They're both awesome! They're completely different guitars with different voicings, especially because they've got different pups. I would definitely want both, but if I were in a position where I had to choose, I'd pick the Strat.
I have one of each and have been playing the Tele a lot more recently. I would say that each one is better for different uses: I'll use the Strat when I want some really crisp, quacky funk tones, or anything really bright and sizzly, and actually my band's guitarist is a Strat player so I'll use it to get closer to his tone, too. The Tele I find more useful if I'm playing rock 'n' roll, blues, or midwest emo, which are my three favorite genders. The twist is that both of these guitars are actually modded Yamaha Pacificas. Most people don't know that there have actually been T-type Pacificas in the past, and they're bloody hard to find, but I actually managed to get my hands on one. And now having played it, I can see why there are so few of them on the used market: it cost me $250, but feels and sounds as good as a real Fender.
You simply must own both! I play my tele more than any of my other guitars but grab my strat and LP often. My archtops are now neglected as is my superstrat shredder and acoustics. I’ve really gone full circle. Original and best. LP, tele, strat - the early 50s were incredibly special times. How did they all manage to perfect it first time?! Ever wondered how well a car that hadn’t altered in 70 years of production would sell? Or a food mixer, or tv set? Les Paul, Leo Fender, even Paul Bigsby etc were true pioneering geniuses.
Ive bought almost every model of Fender. I could never fall in love with a strat. Ive narrowed my inventory down to 4 I love (American professional jazzmaster, American performer telecaster, Kurt Cobain Jaguar, and Kurt Cobain Jagstang) As you see, 3 of my 4 are offsets.
The question is misleading. It should be “Which guitar tone or sound works best for YOU the musician. Both of these guitars have excellent usable sounds that work very well in many different applications. If you are playing a dance gig tonight a Jazz gig tomorrow a Blues gig a day later either one these instruments will work very well! Enjoy!!
Tele bridge is iconic and hard to beat. Strat 2 and 4 position are some of the most musical tones you’ll get from any electric guitar and the neck pickup on both hits you in the feels every time.
Favorite Strat positions to me are in this order 4,5,1,2,3. So much versatility in a Strat, but damnit teles are super cool too. I’m getting a Les Paul to compliment my Strat, but after that I have to throw a tele in the mix.
I own both, and it would be really hard to choose one over the other.I love the looks of both, and each one has their own tone, but if i had to choose one,it would be my tele bya slight margin.
I think there's an additional variable: he seemed to be playing a rosewood (curved) fretboard on the Stratocaster, and perhaps a maple (flat) fretboard on the Telecaster (hard to tell) but that affects the playing and timbre a bit.
I don't see a way for either of them to say "this one is better", both of them have their own beauty, colour and refinement. 🙂 If I had enough money, I would have bought them both. 😁😊
I have 5 guitars. Ibanez RG, ibanez electroacoustic, strat, explorer and and very cheap Tele (stagg). Every time I wanna play the guitar my hand by itself picks the Tele. Don't know why.....

And now having played it, I can see why there are so few of them on the used market: it cost me $250, but feels and sounds as good as a real Fender.
I actually really love the sound of the middle pickup of a Strat, and what you did is removing it from the vid.
Ooops, sorry!
Neck pickup on a strat is unmatched.
There's a reason I have two of each. Well, one's an Esquire, but I can't enough of that bridge pickup.
My preference is the Strat, but the Telecaster is a great guitar also.
Hammer vs screw driver. Which is better?
Easy. The Les Paul. Kidding....Tele all the way for me! LSL in particular...
I like them both actually. I have a Strat, and a Tele. Depending what mood I’m in, or what sound I want to achieve. Both great guitars!
I prefer the throaty sound of a Strat. Love my Gold strat ❤
Gold strat! Wow sounds wicked!
@@GuitarVillageFarnham Yeah man. Cost me an arm and a leg but fully worth it 👌🏼
@@rhodes7394 must have bought a prosthetic arm together for picking
@@GuitarVillageFarnham you should check out the gold finished Squier John 5 Telecaster! It’s one beautiful guitar!
Like choosing which child you like better. Or to use a wrench or socket? Both are tools good for specific music genres.
Enjoy!!
Idk man the tele just vibes with me more
Both a must to own and a bit different than each other, love them both ❤❤
Teles pop out better, but I like my Strat too.
Tele bridge is iconic and hard to beat. Strat 2 and 4 position are some of the most musical tones you’ll get from any electric guitar and the neck pickup on both hits you in the feels every time.
Telecaster ❤️
Favorite Strat positions to me are in this order 4,5,1,2,3. So much versatility in a Strat, but damnit teles are super cool too. I’m getting a Les Paul to compliment my Strat, but after that I have to throw a tele in the mix.
Tele gave us the stones
And start gave us literally every one else
I'll go with the tele
I own both, and it would be really hard to choose one over the other.I love the looks of both, and each one has their own tone, but if i had to choose one,it would be my tele bya slight margin.
Dude, if you compare the sound of 2 guitars, play the same thing on both, otherwise, you're comparing apples and oranges
Exactly. No control
HAHAHAHA true

I think there's an additional variable: he seemed to be playing a rosewood (curved) fretboard on the Stratocaster, and perhaps a maple (flat) fretboard on the Telecaster (hard to tell) but that affects the playing and timbre a bit.
I heard a forbidden song! 😛
😂😂 Well spotted!!
I love the sound of the strat more but also love the body style of the tele more but love both. I guess just swapp the pickups lol
Does anyone know what song is playing when the start is in the position 4 ?
+
Tele
The frets in both are huge! They jump out as done by the same person. Amiright?
Telecaster. All day long!
💯🤟
Strat's my first love. But I would really like a split-coil HH tele, just to cover all the tonal options.
Position 2: You get a shiver in the dark, and it's raining in the park, but meantime...
Dang you make both sound great in their uniqueness. Poor comparison.😉
Great job!
The Strat really only has 4 positions cuz nobody plays the bridge
Bullshit.
@@shawnhelsel923ok then…one person plays the bridge….you lol
@@rushindragin361 I play the bridge, so two people actually
@@therealcflatone sounds great and the other sounds like trash lol
@@rushindragin361 Bridge pickup can sound too thin and piercing, but if you play it right it's good, especially in a mix- cuts through really well
I had a heavily modified telecastor absolute beast JB pickups brass saddles locking tuners best sounding tele I have ever played lots of compliments. Regret selling it to this very day. Take my word . If you got a good one, keep it.
Strato sound + Tele body = Perfection
Even tho the strat is more versatile. I always want to go for the tele.
But you can get the Nashville version with the middle pickup to bring back a bit of that versatility.
I have both....they are nothing alike. I'm used to strats but just getting used to the tele...I love all 3 pickup selections on the tele....only like 2 of them on the strat but the strat is so much more comfortable to play standing up than the tele.
I have both a squire Stratocaster (my first guitar.) and a telecaster hollowbody thinline they both sound great
