You know what korg...Korg user here....Yes I get it..New styles, sound engine etc...Can you just make a very very light compact arranger that has that sound board? An arranger keyboard that is light like the kross 2 that has features like that....I assure you korg, that will be the best selling korg ever made! I'm a musician. Please listen to us.

If you want light and portable... Grab any midi keyboard and a laptop with a DAW. It'll be worlds more powerful too.

    • @tjpaeldon1
      @tjpaeldon1 2 года назад +1

Yeah I know..But like the Akai MPC 61..It’s a game changer..That’s a good start of keyboard innovation..You don’t need any laptop or DAW..If it was lighter and an arranger keyboard, I don’t care if it’s 1,800 or 2k usd, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat.

Problem with light keyboards/arrangers is that the build quality isn't that good. Need I remind you of the Krome? A lot of people complained about the build quality and cheap feeling keybed on the Krome. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The Pa5x is after all a workstation, and Korg obviously learned their lessons from past keyboards/workstations.

C'est le premier clavier arrangeur haut de gamme (que j'ai vu) qui possède à la fois un touché lourd, un châssis en alu, 88 touches, des sorties symétriques, etc. dans un seul instrument. Quel coup de maître de la part de Korg!

It will take at least 1 1/2 years before the PA5X's OS will become mature enough to be stripped of features to make a successor to the Pa 700 and 1000. This has always been the practice Korg follows. But with this new OS that Korg has developed, it will defintely put stress on Yamaha.

🔻 Estimated converting time from .SET to .KST: 2 hours (500Mb set)
🔻 Loading same set on keyboard: 20-25 min
🔻 Pads of screen should not act as a play button. When clicking on a pad on the screen, it should open the menu for you to select another pad like on every previous model.
🔻 Fill-in button after half of measure with your style on will play only your drums from the fill-in while the variation drums and accompaniments play altogether.
🔻 Home Screen needs mixer at all times. For live performers, we need levels of our drums, bass, accompaniments, lower and uppers on the screen the whole time. We don’t have the time to look and switch pages for this.
🔻 If your style is on and you turn on a pad, if the pad is more than two measures long, it will only start on the second measure. Regardless of when you click the pad.
🔻 When selecting a different pad, after clicking 4 buttons and pages to get there, it takes you to factory pads and not where the original pad is on your user. When you do select another pad, the volume automatically goes to 100 and the FX send automatically goes to 40.
🔻 Selecting a style is not fast enough. After you click on a new style while playing, it will blink a few times before it selects it. Most of the time, this is way over a measure and a half of the current style playing. This is not ideal for live performers.
🔻 There is no way for you to select the second style and have it in sync with the first one even with tempo lock on. It’s humanly impossible. Your tempo will match but you cannot physically hit the second style perfectly on beat with your first one.
🔻 If your pads are on while your style is playing, as soon as you select a new style, your pads turn off instantly. Way before the new style even comes on.
🔻 Intro 1 is not supposed to play your lowers when selected. Your lowers should work for intro 2 but not for intro 1. There’s a reason for that. Some people's intro 1 plays a melody or plays different chords.
🔻 We should have a preference of not having the lists of styles, sounds and pads be in alphabetical order. People had these organized on the 4x into separate folders and pages.
🔻 If you are used to having a certain sound or drum kit you like on (user 1, page 3), you know it’s there 100% and you learn it that way. Not anymore, because everything is in alphabetical order, things will move every time you add a new sound, pad, style, song, drumkit, etc. complete disaster if you know where your things are.
🔻 Acc. 3 freezes on the first chord you hit instead of chords you are playing. Same goes with some bass on styles. I’m playing a different chord progression, acc. 3 is stuck on the first chord without changing.
🔻 Some styles I made have drums or percussion that is detuned using my pitch bender. It will not play the correct detune until the second measure of the style.
🔻 If you are using quarter scale, this is not the keyboard for you. It will switch on and off at random. It’s almost like every few seconds it will play your quarter tone and then go back to equal scale. Non-stop.
🔻 When making a new style, the menus for quantize, delete, velocity, cut and others are missing.
🔻 The bass should not be the first in order. Every keyboard since day 1 has it as follows….drums-percs-bass-acc1-acc2-acc3-acc4-acc5.
🔻 We need an option to customize your own keyboard. There are photos for every sound and drumkit next to it. You cannot select the photo you want when saving a new sound or style.
🔻 Website says we have 4GB and 8GB compressed but the keyboard shows we have 2.5GB. Not even close to what Korg is advertising on their website. If you think you're going to have 4GB of space when buying this keyboard, you’re going to be extremely upset to find out you have only 2.5GB of space.
🔻 There should be an option on the main Home Screen from the drop menu to show only one style instead of two. Not everyone will be using two styles since they can’t even sync them perfectly anyways. It would be nice if you hold shift and play on the style for it to sync with tempo and for it to start perfectly with the current style playing.
🔻 When playing a pad that is a loop, a slice from the loops starts when you press the button. It doesn’t start where the loop should resume naturally.
🔻 If you start with a pad that is a loop (without the style being on) and then turn on the style after, the pad will be off from the style by milliseconds. Your ear will catch it and you know it’s not perfectly on.
🔻 When you hit your fill button, the variation will not go to the first measure, regardless if you have it set to start on the first measure.
🔻 If you have a pad that is an accompaniment or guitar, it turns off when you turn off the memory for your chords.
    🔻 There is no Kaoss.
🔻 There is no option for midi to style converter.
🔻 Locked sets will not work nor convert.
🔻 If you have a folder with only styles, you will not be able to open it and view any of them. It must be a set folder for it to convert to the the KST format.
    🔻 No support for EC-5.
🔻 For existing style, cv length cannot be changed.
🔻 There are factory styles that are still on here from the pa80. The house, dance, techno are not from this century. They are indeed what they say they are but not anywhere near the year 2022. So when you select dance, it is dance, just not this year. More like 1998 dance.
🔻 The screen, when all the way down, is not flush with the rest of the keyboard. It is slightly off and sits a little higher.
🔻 On the 4x, we were given a limit of approx. 15000 samples for 1.5GB of space. You are now given approx. 30000 for 2.5GB of space. Even though Korg advertises it as it giving you 4GB.
🔻 Korg needs to stop changing the format of extensions for styles, sets, sounds, etc. The person buying the pa5x is 99.9% coming from a 4x. And that person also came from a 3x and so on. It was already annoying enough that you couldn’t load 3x sets on the 4x without loading the folders separately. Now it’s just a jumble mess for people trying to switch over to a keyboard they thought they were familiar with.
🔻 Let’s be honest, wood sidings with a metal body do not go. Ever. With anything.
🔻 If you are from the Balkans or the middle eastern region and have a locked USB set, it will not work on here...
And much more surprises for you.
    Sincerelly Korg.

