In 2019 Nancy lost her brother Phillip and her father too, she was reportedly “devastated” by these losses. Then this past pandemic year changes your perspective about things. I believe it probably wasn’t any adverse feelings toward her former cast mates, they reunited in recent years prior and they seem genuinely fond of each other. I think it’s cool the way Lisa covered for her friend without leaving room for negative speculation.

I agree, some people are still not over the events of last year and to have lost 2 close family members just prior to 2020, that’s just devastating. There are times that it feels like events in life break you and fixing that break takes different amounts of time for each person.

Nancy does not owe anything. I am also sure she does not want to answer questions to rumors about her brothers private life. Also the three were introduced as original members which Nancy was not she joined the show in the second season.

Nancy is old enough and has enough life experience to know if you don't want to do something or if you have to put your family first, that's what takes priority. She has earned success and doesn't have to sacrifice her family's convenience or her peace of mind for a paycheck. You learn with age, and especially the loss of the most important people in our lives, that life is too short to miss things with your kids or to even inconvenience your life unless you genuinely want to do something or need the money to survive, which she doesn't. She's not some kid who needs the job or recognition.

Yeah. I saw that movie, and I noticed that she was in it as well. He was really annoying, and Lisa didn't appear to be trying to remember her lines. It look like she was having a hard time hearing him. Like there was some kind of technical issues causing a delayed response.

There is no drama with Lisa, Mindy, Kim, and Nancy at all. I know we want to see our favorite TV actors on reunion shows but many have lives and other commitments. People do move on with their personal lives and find the time when it works out for them.
Nancy had said many years ago that she was done with The Facts of Life , and had moved on. So I don’t think she was trying to snub anyone.
And yet, she has still participated in several reunions projects with her castmates from the show. The reason why she did not appear and the 2001 reunions movie was because of scheduling conflicts with her hit show "the division." She also rejoined her castmates for the TV Land Awards special honor of the show in 2011, & she rejoined her castmates to appear in Kim Fields' lifetime Christmas movie, "you light up my christmas" in 2019, so I don't think she's completely moved on. I think she's got a family that she prioritises, like Lisa Whelchel said.

Ms. McKeon did NOT owe the fans any explanation. The live show went well and the world went on the next day. Whatever reason she wouldn’t or couldn’t do it is fine by me. There’s definitely NO drama with Ms.McKeon and the other cast cuz they reunited b4 many times. The live taping is done, everyone is back to their lives. Leave it be.

Exactly, there's no drama going on. Nancy has said many times over the years that she loved her character (Jo) from FOL, but she just doesn't want to play that role again and has specifically chosen to focus her career on movies, and other TV series (like The Division for example). She played the most popular character on FOL, and did it so well that she could have been type cast for life. I'm glad she was able to move on and play other roles and didn't end up being type cast like so many other actors have.
Exactly! Mindy has said the cast continues not to get paid appropriately for the syndicated reruns of the original show that still get played to this day. I think she said they don’t get paid at all which is lousy in terms of their contracts and not fair for them as grown women who really made a positive impact. …not cool. Contrast that to Jennifer Anistons Friends era who forced the network to pay them a million per episode. Must be a bit weird.
I will always cherish Facts of Life. It’s like a pre Sex & The City. It had a diverse cast talked about everything as a young adult women. I’m glad they did try to honour it cause it was a one of a kind show!

In the comments, someone said you had a nice try with your explanation. You replied - "What did I miss?"
I say that you missed a few possible explanations that don't put these ladies into a "backstage drama" over a reunion.
1. Nancy's brother passed away on December 10, 2019. Considering that the filming takes place very close to the date of his death, and it's only been two years, could have had something to do with it. My mom passed away in 2003 and I still have days, especially around Christmas where I get depressed over how much I miss her. Isn't it possible that Nancy is still mourning and possibly depressed over her loss and didn't want to be there?
2. You said school starts in September and that her kids would have started then. Many schools across the US start in late August, if a child transfers to a new school in December, October, April or any month during the school season, they're going to start school within _that_ month. Kids who started off as home schooled can decide to attend a school after months into the school year. It's quite possible that one of those scenarios happened for them.
3. There's a pandemic. Nancy may have wanted to avoid crowds that she didn't just _have_ to be around.
4. Something more important in her life may have taken top priority. It happens. She has a husband and kids, so she just might be the type to put them first.
Also, money doesn't control everyone to the point of talking a lot about it or dropping everything to get to it.
Nancy, Kim and Lisa did Mindy’s podcast “Monday’s with Mindy” so whatever it was, it’s wasn’t between the friends.

