At 7:22 I can feel her cringing with that crooked drilling, but then later it is revealed that the oil shaft is actually crooked also, and I can feel her sigh of relief lol. Awesome video series thanks!

I hope the one thing that Faye and Danny have taught us is that when you see the one place that is established and charges a little more money, you may want to go with them. They are doing the little things that most places won't do. This goes back to when Faye said she took longer to do an oil change and inspection than most other people. She was actually checking everything, not just breezing through it to get the vehicle in and out.
Danny would be a helluva teacher at a tech school. The guy is a wealth of knowledge. Faye is too, of course.

Kudos Fay. Making Long for and wanting back my 82 & 86 bi turbo Supra. My 82 had pop up head light and pump up Lumbar support seat. Lol. The 86 bi turbo dash had 4 gauges oil temp/pressure, alternater volts, and coolent temp. Good luck. Go for the gusto.

Excellent video! I love the way Danny approaches an engine...like "if I were designing and building it, it would have x or y so it's serviceable". We're all looking at this thinking, stop making everything disposable! We didn't know what the designers and manufacturers were up to.
And you're right, we're stuck at home and need something to do. I've got one oil change, and I'm about to order parts to do my Honda CR-V rd1 suspension, front and back. Now that I changed the struts, all the problems are making themselves known! I also need to rotate the tires on my Subaru.

If Danny was a gunsmith he would be the one who takes the time to make the buttstock screw slots line up when tight because "it looks cool". They line up the trim screw slots on The Orient Express too. It's how you tell the craftsman (craftperson, sorry!) from the assembly worker.

At 9:10, he is at the place where 99% of people would call it done. Danny is going to tap it until it's perfectly flush. This is the difference between a so called "professional" and the real deal.

very cool ~ who would of thought to tig weld that ball and use a puller to remove it. I got some old automotive manuals and did not know they used plugs on the carburetors of the fuel passages very similar to what I see there for the oil

Thank you Faye and Danny. I'm glad the detailed subject of cleaning and sealing was mentioned here. Some heads can loose their ability to circulate and keep an engine running strong. With all the advancements in synthetic oil technology, the newer rebuilds should last decades!

Excellent! Cool random related bit of info for you, Faye: The SR20DE we got in the USA actually has all the same block casting provisions for turbo oil/coolant feed/return as the SR20DET. Early engines often even have some of the ports drilled and just plugged off. Later engines often just have the bare casting with no holes. In either case, you can remove the plugs and tap or drill the block and tap to have factory turbo oil and coolant supply when you turbo an SR20DE engine! You may already know, and you may never use this info, but knowledge never hurts. Just made me think of it. :)

Nice video..I had to do that too a neon motor. Once you remove the plugs for cleaning and machining the block. One plug was a funny size no one had. So tapping for a pipe plug ended a wierd oil leak because the plug that was put in had a slight leak. So all the race motors we built after that, just use a plug and end the issues.

I've done this a time or two to various bits of machinery. Once you start making what was non serviceable/disposable into something serviceable, you'll start seeing things like this everywhere. Small engine carbs, sump pumps, coffee makers. Someone could make a career out of just this.

what he did to the head about the plugs I usually ask to have done to make sure when I drop them off to make sure they get clean and straight. but majority of the time when I take the heads to the machine shop is actually to get the valve guides serviced because of the gaskets that they usei usually ask to get it cleaned and do one other thing port polish as well as do a better job than factory on them. some engines like Mitsubishi they use a weird valve guide seals which start curling into the valve and tear them. when I get them back the one shop I use does the same as he does. makes sure the plugs gets capped because the other places I have worked at also installed a oil gage coming from the head to try to get a reading from that as well when the engine starts. I never trusted a sensor driven gage to be honest I rather see a indicator and a gage. same with some of my custimers. there are some people I did work on there cars and they don't have a concept of maintenance on there car. as well as checking to see if there is some thing needing to be topped off. I looked at one car and new immedeatly told them it would be wise to try to get another car. because I kept seeing messed up things from the power train. the whole thing. issues from the engine and the transmission. a big hole in the pan from the pan on the trans as well as a head gasket issue with the car. I almost got drug to court on them saying I did all that damage thank god for making sure I put in cameras as well as mikes. when ever I do a preinspection I shout to it I need this that and what ever. then order it. if the vehicle is like what I said I walk away immediately and look at a camera and say to much damage need to talk to customer. but I usually take things like that head to a shop like danny to do work on it to make sure it is ok if the customer wants or if it is simple fix like the guides