Very cool. This looks like a hybrid of the PA3X/4X and also the Yamaha Genos and Roland Fantom keyboards, combined with the SST technology of the Kronos/Kronos 2/Nautilus. Now I hope that Korg bring out a new successor to the Kronos. Yes I know that people are going to say 'oh but that's the Nautilus', but I strongly believe that that is only a placeholder while Korg bring out a new workstation, although in my opinion they shouldn't have discontinued the Kronos before releasing the new workstation, but I digress.

    • @ErraticFaith
      @ErraticFaith 2 года назад

It's hard to tell whether you talk like a tired old man, or a robot. Perhaps both. Kronos was dated, Nautilus is effectively a refresh. Affordability vs availability and competition will come into play. Especially in the post-covid era of VST/Controller abundance that offers potentially better future proofing, less weight and better versatility. Yes Fantom sells but certainly not at the rate of more modern and mobile stage equipment. With the premium price of Nautilus what it is, I assume it's risen in the west. Not a clue. Set aside what a more capable unit would cost. I'd question why anyone would currently invest. That's just me. If this sells, fair enough. But there is a great risk of model redundancy and cannibalization.

    • @jordanking7711
      @jordanking7711 2 года назад

@@ErraticFaith So then why did Luciano say in a previous livestream that the Kronos wasn’t going anywhere? Don’t know about you but Korg CLEARLY lied about that one. And by the way, that livestream was only a few months ago. And no I'm not exclusively putting the blame on Luciano for that one because he was most likely TOLD to say that from higher up's.

I really like the design and over all improvements with the bunch of new features, it is now very much close to the proper workstation. I have sold many Korg arranger keyboard and helping my customer for the functionality, I am sure this will sell more than a very much successful Pa4x but for that Local data is super important and it’s a key selling point, Anyway! If you are confused as to which type of keyboard suits your needs then Korg also have a video going over the differences
between an arranger keyboard and workstation even though it's a fairly old video. But unless you need auto accompaniments
and other features typical of an arranger then an arranger keyboard is not worth buying unless you know you need those type
of functions. In short arranger keyboards are a niche market for one man band keyboardists and songwriters rather than sequencing
    100% original music.

Updated List of New Bugs Found on PA5X 🪳
▫️ For musicians that use lower such as strings, almost 100% of us do, you cannot turn of the pitch bender for the lower. It will bend with your sound on uppers. This function does not work.
▫️ Songbook entry will not start on intro if your intro is selected to begin with. It will play the selected variation for a measure THEN go to intro as you saved it. Also you cannot select the songbook entry to the other player. Meaning if you’re on player 1, you may not select your songbook entry for player 2 and have it ready.