Ok let’s not start looking for drama…There’s no beef with the original ladies…they still keep in touch, Nancy was on Mindy Cohn’s podcast and Kim’s Instagram live and they have an ongoing sister feed.
It could very well be legitimate for Nancy plus the stress of Covid if she’s more family focused at this turn she isn’t desperate for a pay check. I’m really disappointed too that she couldn’t attend or didn’t have someone to back her up confidently enough…but I get if she wants to close that door of Hollywood and LA to be with her family.
It’s a LIVE show they don’t do every day let alone year…not since 2019 I’m glad they got through it unscathed.
My only wish is that they just did the original cast.

I have to agree with the other commenters. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Flying to LA to appear on a live show is not a commitment of “a few hours.” Lots of travel, rehearsal, blocking, makeup, etc. If you had recently lost your brother and had a family to look after, would you just say “ahhh, screw it” and fly off to LA for 2-3 days?
Let's break down facts. Of course, any actor is paid to be anywhere. An actor is paid to cut the ribbon at the opening of a car dealership. How do you know she turned down a significant paycheck? It could have been $100,000. But I doubt it. How much did the big stars receive to be there? Not sure, but I bet they were sort of doing it out of the goodness of their heart. They were doing it for fun. So maybe Nancy was offered $50,000. At the most. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was talk show scale either. Obviously, she's not acting in any significant roles? She was in six episodes of an Amazon series called PANIC this season. That may not be amazing, but she is a working actor. Also, when you move, your children often change schools. That was the dumbest part of this condescending video.

This is toxic fandom. She didn’t want to do it. What’s the big deal? She doesn’t owe it to anyone. She gave 8-years as Jo, and that’s all she needed to do. I watched facts of life back in the day enjoyed it very much as to why Nancy McKeon wasn't there there could be many reasons for it but the bottom line is Nancy chose not to do it so why don't you just leave it alone
This video comes off as really bitter and selfish. Of course, Lisa, Mindy, and Kim were paid, why the hell shouldn't they be? Time is money, friend. That doesn't mean they aren't ungrateful to the fans or owe us anything. Lisa did nothing wrong by trying to give a neutral and positive answer as to why Nancy wasn't there, whether 100% accurate or not. She's not Nancy's keeper. If anyone wants to know the real reason they need to ask Nancy herself, but even then, they may find themselves being asked a question in return, like: "Who wants to know?" And, "I owe you an explanation for my life choices because, why, exactly?" I agree that Hollywood is full of craziness, but this doesn't qualify. These women are allowed their privacy on matters that are none of our business.
Your bitterness about Nancy not being there almost sounds personal. While it was disappointing not to see her there, it's really no one's business. They have had other Facts of Life reunions in the past, and sometimes another cast member wasn't available. But they did all reunite for the TV Land Awards a few years back.
Nancy was on set for the Facts of Life from day 1 of season 2 - Series Finale and that’s all she owes. We are gracious that Lisa, Kim and Mindy still occasionally reunite. Whether money or whatever. Maybe her kids we’re having personal issues with schooling. Just because it’s December we don’t know what’s going on and maybe Lisa was covering but I’m sure if Nancy had the time or the studio was a block away she might ha f been more than happy. We don’t know, but we all know Nancy looks amazing today and doing well so whether she was there or not. Not like they did much anyway. Except Lisa who sang the theme song and was done.

She lives here in Texas on a Ranch just out side of the Texas Hill Country Area not far from Houston TX and for the Record She has been at those little Reunions over the Years and her 3 Children are from High School age to Elementary School Age so Yes I Believe She may have had Other Commitments and she still Works not always in front of the Camera but behind it as well.
She has moved in the last couple of years to Pennsylvania
Not surprised Nancy didn't show up...There was a TV movie several years after the show ended she was not a part of, and whenever there are the where are they now interviews, she's never a part of them..😅
She’s really been trying to live a private life too for years and focus on her family in Texas she doesn’t want to be in the spot light.
Kinda sad we don't see her embrace the reunions.. Jo was extremely significant character.... They retooled the entire second season to include her, and if you rank their popularity, she was right up there with Lisa..

