I watch you because you are not extra. I actually can’t stand “over the top” people who are only acting that way to get attention. I learned when I started watching RUclips for makeup tips and product suggestions, not to trust anyone who acts extra because there is a reason behind it, and it’s not to benefit the subscribers.

What makes you "not extra" in my eyes is how you treat all makeup as equals, no matter how expensive or inexpensive. And, you don't feel the need to keep up with designer labels in terms of clothing and accessories. I love this about you!! And lastly, how much you talk about family life, both the good and not so good. Watching your videos is like I'm sitting down with a neighbor and playing with makeup!!!💋💄❤

I think the comment about you not being ‘extra’ was meant as a compliment. It’s not that you don’t love some luxury items or have expensive tastes, but you are so relatable and authentic. You aren’t beholden to brand sponsorships, so we feel like we can trust you…and while you may enjoy the finer things in life (and have the ability to afford them), you are not snobbish about makeup and never hesitate to laud a drugstore brand or product if it is really the best. You are empathic and honest, which is why I enjoy your videos even though we have very different makeup styles. Keep up the great content and just be you! ❤❤

I don’t know what “not extra” means and it doesn’t matter. I just know you are so sweet and relatable. You don’t do fifty steps when putting on your makeup. First let me begin by saying that I after watching this video when it first was posted, I had to think about responding before I posted a comment. I am a 75 yo makeup lover and though there are many mature gurus that post on youtube, I find that I enjoy watching you and you are my favorite. You are informative, honest and enjoyable to watch. You give honest reviews and when there is a product that may not be so great, you find a way to present it that is not terribly negative. You recommend other folks makeup channels and there is no drama or cattiness on your channel. Honestly Em, in a world with so much negative social medial you are one joy that makes loving the makeup world enjoyable and a break from the world of negativity. You are also genuine and your parents did an awesome job with both you and Pup. Keep up the good work and this 75 yo is right there with you!

Not sure what the extra comment meant but of all influences out there I only follow about 5 and you are in that group...when you post I don't miss seeing the video. Love the great advice...mix of affordable and high end...and many laughs...today I identified with spending on makeup and not clothes. I'll dropa lot at Sephora or Ulta...then turn around for a great drugstore dupe. But won't buy a T shirt over $10...lol. Keep up the great work Emily...we love you just the way you are!!

I purchased the first pallet by Patrick Ta for my birthday, and I grab for it anytime I don't want to think about what look I want to do, for a natural look, or for a smokey glam. I have definitely grabbed for this pallet more than I have any other pallet the last 5 months. It is So beautiful and always looks amazing. Goof proof and stunning.

PS. Try your second palette again using the highlight powder first then the cream (I didn’t love it either) but definitely like it more using the cream on top. I’m just a Grandma who loves makeup, collecting makeup and everything about makeup 🥰❤️ I own both his eyeshadow palettes and can’t decide which I love more. Also, I’m the same as you, I will go to the clearance rack for clothes but will not hesitate to spend $70 bucks on eyeshadow 😂

I’ve been a long time watcher of your videos and I’m not sure I’ve ever commented! I just wanted to say a few things! I have recommended you to every single friend, every forum asking for RUclipsr recs, etc. I remember one time, years ago, telling my mom about how I’d finally found a RUclipsr who is articulate and doesn’t use filler words like “like” and “um”. I know it’s a small detail but it’s so unique. And I mean no disrespect to other RUclipsrs, but you are incredibly well spoken. You’re also authentic and real and I base all my makeup purchases on your reviews. I’m not sure what extra even means in this context but you are the only RUclipsr I’ve personally been consistent with for at least 7 years now so you’re doing something right. I would love to see you recreate looks that makeup artists do. It doesn’t have to be with their own products but to do the placement of products the way they do it. For me, the way you do your makeup is predictable (because it works and looks good) but venture out with different techniques. Id love to see those videos.

Love your video uploads. I’m pushing 60 and haven’t worn much makeup in the past. I’ve started wearing makeup almost daily after watching your uploads. I’ve found quite a few products that have become my favorites after seeing you use them and talk about them. I use heatless curls to curl my hair. I like the flexi rods. I purchased them on Amazon and really like them. I sleep in them-they are comfortable to sleep in. You might want to give them a try if you haven’t already. They come in various sizes.

Hi Emily. I’ve always wanted to tell you this but you have the best eyelid space for creating such beautiful eyeshadow looks. I have slightly hooded eyes and not the same kind of real estate you have on your lids. I wish I could create the same kind of looks you do because they always look so beautifully done.
This is a great look, and I particularly liked the foundation. It seemed like you didn't use much and it totally covered and the finish was great!

It would be so much fun! He might step on a few random legos or polly pocket dolls - but all in all I think we'd have a blast together! Oh and then he could come to after-school pickup with me, maybe cheer practice LOL :D The possibilities are endless!

And i agree with everything you said about brands being too cozy and over the top with influencers, and how refreshing it is to support content makers who aren't trying to be all that. I am drawn to your channel because you are put together and beautiful, informed and knowledgeable but also relatable and real. I was laughing so hard about the mom of 3 from illinois getting that Miami college girl bronze vibe 😂 I'm a mom of two and I can just relate to your life so much more than a lot of the younger artists or those that aren't being full time moms as well. ❤
