FINALLY!! Somebody did a video comparing the size of the Armscor revolver to the S&W model 10 and 36. Thank you so much! I have be looking for a comparison like this for months.
Absolutely LOVE this gun. I have owned mine for a while. it is never gonna win a beauty contest, but it shoots really great. low recoil and goes bang every time you pull the trigger. I rubbed it down once a week with hoppes #9 oil for the first month and now it has a beautiful patina on it. trigger pull was a little heavy at first, but after 250 rounds down range it loosened up and is now sweet. and Colt detective grips and holsters work great with it. thanks for the video.
Got mine from Woodbury Outfitters for $179 delivered. It also came with rubber grips. shoots great and I have put +P's through it in very limited quantities. Keep it loaded with +P for the "just in case" moment.
Taurus makes a 6 end .38 SPL +P Revolver snubbie called the Defender in multiple colors MSRP under $300.00. About the same as the M206 but the Model 856 is a Ultra-lite aluminum gun weighs 16 + oz.
Thanks for your post on the Rock Island Armory m206 revolver. I just pickup up one a few days ago. I'm pleased with mine for the same reasons you have given.
Great video! I TOTALLY agree with your statements about this little gun. I have owned one for about a year now, and have shot about 700 rounds through it. It has behaved like a champ! I don't have any complaints. It's been very accurate and reliable. It shares duty as my CCW. Sure, I like semi-auto handguns, but there is something about those wheel guns that I love! Thanks for the disassembling section in your video, it was very informative. Again, great video.
+Mike Courtney thanks I do have a few other videos on it comparing it to the colt & smith & wesson also i have a close up in HD of this revolver check it out.
The wood grips look good but for shooting the plastic grip is much better. I took mine out for the fist time and put 140 rounds thru it, reloads, federal and Aquila. The only incident was on three occasions the trigger locked back but reset when I pressed the trigger.
13:05 Actually it's not so much copied from S&W nor the old Colt design. It's more like the later Colt lockwork that began with the Trooper Mk III in 1969. Not only is it cheaper to produce; it's also much more durable than the older Colt lockwork.
+1Nature Lady Your welcome it was something i made a point to do being i could not find a detailed video on it before i bought one. Thanks for watching.
I have one of these. Repaired it three times. The weak part on this gun is the spring on the pawl or hand. It breaks and the gun locks up. Numrich sells replacements with same weak spring.. I replaced the spring with a heaver spring no more lock up functions good for what it is.
I'm glad I got mine from my LGS. he let me unbox and hand pick through 5 of them,3 of the 5 the cylinder hit the forcing cone lol and after taking it apart and polishing the trigger and hammer(just the chatter marks on the sides from milling, not hammer/sear mate surface) I got the single action to a crisp 2.5 lbs and the double action to a "smoother than colt"10.5 lbs. picked out the nicest grips too and they are seller after some 400 grip and walnut stain, it's a clone of a colt D frame so if u can work on a colt this is cake, from my understanding armscor Baught a colt facility in the Philippines and these are made on old colt machines/tooling/dies but after a few hrs of work I got one hell of a truck gun, and I know a rock island won't grenade in my hand like a taurus WILL
I found the hammer spur to be wayyyyy to long for my big ass hands so I bobbed off about 5/32nds, smoothed it up and a touch of cold blue and bam, looks cleaner than factory, I recommend this mod for sure, also not many know but armscor says +p is ok in this gun but they don't recommend a strict diet of them, I'm keeping remington 125 gr sjhp +p in it and I'm comfy, the +p's to stay away from are the 110's and 125's, I have a feeling it's not so much a pressure issue but a flame cutting the forcing cone issue, but that's just my thoughts, take care
I love all the revolver action here. I agree with *****. Looks like a great gun for the price and you don't have to worry about giving it a little hell. I still haven't shot my Smith. I'm too afraid to let it leave home haha.
thanks uzi, yeah the price is very good on it i can see in near future it will rise, the gun feels like a 300 to 400 value. your gonna shoot that smith and see that nothing compares to it.
BATJAC J.W I'm afraid of that man. The closest Cabelas to me is 2 hours away, but they have all kinds of old smiths. I'm eyeing a Model 64 (I think that's the right model). The stainless variant of the Model 10.
great video. armscor m206 revolver brings back memories...back in the bad old uniform days, i carried a snubbie in an ankle holster (which i'd be really, really lucky to reach these days, bad back and all). the m206 reminds me of the smolts (a smith frame with a colt barrel, or the other way around). if the gun nazis in commiefornia will allow me to have one, i'll pick up the m206...maybe even try to get my mitts around an m200 (the 4 inch version from armscor). carry on!!
You can still pick it up b/c it’s still on the CA DOJ pistol roster…for now. It runs for $249 at Turner’s at regular price. It does drop occasionally to $199 (a couple of times on sale since Xmas at Turner’s)
I've eyeballed this in my local shop many a time. I love the looks of this with the exception of one feature; there's too much space between the frame and the cylinder on top
The external hammer guns were actually safe to carry fully hot. There is a mechanism (that SnW still uses) to keep the firing pin from going through the channel unless fully cocked. The external firing pin myth comes from old single action revolvers where they are NOT safe to carry that way.
Thanks for the great review. I just bought the 206 and love it. Mine came with the armscor black combat grips and it makes every bit of difference. Nice vids man. ** clicks subscribe**
president excellent pistol fantastic great alot of fun shooting there great excited everyshoot perfict fantastic 38 caliber special perfict fantastic great alot of fun shooting there great excited everyshoot perfict have nice day "^^^^
Was looking for some cheepo to keep in the truck so i dont have to keep my smith out there. Ive been looking at the eaa as well. For 50 bucks more, the eaa looks a lot better finish.
BATJAC J.W oh i know, i use it as my everyday ccw pistol, i was carrying my hi point c9 everyday, its quite an upgrade, dont get me wrong, i love my hi point, its a great pistol, but its heavy and doesnt do well with hollow point ammo...
You check cylinder play with the trigger held to the rear, as in the state the gun would be fired in. Just wobbling the cylinder with the gun at rest tells you nothing about lockup.
Ok, I didn't know this thing existed. I have been scrounging high and low for a 6 round snubbie, but unwilling to pay the high price for an old Detective special. This is very intriguing.
lkjh00on89 it's not a bad snubbie for the price. I know what you mean about the high prices i over paid for my s&w model 36 some time back i feel like i was ripped off by the dealer.
I been researching about this M206 snubby and I read it was made with 4140 steel ( some sites claims).Well If that's so here's my question. Can you oil quench this gun to make it harder and be ok without losing any tolerance?
Hello, I was dying for you to try the Colt hand grips on the M206 when you had them broken down. Will they fit? If yes, there are a lot of very nice aftermarket grips available that could dress up the looks of the M206 very nicely. Great channel by the way, I really enjoy your videos.
Hi. Just liked & subed. Question: Would you recommend changing out the hammer spring to loosen & smooth out the Double Action Pull? Thanks. Sincerely, JAMES.
If you own a firearm you should shoot it the detective special is worth under a grand I would enjoy it.Such a waste in my opinion i shoot mine a couple times a year just to keep the dust off of it and to ensure it remains functional.I even shoot a 98 percent 1908 pocket model i have with stag grips I ts not like were talking museum pieces over here but to each his own
I really want to buy this gun but I'm trying to find out if it's California compliant or if Armscor makes a CA compliant version. According to the DOJ's compliance list, it has to have a 2 1/8" barrel and most online retailers indicate that it's a 2" barrel except for one dealer. Have you ever measured the barrel?
Great review, thanks. What do you think about the M200, 4 inch model? I know you're a snubby guy, but sometimes its nice to carry a slightly heavier piece for camp and trail. I prefer longer barrels, even though they're less concealing. I'm subbing! Jb.
+Jb Bennett thank you for the sub!!! From what i have gathered it's the same as the snubby just with the longer barrel. As for me yeah the 4 inch is a nice all around size to have.
i looked at one of these last week at a gun shop it was $249 and felt like a piece of crap, heavy, rough finish, crude and loose. did not like at all. just my opinion. get the new taurus pt11 g2 for $249 plus a $50 rebate

