspects of the dane from back in the day. seems that a little trash talk here and there is one of many long standing swing dance traditions lol.