When TFOL originally ended, the four women made a pact that they'd never do a reunion and Nancy has definitely stuck to it. They all seem to be friends but she has never appeared in any of the Facts of Life reunions.

Nancy McKeon hasn't acted since THE DIVISION went off the air in the early 2000s. She currently lives in Dripping Springs, TX and has pretty much kept a low profile for the past decade. The death of both her father and brother have also been contributing factors to her choosing to live a life out of the public eye.

It is Nancy's business. But Lisa DID offer an explanation, and I'm sorry that it doesn't make any sense that Nancy couldn't attend because she recently moved and her kids just started school. If Lisa had said, "it's nobody's business why Nancy wasn't there. It's a personal matter", I would respect that. Lisa DID offer a reason, and I call BS on that reason, so it's perfectly legitimate to say that.

Dude, really?? She’s not obligated to be there if she’s got other stuff going on. A Facts of Life Reunion is a nice thought, but’s not a make or break situation that’s all about money. The fact that she can politely pass on it isn’t “typical Hollywood”. If anything, if shows that she’s a normal person with a private life too. Imagine someone wanting to make sure their kids are adjusted first before galavanting off to enjoy the spotlight on themselves like a narcissist. Now THAT would be typical Hollywood.
Nancy McKeon has never struck me as a drama queen. She does, however, strike me as a woman who never allowed Hollywood to mold her into their image. So yeah, I could totally see her choosing her family over making a quick buck for a "reunion" moment. I get it. The media types need something to talk about. A lot of this comes down to people having lives outside of Hollywood. I know high school reunions seem small in scale, but I have not been back to a single one, not 5 years, 10 years, 15, 20, or in this case, this year was 25. People talk, but I have a life and that is reality. To speculate why someone makes a guest appearance is speculative at best. We don't know and to think Lisa Whelchel knows is more speculative. Whelchel made it clear that all the women stay in touch with other in a US Weekly interview. So, that is about it and that is the facts of life.
I follow both Nancy and Lisa on Instagram. They interact in the comments regularly and that interaction seems genuine. They claim that they have remained friends ever since Facts, and I believe it. Just because she didn't show up for this doesn't mean they don't get along, or that there is some significant reason she didn't participate. There could be numerous legitimate reasons that, quite frankly, are no ones business but Nancy's. She doesn't belong to the public. Just because she was part of the show 30 years ago does not obligate her to appear now. Live, and let live.
I think everything about Nancy not being there has been pretty much answered by everyone else; so I will say this about her in-ear not working, I’m up on stage at my church a lot, granted as large as a church I go to, it’s not near as technical as Hollywood, but still it’s using the same type equipment. We’ve had times where glitches happen with microphones not working, monitors not working, feedback… etc. One time during a Christmas performance one of the spotlights which was supposed to automatically come on and track the soloist across the stage for some reason turned in the opposite direction, came on and started tracking across the back row of the audience! Technical glitches can happen at any time with even the most sophisticated equipment.
One of the funniest scenes on FOL is when Blair explains steak tar tar to Jo in a way she can understand. Anyone else remember it? Evey time I see steak tar tar on a menu I think of it!

If Nancy was willing to turn down a 5-figure paycheque for one night away from her kids because they had been so traumatized by their recent move and they were going to a new school so Nancy was sitting in the classroom with them the next morning and there’s no way they could go without their mother for a handful of hours, then she is a mother that the world has rarely seen. Bravo to her.

My understanding is that her last gig was very emotionally draining and it was also before she had her children and she would rather wait and focus on being a mom then being an actress and that's a good thing and other people have decided to do that in their careers

Can't fault McKeon for not going. Getting a flight and a hotel and all that for a 30 second appearance isn't as appealing as you make it sound. The money probably wasn't that good either. It's just late night TV. Not everyone wants to use up a day or two for something like this.
This event was likely planned several weeks if not months in advance. Nancy lives in Austin Texas which isn't that far from California. She had plenty advance notice to make sure she was available for this event. I don't care what moral principles a person might have, no one would refuse a paid gig unless something major happened or they were not invited. There is more to Nancy's absence than what is being said officially.