+John Banks i like it and i bought it because it looks old school lol thanks for supporting.
Got mine from Woodbury Outfitters for $179 delivered. It also came with rubber grips. shoots great and I have put +P's through it in very limited quantities. Keep it loaded with +P for the "just in case" moment.
+Mike Generallo nice it is a pretty good gun.
How does it handle the +P ammo? I’ve had mine for 5 years. I want to run about 3 cylinders of *P through it.

I have used your videos to clean and take the plate off and grease it up and I have had only positive results with it. Thankyou again.
Thank you .
I love mine! Very light & easy engage.
I also own this gun. Great fun to shoot and to just look at. I agree single action is incredibly light and consistent.
thanks for the input im looking forward to shooting it.

Oooo Oooo thank you for your supportive and kind comments i'm glad to have good people like you on board
Very nice bro ,congrats on the new gun
Looks sweet, what a deal.
for sure bro the price and what your getting is way too good to be true but it is.
I wish you could have played more ads during your video.
It definitely needs more ads and cowbell
😂😂😂
You ROCKED this review.
Thanks for sharing. I just bought one last night. That was awesome when showed the Colt and Smith that this one was modeled after. Very cool.
I love mine. Zero complaints.
picked mine up sat. and i love it
That's a great review and comparison of the colt and smith and Your RIA! Will it take +P ammo? Thanks for sharing!
no its not rated for +P
thanks for supporting the channel Ed USAF
These guns will be okay for limited use with plus p ammo. But non plus p ammo is recommended for range use.
Looks a lot better than when I bought one in 2009. Improved fit and finish by a lot from what it used to look like.
CalculusVariations99 thanks for sharing your input good to know.
thanks for watching

+Possum Living Yeah after taking it apart and what not your right it's not much a copy of a colt or s&w.
thanks for watching.
I just got mine today. Thanks for taking the time for all the details. :)
+1Nature Lady Your welcome it was something i made a point to do being i could not find a detailed video on it before i bought one.

