    I bought all the Holley Sniper Xflow and supporting ignition for my new build. First one in my area. It took a couple of years to complete my engine and get the car completed. When it works it's amazing. Unfortunately the Hyperspark Dual Sync failed just out of warrantee by two months and only with 300 miles on the build. Left me stranded. No obvious damage, it just failed. Cost me cruising time, a flatbed tow and a new distributor. On the bright side, the new Hyperspark Distributor seems to work fine for now.

    Just called for confirmation of what to do if timing is slightly off about a weak ago and the rep on the phone said not to rotate the distributor. Said it would mess up the phasing. So which is it?

    when you connect the wire to the 12V source do they need to be in different source locations or can the wires be combined and use the same source? Also with the direct battery connection is it okay to stack the Hyperspark battery wires with the Sniper EFI battery wires?

      I know this answer is wayy late but yes, you can combine the wires together into the same 12V source. I would leave the CD box power and ground seperate from the main ECU power and ground but still run them to the battery. Most people combine all power or ground wires into the same terminal which is wrong

      @@Wilson_Racing How can you leave them separate? They are in the same circuit in the car. All electrical systems are technically tied to the battery + and - no matter where you terminate them in the vehicle. I still don't understand why people keep trying to undermine Holley's instructions. "RUN ALL MAIN LEADS DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY". The battery acts as a noise filter and the ECU and CD have internal protection systems.

      @@schrank17 the wires still run to the battery but the wires have seperate terminations so they can be removed individually. ECU has its own power and ground. The CD box has its own power and ground, they both go to the battery. There is no undermining anything. You dont understand what i'm explaining

    Just got my Hyperspark and there's no white wire in the harness. There's a white wire in my 10 pin harness that came with the throttle body. But the wiring that came with the Hyperspark has no white wire to connect it to. Do I have a redesigned harness or is something wrong here?

    Rotor wasn't aligned with the 1cyl mark, does the rotor corner spark at 0 deg from that position/distance? Im new to distributor ign🤷‍♂ 🤷‍♂

    What do you do with the old vacuum line to the distributor since you don't need it anymore plug it off on the efi ?

    How do I know how much advance timing to set? Cam was installed straight up at 0 degrees...

    Amazing how this video has been up for a year and Holley has not answered a SINGLE question posted since then... on THEIR youtube channel. It makes me think twice about buying this kit.

    I have a super sniper and the ECU went up after only 900 miles, my mechanic called Holley and Holley said send it in with the receipt, and they will fix it for free, but I can't find the receipt. So now I'm stuck with whatever the cost is to fix it . The ECU has always been a problem, I think I spent enough buying it, smh

    Question will the sniper ignition system work with a fitech throttle body

      Only if the FiTech throttle body can support controlled ignition. I had the 400hp FiTech, and found out it does not support ignition control. I switched to all Holley parts and ditched FiTech.

    Where can I buy this tool what is the part number. I'm working on a big block chevy. I had to remove the intake and now I know why it's spitting out the throttle body. I need that tool asap.

    If I'm installing it with a Sniper EFI, do I put it in at 0 degrees TDC or 15 degrees before TDC like the EFI manual instructs? Thanks

      Yeah but when they verify timing, even before that the handheld said 15 degrees… So we set it to TDC and the handheld thinks it’s at 15 degrees? Or do we set it to 0 and go 15 degrees BTDC? During verification and in the video they had already done that… HELP.

    They didn't show if the lavender/green off the HyperSpark distributor gets hooked into the distributor or to the CD box.

      It’s honestly driven me nuts too, then contacting Holley is a joke because they don’t respond, tell you they’ll call you back then ghost you… In the instructions it does where everything terminates, not where they start and there’s 4 different sets of purple/green wires…

      The only one with CARB approval as of now is the Atomic EFI.

    So the distributor can technically point any direction as long as the spark plug wires are long enough?

      Yes but that’s the case with any distributor.
      As long as the firing order is correct it doesn’t matter which wire on the cap is which. You can start with any cylinder at TDC of the compression stroke as long as you have the rotor pointed in the correct direction and the correct following firing sequence after it.

