In general. If the hobby is about collecting, then there is a cost associated to it. The cost of product is calculated in the enjoyment of the hobby. So even if you don't get value back in the set, you need to deduct the time value for the enjoyment. If there is no joy, then it's not a hobby. It's a job.
I've got a few coming. The XFractors are such a good parallel. I got these from Targets website but they were in Walmarts this week at $45 a box. Yikes.
I have commented on similar videos over the past few days. While I appreciate the idea of "value" on a recent product as many in this hobby look to pull and sell immediately, many more of us purchase for the enjoyment and profitability of the longer term investment. A month out doesn't accurately dictate a products value and its a painfully unproductive exercise. I look at the 3 and 5+ year values. I think a video that looks back to compare say Chrome 2022 or 2021, 2018 or 2017, etc. would be of more interest. How have those card values increased or decreased. I see cards like individual stocks. Sure, Chrome 2024 looks overvalued today... and it very well could be in 3 years too... but critics said the same thing to me in 2017 when I purchased NVIDIA at $5 a share. Unless you get an extremely rare card and can really turn a quick profit, this is a long game and patience typically wins out. Thanks for the content. I enjoy the channel and subscribe.
I appreciate the thoughts. The reason I post values/prices isn't for the purpose of long term investment or rip and sell. It's mainly to show what are you getting for your money. If I was to purchase this product, am I getting some value in return? I wouldn't go out, buy a used car, and pay 50% over Kelley Blue Book. It's one way to measure and review a product. Personally, I don't view sports cards as a long term investment. I view them as collectibles. Any long term ROI is a side benefit. While some will appreciate in value over time, the vast majority depreciate over time. It's mostly a guessing game, I'd rather steer clear of. Again, super thankful for your thoughts. Love to hear people's thoughts and insights on the hobby.
Bought one and got an Elly prism and Elly All etch rookie rush. So it looks like i broke even. I found the box hidden behind the as seen on tv products looking for hidden optic football.
These are $45 at my walmart and they sold out all the boxes in one day. It feels like they baked the price of the MVP buyback into the cost of the box but I know I don't participate, if I wanted $20 and no good cards I'd just not buy the box to begin with.
I use last sold comps. I might have been too generous on the misc base rookies. What was I off on? I'd like to take a look at them and hopefully learn for future vids. Thanks for the input.
@@huxbux yea got it in Edmonton walmart but I pulled a auto refractor justin martinez # out of 499 which is kinda nice an a holliday an a few other good 1z! Lmao! Which it was better name could've got it graded
Hey everyone! Can we get our first win in the Value Challenge Series? Got a tough one today. Enjoy!
Sweet hits! The Willingham Auto was sweet no doubt! Also nice Evan Carter pull! Thanks for sharing!
Always happy to get an auto out of retail. 😁
Love the profit videos. Helps dial the value on these cards!
I like to think it's useful and entertaining all at the same time.
Really like the series…very good info!

Sure. Entertainment has a cost. I guess the cost of hobby entertainment has nearly doubled in the last 4 years.
Surprised you got as close as you did. Ripping wax is a drug and too many of us are addicted. These videos are enjoyable though.
Me too considering what was pulled. They weren't bad, just not great.
I have yet to see these in stores. I finally decided on a MONSTER Box from Target. Let's hope those are loaded for a change. Have a great weekend!

@@huxbux YES! There were 2 available at $44.97 in my Walmart this morning. I said "NO WAY JOSE, NOT IN MY STORE!" Lol!
@ScaryTerryCards I sure hope this isn't a trend with Topps
Cool set 🎉
I bought 2 blasters of Optic basketball on Walmart they are $29.99 now. Hoping to pull one of the blaster exclusive glitters 👌🏼
Goodluck my friend!
Not to bad, you got moe than 2/3 of your $ back. Better than I thought you would.
A buyback and one good Refractor Rookie away from the green
Good luck on the next opening
Gonna need it 🤞
So close! You are due, calling a W on the next one!!
Might have to turn to hobby for the next episode
Great vid, maybe we will do better when the megas are out
Hope so. Should see them this week.
2024 Donruss Baseball is a good candidate to make $$$ ripping wax
Might have to try that 🤔
@@huxbux you would likely get a lot of views if you did
Nice set!
Nice set, terrible rice point.
Nice pack
Got close. Keep up with the cool 😎 videos.
Thanks! Will do!
You got closer than I thought! Thanks for taking an L on our behalf😂
I'm a man of the people 🤣

Watching others open wax is probably more enjoyable than doing it myself 😅
I'm here to help 😁
Nice content and fun video
Thank you, sir.
Sweet ❤
Well done
Thanks!

Can't believe people are still doing that.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏼
These are fun to rip but I won't buy them unless I get a discount of some sort
$40 is an absurd price. The only justification is the rookie class and that's a stretch.
Rough go this time.

Plus the increased checklist means Topps nullified what made the buyback great. 😒
Mine was a little bit better than yours, got a Jasson domingoz rookie rush, worth 10 bucks. Still rough
Retail iss rough 😢
Even massively over inflating the prices of the hits… still a 50%+ loss. Yikes.
I use last sold comps. I might have been too generous on the misc base rookies. What was I off on? I'd like to take a look at them and hopefully learn for future vids. Thanks for the input.
Still like the set but $40 per blaster puts you in a big hole. 🕳️
It def ups the degree of difficulty 😬
Target they are $40
Yep that's where I got them from 👍
Rough price point
If they keep it up, they can -10x the hobby 🙄
For the giveaway
I just paid $61 at Wal-Mart! Lmao
Didn't know you could buy half a blaster 🙃 Seriously what cost 61?

I always forget it's way more up north and overseas. Sounds like you got a pretty good box at least.
@@huxbux yes I did! I watched a few shows like yurz b4 I opened then opened an lucked out. Lmao! Have a good 1. Peace out
Be good. Have a great weekend!

Rawr!
Hahahaha oh sorry thanks for the video 0-6 😢
We'll get them next time...maybe 😬
@@huxbux I finally broke down and got a blaster ordered today since it was only $28 after my discount I thought it’s worth a shot 😂

First! 💯
☝️
That was piss poor
I'm in no way affiliated with R. Kelly. However, Topps might be...
Topps is ripping off everybody this year
Def feels like a money grab. Companies gonna do, what companies do.
Anyone who pays 45 dollars for a blaster needs to seek help. You have an addiction.
I only paid $40 so I should be good 😎
These are way to overpriced in my opinion
They have been. Doubly so for 2024.