That actually looks like a well made revolver.
I love all the revolver action here. I agree with *****. Looks like a great gun for the price and you don't have to worry about giving it a little hell. I still haven't shot my Smith. I'm too afraid to let it leave home haha.

yeah the 64 is the stainless variant. ill do another revolver tip video for you on how to check for wear and damages if you like.
Yeah bro that'd be sweet. I generally know what to look for on revolvers, but knowing more about Smiths in particular would be helpful.
ok bro ill see if i can help you out on it.
I saw this gun in the low 200 bucks. It felt great in my hands. Great vid!
thanks brother
great video. armscor m206 revolver brings back memories...back in the bad old uniform days, i carried a snubbie in an ankle holster (which i'd be really, really lucky to reach these days, bad back and all). the m206 reminds me of the smolts (a smith frame with a colt barrel, or the other way around). if the gun nazis in commiefornia will allow me to have one, i'll pick up the m206...maybe even try to get my mitts around an m200 (the 4 inch version from armscor).
carry on!!
John Hattabaugh thanks for sharing a bit of your story. the old smith model 10 i have use to belong to a police officer in Arizona.
you're entirely welcome.
You can still pick it up b/c it’s still on the CA DOJ pistol roster…for now. It runs for $249 at Turner’s at regular price. It does drop occasionally to $199 (a couple of times on sale since Xmas at Turner’s)
From what I know about revolvers, that slight bit of play on the cylinder is ok.
I've eyeballed this in my local shop many a time. I love the looks of this with the exception of one feature; there's too much space between the frame and the cylinder on top
+Gabriel Martinez It's nice but a smith is better.

+Moto Rad RIGHT ON!
Its called a transfer bar
Dunhams in Indiana has these on sale for $249 :)
The wood grips on my Centennial broke twice but over 20 years
Thanks for the work. Good insight and help.
Spartacus Antipas your welcome

I love it , good review thankyou very much, you are awesome.
i just got one of these, i paid $295, but mine came with the wood grip and a polymer grip, which is why it was more expensive
+Jonathan H still a good buy
BATJAC J.W
oh i know, i use it as my everyday ccw pistol, i was carrying my hi point c9 everyday, its quite an upgrade, dont get me wrong, i love my hi point, its a great pistol, but its heavy and doesnt do well with hollow point ammo...
nothing wrong with that.
that is itty bitty for K-frame.. the Smith and Wesson. nice review
You check cylinder play with the trigger held to the rear, as in the state the gun would be fired in. Just wobbling the cylinder with the gun at rest tells you nothing about lockup.
+D5quared91 Both are true.
Love it I'd like of 2 of these