    Question:
    Looking at the video and when placing the plastic alignment tool over the rotor you were able to move the housing without the rotor moving. I installed the distributor on a Ford 289/302 and when trying to turn the base, both the rotor and the base move simultaneously which in turn the #1 spark plug terminal does not align with TDC setting, is this normal for a Ford? What am I missing?

      Did you ever get this figured out because I thought about that happening, it seems like they missed a step… You just TDC then drop it in and then clear cap it wherever is pointing is what it looked like but I’m assuming you point to cylinder 1 after setting TDC right?

      Thank you for asking, the way the car was running (backfiring, misfiring etc.….) it would have damaged my engine, so I was not willing to chance it. I removed (the new) Holley ignition cd, and distributor went back to my original Summit CD box and MSD distributor car runs fine now but I am stuck with a distributor and ignition cd.

    I like the installation tool. I don't remember how many times I needed such a tool when installing "Cam sync plugs" on certain Ford waste spark engines.
    Does this computerized spark timing setup include a knock sensor? If it doesn't have a knock sensor included, is there a method to add one?

      I would be curious to know about the knock sensor also. Placement is critical to it working correctly though so it might be tricky for how universal they have made the kit.

    If you already have a MSD 6A box setup and want to switch just the MSD dizzy out with a hyper spark dizzy, do you still use the hyper spark setting in the firmware or stick with the CD Box setting? I read you need to adjust the dwell time but it wasn't clear on the initial preset to use

      As long as your MSD distributor can be locked out and an adjustable rotor is available for it, there's no need to replace the unit with a Hyperspark. You can get the same results without spending as much $. Unless you are using the Hyperspartk ignition box you will select the CDI ignition in the wizard. Thx J

    Can you use the Hyper Spark distributor with the 556-150 ignition coil driver that comes with the Sniper kit? I am running a standard coil. Also would you still set it to 0 degrees if so?

      I know it’s late but yes you can use it with just the coil driver! That’s the setup I’m running on my Factory Five with a 408 windsor

    the Direction that came with the unit says to set the crank at 50 degrees BTDC, you say 0 degrees. Which is it?

    Can you provide the download link for the Handheld software? I have scoured Holley's site and cannot find where the handheld firmware is located. My handheld is 1.1.35 which is obviously not new enough. Thanks.

    What do you recommend for a daily driver built on a 1971 f250 w/ 360fe, a Holly sniper w/ dual sync, 6A MSD, and MSD Blaster 2. Or do you recommend the holly sniper w/ hyperspark distributor, hyperspark CD ignition box, and hyperspark ignition coil?

    I am Installing the Hyperspark now so far so good... I just realized My REPRO GM Tach on my 1964 Chevy C10 was getting the signal from the HEI. I assume now I send the GM Tach wire to the Points White wire? Assumptions can get me in trouble so I better ask.... Before I purchased the Hyperspark system I ran the Sniper alone with the HEI for a year. Now that I have the Hyperspark can I just run the PINK WIRE to the keyed source that I used to power the Sniper when it was stand alone? I have a Painless weatherproof ignition switch RV type its pretty stout as far as ignition switches go it has ACC and all. Thank You Very Much ...Jeff G

      Jeff, Connect your tach to the (dark brown) wire coming from the sniper throttle body. Check out page 16 of the instructions- documents.holley.com/199r11031r.pdf
      And yes, connect the pink wire from the Hyperspark to the same clean switched source you have the pink wire from the sniper unit to. Sounds like you've got a pretty good understanding! Good luck, and let us know how it goes. thx J

      This is not true at all. The Sniper is more advanced than the Edelbrock that has no power adder options. The tablets have so many problems while sometimes they work fine. The Edelbrock can be a good system, but it can have issues, & is considerably old tech. I have never seen an issue with the Sniper, except for the person who shouldn't play mechanic. I have experience with many of all these efi systems.

      You can use the coil driver 556-150 instead of the CD box.

    That dizzy is the same exact setup edelbrock used in there 3500 pro flow for the hei convertion. I know because have the 3500 in my car. All I do is line up the hall effect sensor with the number one tooth on the shutter wheel. The skinny one. I'm usually within 5° of base timing on first fire. I like that dizzy all the same price isn't bad would make a nice upgrade.

      You follow the diagnostic troubleshooting guide and check each and every connection, ground and power source till you find the problem.
