  • Emergency Angioplasty was done with no heartbeat on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), the cath lab team along with the interventional cardiologist & bypass surgeon underwent a complex angioplasty of a patient who had a complete flat line on the ECG & no heart beat. The challenge was relished & accomplished by our team at Symbiosis Speciality Hospital.
    Complications:
    1. 55-year-old female
    2. High-risk factors
    3. Complains of acidity (heartburn)
    4. ECG shows minor changes
    5. 2D ECHO - normal pumping of the heart
This case shows that you can have critical heart blockages without any significant changes in ECG & 2d echocardiogram.
While shifting, the patient collapsed with a flat line on the ECG
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was immediately initiated & the patient was rushed back to the Cath lab. On CPR angiography was done which showed 99% block had become 100% on the left side, the patient had no blood pressure & no heart rate.

This happened to me nearly four weeks after my Aortic valve was replaced and a triple bypass. I felt strange at home and let my partner know something was off, she called the ambulance, I don't remember her calling, they turned up but I felt OK only to be told I was having a heart attack. By the time I got to hospital I was unresponsive without a heart beat. I remember the head of the team who worked on me saying to everyone involved that "they'd done it" and thanked them for their hard work. But I was still unconscious on the operating table at the time, Next thing I know I'm coming around in a hospital ward. Scary how close I was to the end and if I'd been alone I'd have died. Thank you to all at Liverpool heart and chest unit for everything, thank you Eve.

I was this patient…. Not literally, but nearly identically. I suffered a widowmaker and died twice as they inserted my stent. With cpr and 2x shocks.