no it's not rated for plus P
if anyone is looking for a iwb holster this revolver fits the detective spl iwb from Winthrop holsters.. great holster
+TheKingGummyBear thanks for sharing the info
Love that S&W model 36!
msm98908 thanks it is a nice revolver
exactly 240 something? how exact are we talking?
+Tray Muse 244
+BATJAC J.W ok I've been looking at the m200 a little cheaper.
nice
Correction, not Woodbury, but Centerfire Arms.
I have a 1910 Colt I shoot often. I don't ewn a gun I don't shoot, or a muscle car I don't drive.
I been researching about this M206 snubby and I read it was made with 4140 steel ( some sites claims).Well If that's so here's my question. Can you oil quench this gun to make it harder and be ok without losing any tolerance?
Can't find them anywhere now.
I had to buy one used
Pidgins, or Tribbles making the noise in the Background?
Hello,
I was dying for you to try the Colt hand grips on the M206 when you had them broken down. Will they fit? If yes, there are a lot of very nice aftermarket grips available that could dress up the looks of the M206 very nicely.
Great channel by the way, I really enjoy your videos.
+AmericasPistoleerAcademy Instructor One Thank you, lol ill do a video on that.
That's great, thanks.
Hi. Just liked & subed. Question: Would you recommend changing out the hammer spring to loosen & smooth out the Double Action Pull? Thanks. Sincerely, JAMES.
This is mostly a range gun for me so I won't do it to mine.
Thanks for watching.
Very much like a LATE Colt Commando Reissue.
aiui Armscor was (is?) a licensed producer of Colt pistols for the Philippine military.
zeprin not sure. But it does have a lot of features from the colt snubs
+BATJAC J.W ooops...not a Commando! It's a Colt AGENT.
Again a Liscensed copy for the RP Govt. Mil & LEO.
it does look like the Agent now that you said it.
Very good job
It can be used as a C&C? And does it have a safety for the trigger?
The first time I shot mine I had three separate light primer strike failures, is that a common problem for these?
Which one was used in the original Hawaii 5 O?
+tora737 not sure
What's the scary background noise?
👉🤪👍 That noise is killing me.💯
If you own a firearm you should shoot it the detective special is worth under a grand I would enjoy it.Such a waste in my opinion i shoot mine a couple times a year just to keep the dust off of it and to ensure it remains functional.I even shoot a 98 percent 1908 pocket model i have with stag grips I ts not like were talking museum pieces over here but to each his own
Ross Salupo no i agree i may take it out one day and shoot it its not like it never been shot.
thanks for watching
I really want to buy this gun but I'm trying to find out if it's California compliant or if Armscor makes a CA compliant version. According to the DOJ's compliance list, it has to have a 2 1/8" barrel and most online retailers indicate that it's a 2" barrel except for one dealer. Have you ever measured the barrel?
+Erik Menendez it does come it 2 1/8 if taken from forcing cone i believe.
Sweet. Thanks!
no prob
Great review, thanks. What do you think about the M200, 4 inch model? I know you're a snubby guy, but sometimes its nice to carry a slightly heavier piece for camp and trail. I prefer longer barrels, even though they're less concealing. I'm subbing! Jb.
+Jb Bennett thank you for the sub!!!
From what i have gathered it's the same as the snubby just with the longer barrel. As for me yeah the 4 inch is a nice all around size to have.
+Jb Bennett the 4 inch is one awesome gun for the price.
Thanks!!! Jb.
I have one of these
+Greg Halupa Me too. I just got mine today.
What's up with all the doves in the background?
I want that in a .22!
Very good thankyou
Thanks for watching.
I'd wish it was a 357. Would it've killed them to make it a 357 so it could use both
+Javier Hernandez that would be nice.
I hear pigeons lmao still a bad ass gun
+James grant lol thank you
👍
the revolvers now are like 278 or something wish i could get it a tad cheaper
+Joshua Pritt Yeah i hear ya because i think you can get a smith for under 4.
+Joshua Pritt Keep an eye out on gunbroker. I won an auction for $172. $212 shipped.
It's clone of the post 66 colt detective special
Do tyler t grips fit on it
whats some good 70's cop detective movies? whats your fav or top 5?
+Nick Hall lol i like this comment
Dirty Harry, the french connection, seven up's, magnum force, french connection 2.
thanks for watching
+BATJAC J.W How about China Town and L A Confidential? Not strictly 70s of course.
i do like china town not too much gun play but good, L A confidential is cool too they carry a colt detective special.
Have to include Serpico and McQ.
that's for sure
would you say this revolver is better than a Rossi or a Taurus?
moofushu no i'd have to say Rossi's or the Taurus is better.
like I said, just my opinion. there's something for everyone.
+stripervince1 yep, take care.
I have the same one
Looks cheap ? How s it holding up
i looked at one of these last week at a gun shop it was $249 and felt like a piece of crap, heavy, rough finish, crude and loose. did not like at all. just my opinion. get the new taurus pt11 g2 for $249 plus a $50 rebate
+stripervince1 it's a budget range gun for me. thanks for watching
Are the grips compatible with the colt detective?
Not the ones i have tried.
How is your 206 performing so far? Any complaints? I'm thinking of picking one up.
It's a good budget gun, by no means a smith. I would not pay more than 250 myself for one.
will j frame laser grip fit?
No. These are Colt D frame guns. Colt grips will fit I've been told, but might not be a perfect fit.
can the armscorp m206 handle +p ammo?
+Steve Leong i have heard yes but it is not stamped on the gun like most that are do. so i cant say yes myself being taught to read the gun it's self.
@@BATJACJW It's more Yes it can Take +P but only once in a while.
You should have compared it to a 3rd generation Colt Detective special
Good video but u need to kill clean cook and water those doves in the background
Clyde Neal lol thanks for watching
Why don't you get down to the range? You know you want to.
Bud's screwed you
how does this compare to the taurus model 85 for a carry pistol?
+O4 HEMI For me i like the Taurus 85 better. This one is ok as a budget range gun for me.
ruclips.net/video/qb616CSBek4/видео.html
+BATJAC J.W thanks
they started shipping with the m200 grip too. cuz those wood ones.... SUUUUCK
not bad especially for the price, a little man gun.
+yocams alo thanks
"UM, YA. UM, YA."
Um
i love guns but hey this thing is ugggggly lol
