The suitable current for the LED to work perfectly is the main cause to choose this value of resistor under 5 v dc supply

We have an underground cistern tank at our mall and i would like to install a water level indicator/alarm. So that whenever my team will check the water level of our tank , it will be easy for them to monitor. Currently we are just using a dip stick to monitor our water level. Thank you!

Like this circuit cannot be used because passing current through water produce hydrogen and oxygen and some metal get displaced from the wire into the water and this make water dirty.

Yes, this kind checking level is always used along side with switch to connect current for very short time just to check level, so there is no problem with hydrogen :), of course metal for sensors should be higher quality to prolong service, as they be with contact with water

i need help. i made one like this watching you. now the problem is - the cables go inside the tank. are melting over night .. running power is 12 v . mainly the +ve input burns fast. . i have changed wires couple of times. but its burning - with in 12- 30 hours.. what may be the solution for it.. please let me know .. if any one can understand my point... thank you...

You're probably using thin wires, 12V burns thin wires like on the video. Try using thicker wires.

I did and it works fine. I also put micro SPST switch inline on +9V wire to control the circuit power. I used 470 ohm resistors and a regular LED, just like his wiring design.
