Clean Writing means leaving yourself time to proofread.
Things you Might Notice:
• Typos
• Missing full stops and commas
• Repetition of a thought or phrase
• Missing words
• Repeated words
• Swapped words
Score 5: Strong
In addressing the specific task directions, a 5 response presents a generally thoughtful, well-developed analysis of the issue and conveys meaning clearly.
A typical response in this category:
presents a clear and well-considered position on the issue in accordance with the assigned task
develops the position with logically sound reasons and/or well-chosen examples
is focused and generally well organized, connecting ideas appropriately
conveys ideas clearly and well, using appropriate vocabulary and sentence variety
demonstrates facility with the conventions of standard written English, but may have minor errors
The AWA tips and techniques contained in this video can help assure at least a score of 5 and can push your score towards 5.5 or 6. They apply both to analyse an issue questions and analyse an argument essay questions.
The AWA strategy outlined was used by me to get 6 and 5.5 respectively for the GMAT Analytical Writing Assessment and GRE Analytical Writing Assessment. AWA time management is of course, crucial, and following this AWA advice can really help.

Hey man. Just got done with my GRE test. Your AWA tips were so beneficial. My argument essay went so smoothly following your instructions. And your quant videos were very helpful too. Thanks for making these videos and for giving us such amazing GRE content.
Cheers!
Really helpful and lucid explanation! You have great teaching skills
This video was incredible. Thank you!

Hey Philip, another great video as always. Thanks!
Thanks again!
I have my GRE test on Tuesday, and I have been panicking about writing and verbal sections. Your videos have helped tremendously! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Rohith!
@Rohith Pamidighantam Whats your score?
@@gauravuttarkar9682 I got 320...I realized where I had my pitfalls because I rushed through the questions when the exam started.
Hi Philip. ... how can I develop these two ideas? I have two month before I sit for the gre exam. I have an average of 4 hours/day of study time. I think my typing speed is about 40 w/min and my accuracy is not good. What do you suggest I do over these two months to get a decent verbal and awa score? I have been watching your video with passion and I thank you for the gains I'm making from these videos.
I got 5.5 in AWA and 275 overall
Thank you! This is really helpful, especially the clear idea one. My ideas are usually very vague in my mind when writing.😂
This is very helpful!
very informative. Thank you
Thank you so much!!
1. Clear Idea (Eloquence)
2. Clean writing (appropriate 5min for proof-read)
Awesome!
Such a great video, thank you! Question- what are key elements of a great thesis statement?
Definitely one with no typos, spelling or grammatical mistakes, so leave 5 mins to proofread at the end. Don't forget, it will be marked by software, humans only glance for a couple mins!
Hey make a vedio on commonly used vocab words in every issue and argument
Thank you so much! Do you have suggestions for what topics to write about or which books to read to answers prompts?
My pleasure!
hello tested tutor can you please tell how long an essay should be thanks in advance!
Good job
Thanks Mizanur
Your Next Video topic.. 😐
GRE: Material for preparation, practice and their proper usage would be of great help.
Great idea Sheikh. I am working on this but need to finish reviewing Barrons
Nice video clip
Can you make a video on "Academic writing"..I guess, it will be helpful in GRE context.
Great idea Shaik! Stay tuned.
u r pure monster Phillip ❤
Proofreading is a great piece of advice. However, I often find myself with insufficient time to express my ideas. Even if I devote all the 30 minutes to writing the GRE issue, I can only write about 500 words. Do you think word count matters in GRE issue? Or do you have any advice on how to improve the speed of writing?
Word maximisation is good, but 500 words should be fine. Practice is one answer. Time yourself and try to push to 600 quality words.
Hey Philip. Great video from an erudite of the GRE:).The way you stressed on the smallest of things in the essay was just amazing. Just a question.
What if I encounter an issue or an argument in the GRE about which I don't have any examples to elaborate on?
Hey Aditya, they say you can make up examples, so you could use your imagination!
@@TheTestedTutor Okay. Thank you for your super rapid reply
@@TheTestedTutor well, that's crucial to know. thx
This video is really helpful to me. I going to make sure i proofread for at least 3 to 4 min for sure on my exam. I have my GRE on Sep 4,2019. While writing Issue Essay. I run out of proper examples to present .Any idea for improving this ?.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Well done and good luck Hari! Look for examples from history to guide you.
Hey buddy how your exam went? Mine is on 12th
Please do reply for this doubt as it is urgent to get the answer as exam is approaching near
How to get my written work checked and find out errors which I could not recognize?????
Hey.. thank you!! Just one problem that your latest video on standard deviation is unavailable.
Thanks for letting me know Deep Shah, it's a problem with RUclips it seems. Re-uploading now.
@@TheTestedTutor Your immediate response is always appreciated!! And your videos are extremely helpful.😊
@@deepshah737 And I am grateful for your comments. Video should be uploaded within 10 minutes.

@@deepshah737 Looks like RUclips uploading is down in certain locations. Will try later.
In essay,we need to use complicated words or we can use normal words we are using in daily life?
Simple English is fine, plus maybe one advanced word.
If I write my AWA section in capital letters, will it deduce my score?
PROBABLY
Is it important to use complicated words? or just simple English will do?
Simple English is fine, plus maybe one advanced word.
the usage of "where" is not always related to physical places. "Andy excels in subjects where he has much passion."
So scared for this awa section; even my typing speed is slow let alone content to be wrtten.
Is there a formula for creating time? Just 5-6 minutes
Just stop writing earlier!
🕊
If the AWA on the GRE is not incorporated into the score why is it important?
A minimum threshold score of AWA is required for applying to certain courses
Hi.. how many words should the essay contain for a score of 5 or 6?
Hard to estimate, but a good 5 paragraphs should be fine!
Is 147/143 in the gre a good score?
Depends what you are applying for, for most schools maybe need a bit more
@@TheTestedTutor okay
Thank you
In Indonesian schools we get better grades if we were writing long nonsense gibberish instead of shorter, clear, and focused essay. (Except in top tier Uni's)
he did not blink one time
Blinking means less time teaching
Thanks a lot sir. How can I start issue and argument essay? Sir I'm beginner. Kindly help me as quickly as possible. I belong to Pakistan and also subscribe your channel.
14:24 minutes worth spent.
"in" a chair or "on" a chair, I think it should be on
In, for sure, unless you are standing on the chair!
