    I am above these levels but man... I sure could have used video's like these during my climb. The fact you don't blast through and actually give "us" time to think along with you is just awesome man. We all know these games could have been over in about 5 secs lol. That's what separates your ELO climb videos from the rest.

      I think it is too complicated at times. I guarantee you in game 4 no one would know what to do if bg4 at 18:07. at this elo they would blunder the queen. After u attack the pawn at d5

    • @antonyduhamel1166
      @antonyduhamel1166 8 месяцев назад +3

      When the queen moves to G3, wouldn't the better play have been F2? You're sacrificing your queen, but you're guaranteeing that the bishop won't escape.
      FYI, I haven't played chess in 20 years and I have no rating, I'm just wondering if the remnants of my chess instincts are correct or not.

      The way you show your (potential) moves, your opponent’s (potential) moves, and the consequences of both is awesome.
      .
      You actually teach people how to THINK while playing chess.
      .
      Glad I stumbled upon your channel - will definitely be subscribing and following as I learn the game.

    It’s amazing how helpful I’m finding these, even against relatively lower level opponents. Deciding what moves I would make and then seeing what Nelson plays, so many ideas pop up I never would’ve considered. It’s a thousand small challenges to the way I think, per episode. Fantastic stuff!

  • @RedHatcc

    For those in starting out, and within and frankly above this ELO (rating), this is one of your better ratings climb. Appreciate the slow talking, allowing you time to think as well, discussing why pieces are chosen. Thanks!

      Idk what elo means, but I’m just starting out playing. Got any book recommendations?

    • @RedHatcc
      @RedHatcc 6 месяцев назад

      @@cithvalentine1790 ELO is in short your rating. It shows how strong of your player is. It can range from 100, the absolute beginner, to 3000 where Super Grandmaster play. If you play for a while and just do a little study, you can reach 500-800 in Rapid games (10 minutes per player). With some more studying and less blundering you can reach the beloved 1000 ELO (rating) which separates you from the beginner pool. From there goals are typically 1200, 1500, 1700 which is in a very high percentile of players, to the great 2000.
      Depending on if you are a visual type of person or someone who can read and study while moving pieces on the board, I would recommend first RUclips videos on the basics.
      Castling
      Linked Rooks
      Forks
      Skewers
      Pins
      Pawn Structures
      Developing Order and Controlling The Center
      Don’t waste any of your time in the beginning on crazy openings. That is for later in your path upwards to fool around with.

    I am really appreciating the detail in your videos. I'm a beginner (my rating is 412!) and I keep making blunders and mistakes, even when I think I've thought things through thoroughly. A lot of the other creators I've been watching go too quickly through the moves for me to really grasp the concepts/principles. You don't do that, even though it's clear you could win very quickly, you still go through all the steps and possible move sequences. Thank you ❤️

    Don’t know if you’ll get this but thank you very much for this video! Ive never actually studied chess before but recently I was presented with a video of Magnus Carlsen World Championship chess matches and now I got motivated to play more competitively. You took my game from 1003 to 1263 just today! (Rapid 30min games only!) this seriously opened my mind to different positionings, like the London (my favorite right now) and to other option like the bishops to g2,g7,b2,b7. Can’t remember what it’s called but I used it in at least 2 of the four games.! And just watching you play and explaining how you think, mostly, has made my game way different. I’m far more open-minded to the possibilities I have. I still have a hard time considering what my opponent is trying to attempt to do and I’m not brave enough to make power players for pawns, yet (lol), but my game has seriously improved! Thank you!
    P.s. maybe I’ll take the time to learn and try a ‘gambit’

    I've devoured alot of chess content over the years and in addition to being a very good educator you also show why sacrificing officers aren't always as painful as it may seem.
    Personally for me sacrificing like a Bishop for a Knight.. is something I weigh heavily and I also don't think about later recaptured, of all the other big chess streamers.. I've never seen them go over stuff like that and it matters! Cause if you become more conscious about the pros and cons about sacrificing you become more aware of the gamestate.
    Brilliant stuff!

    It is pleasure to see and hear your video. Really nice job! All the best for you... See you next time :)
    P.S. I am playing since I was 4-5 years old... Lessons from my grandpa. Miss him a lot. Great time in my memory and love for the whole life ;)

    I love how chess reminds me of a saying my Dad would tell me growing up. “First thought wrong” Our first thought is not always are best option and when we react emotionally or thoughtlessly we don’t give ourselves any options too respond intelligently.

      Doesn't really apply to higher rated players, because they've played/studied so many games & puzzles and developed their subconscious mind, intuition, & pattern recognition to the point that the right move is usually their first thought most of the times. Several players including Magnus have admitted to this.
