    Auctions can be a bit hit or miss, that said I have done quite well over the years. Once bought a box of tatty bags for a couple of quid and one had a couple of gold bracelets hidden inside the lining! I would certainly sort through the buttons carefully might be bakelite or silver ones or other treasures in there. I think you did very well 👍

    Re the Scribbans-Kemp tin - Scribbans & Co bought George Kemp Ltd (biscuit makers in London) in 1946 and changed their name to Scribbans-Kemp Ltd in 1946. They sold the bakery part of their business in 1969 and renamed themselves to S & K Holdings. So the possible date range is 1946 to 1969. With regards to the plates etc. that aren't worth bothering with individually, have you thought of doing bundles by era? Pre pandemic I used to buy cheap lots at auction because I wanted 1 or 2 pieces in the lot. The rest I would put in lots of say 5 designs from a certain decade. Then with the rest I'd put in "Boot Sale" or "Craft" Lots collection only. This lead to one local customer who would buy boxes of chipped ceramics they smashed up into little pieces to make beautiful mosaics, another who bought odd cups and mugs to make into bird feeders, and one who bought unchipped ceramics to sell at a boot fair. Certainly not big money, but being paid a few pounds for something collected from your doorstep is better than nothing, keeps stuff out of landfill and gives others the chance to make some money themselves.

      Thank you for the info on the tin, also great advice on the mixed lots by era or for craft. I hadn’t thought of that 🙂

    I think the Corning smoked glass thing is one part of a terrarium plant helper. Complete, they sell well in the USA for around $100, so might be worth selling as a replacement spare. The clear glass trough looks like an art deco posy bowl. Do an image search on the oval blue flow pattern dish. Victorian ones can sell well. It might be Henry Alcock Touraine. Re the buttons, I would pull out all the pearl and glass ones to sell as a bundle.Lingerie makers and costume departments buy them. Likewise separate any metal military ones.

    • @andreahills74
      @andreahills74  Год назад

      Ah fab thank you 😊 I’ll do a bit of research on the plate and ‘trough’. Good advice on sorting the buttons. I was just going to sell as mixed lots.

    Great video, very enjoyable Thank you. When I was at school and we had summer fetes, we were always asking for odd peices of crockery. It was to put on like a Welsh dresser and the idea was to throw balls at it and you would get a prize depending on how many you broke. Maybe if their is a village fete where you are, you could use the chipped items for that xx

    Interesting selection. Stall is right about the brown glass Corning plant pot. It should have a round tray underneath. Perfect for growing orchids. I may have the matching base if I can find it I'd be interested in the pot. The 2 JAJ Pyrex plates which are not Carnaby are a pattern sometimes called snowflake which is not so common. I think you are confusing the design with Chelsea as it's the same similar colours and you are right Chelsea is very common. Pie dishes, white pudding dishes all sell on eBay not for a fortune but it's all gravy after the Portmerion. Some good advice about selling the damaged china plates for mosaics. The teapot needs some bleach solution left overnight and then put through the dishwasher. I look forward to seeing these items sell in the future.

    • @andreahills74
      @andreahills74  Год назад

      Thanks Cath… ah so it’s a plant pot! That makes sense. Should sell ok then, even without the saver dish. I’m pretty sure the plates I have are the Chelsea pattern. I’ve had it before and it’s exactly the same. The Snowflake design I have in white and I’ve actually drafted a few lots of this week.
      Yes, that was great advice for the broken plates, I’d not thought of that at all.
      I’ve got Astonish cup cleaner which works a treat on teapots 🙂

    I think you did super well at that auction! That box of china for 2 pounds! I would have bought that too. In that box you have a serving platter with floers at the corner, I'm pretty sure that's victorian, someone will want that. The blue and white dish looks like what is called flow blue, that could be a little gem. Well done!

    I paid £30 for the box, however, the item I wanted, I sold it on eBay for £80. As they say - Someone's rubbish is another person's treasure. 💷

    Just a suggestion, but a video on how you clean your ceramics may be of interest. The Biltons plate is a Kathie Winkle, love her stuff. I've tried selling plant pots and unless they're really unusual they stay around forever. I've also tried selling vintage buttons but was a complete waste of time, I think I'm going to throw them back in a tin and sell as a lot too lol
