Not so long ago root have 52 or 53 half centuries and only 16 centuries and now he is on 33 centuries and 65 half centuries his conversation rate improves massively and more consistent now what a player he is 🔥

After 97 Tests, it was 17 tons and 49 fifties. Going to his hundredth Test, he then hit three in a row; 98th, 99th and 100th to leave him with 20 tons and 49 fifties after 100 Tests. Up to that point, it was the most scores over fifty that any batsman had ever managed by their hundredth Test.
All in all, you’re right; he now has 33 tons and 64 fifties; converting 16 out of his last 31 fifties into hundreds, according to cricinfo.

I’m not sure he’ll beat Tendulkar’s record though; he would need another 45-50 Tests, or about 80 to 90 innings (bearing in mind it’s unlikely that he would bat twice in every Test, what with rain and possible innings victories and retired hurts etc). That’s about three and a half to four years, without injury or loss of form, he being four months shy of his 34th birthday … it’s possible… but a big ask. It would be akin to one of the twelve labours of Hercules, were he to do it!
The thing about Root is not just the fact that he's the best in the world, it's that he has zero ego about it all as well. So much talent, and a genuinely likeable bloke as well.
As with most 'lucky' or 'gifted' players, (I heard that) when Root was young he spent a ridiculous amount of hours honing his skills, the more you practice the 'luckier' you get ❤️

He was still bowling well and would have retired after the next Ashes down under. I know he doesn’t have a great record against the old enemy. But his best performance in an Ashes series came down under in 2010-2011

He will probably not reach Tendulkar's runs record (another 3,658 runs may be too many) but he may finish with the most scores over 50 (Root needs 23 more to get past Tendulkar). To do so, at his present rate of scoring he would have to play 43 more tests and that will require four more years of tests injury free, as well as not having a slump in form. The little master didn't score a century in his last 23 tests (40 innings) and only three half centuries in his last 22 innings. A lot of people predicted that Tiger Woods would break Jack Nicklaus' record of golf majors and for various reasons, particularly injury, he didn't manage it.

Reverse sweeping spinners is good one ,but not reverse scooping pacers.
Yeah it was quite sad to see him get out like this. It’s not the first time and he’s been out like this quite a bit. But again it was such a treat to watch in 2022 when he played it each time with perfection. I think if he continues to want to play it he definitely needs to rethink what he goes after and practice it more