🔻 Website says we have 4GB and 8GB compressed but the keyboard shows we have 2.5GB. Not even close to what Korg is advertising on their website. If you think your going to have 4GB of space when buying this keyboard, you’re going to be extremely upset to find out you have only 2.5GB of space.
🔻 If you are from the balkans or middle eastern region and have a locked usb set, it will not work on here.

Thanks for all that information. I won’t be buying this unit then. I’m new to arrangers but I figure I should be getting all the great aspects of the top of the line synth with a decent set of backing tracks. Sounds like Korg and to some extent Yamaha have dumped PC’s into keyboards and made an interface. I’m torn between a Montage M8x or dropping the cost to a Yamaha MODx8 and adding a 2K MacBook Air with Logic or GarageBand as a built in arranger and recording function. I have a too old 2015 MacBook Pro with my own upgraded 2TB SSD and have used Logics Keyboards inside but I’m the old guy that likes hands on dedicated equipment that does what I want. I’d rather buy 2 pieces of equipment that will serve me longer in my hobby than 1 expensive unit that leaves me regretting my choice.

Korg should work with SWAM instruments and implement all of their instruments on board. Then this would be the perfect keyboard.

It's not possible since SWAM is a software installed on your laptop and controlled by your MIDI keyboard. The only way to do this is to just play SWAM instruments via your MIDI keyboard on top of the pa5x.

FINALLY...an 88key arranger!! This video is only for the performer who wants a one person band on stage.....what about the creative artist? What about the composer/performer? What synth engine do we have to sound design on? The display for the sound design should have all this on one screen without switching menus: Both ADSR's for filter and amp / Filter and resonance / LFO / oscillators. What about the style creator, do we have unlimited control now, did you remove all the stupid photos from the screen so style creation becomes a single screen recording for one track? Did you remove all the stupid photos from all the screens? Photos take up valuable space on the screen, this is a top of the line arranger, it should be made for professionals and not have "cutezy" photos all over it. We don't need a piano photo when I have a correctly labeled instrument selected; If I label an instrument SteinwayD9foot....I don't need a photo of a piano! If you notice much anger in this comment it is because for the cost of these top-of-the-line arrangers we actually want a pro instrument. The 88key version should have the best acoustic piano ever sampled...AND....complete control over the tone of the piano so we can edit our OWN idea of what a piano should sound like...AND....to compensate for monitors or headphones that don't match what Korg used in the recording studio when sampling; this is just common sense. 32 band stereo equalizer is a minimum requirement, low pass filter, control of sympathetic resonance/pedal and keys, half pedaling, and a piano sample with a natural LONG decay found on the best pianos in the world. Piano effects for binaural seated player, concert hall listener, lid position, mic positions, hall size; the piano should be second to none in the industry. .....and so much more.... Korg is this the arranger I am looking for, or is this just another toy for unlimited income geeks.

You can really play fast without losing the sensitively on that Nautilus key bed. Amazing. Question, will the 61 & 76 Pa5X have the same key bed feel as the Nautilus 61 & 76?

No, they are Fatar based actions, not Korg's in-house developed. You will have to try them out to see how good they feel. My experience with Korg's lower end arranger keybeds have been decent at best, but their high-end will obviously be better.

I've been around this stuff for more than 35 years.
Back in the late 80s and 90s, everything was being pushed towards virtual instruments.
VSTs and Plugins. Hardware synth prices were astronomical. Much like how they are now.
Saw an ad on reverb for a vintage synth. 35, 000 dollars. I think I embarrased the guy a little bit, because it was 40-thousand. After I sent him an email he dropped it to 35K. And believe it or not, someone purchased it.
Computers got faster and hard drive speed and capacities......ridiculous riches. And they're getting less expensive.
You can get a computer that can run almost all of the major DAWs and plug-ins for under 700 dollars.
Hell I'm running windows 10 Pro machine with an 8-core i7 processor, two 1TB SSD drives and the whole thing cost me less that 500. Got the computer used on Amazon.
Paired it up with a *WHITE* Novation Impulse my daughter got me for my birthday for 49.00 on Guitar Center.
The reason they charged so little was because one of the keys had been replaced. I had an old 61-key that wasn't working anymore. swapped out the newer whiter keys, the pitch/mod wheels, cleaned it up and it workes perfectly.
I've got nothing against these companies making hardware synths again.
Workstations and hardware synths are making a comeback big time. They're also brining back with them those ridiculous price tags.
    I have three computers *(1200),* 4 keyboard controllers *(550),* Microfreak *(350),* Presonus ATOM *(150),* Maschine MK2 *(100),* Novation Circuit *(270),* two interfaces *(350)*
Running Cakewalk (free) and a bunch of free VSTs
    Paid Software *(1700)*
Add all that up together and it still comes out cheaper than the 61-key version of this thing.
    Nope.

@@Denvermorgan2000 I get it. Nothing wrong with that at all. As to the synth lasting a long time, the only way to know that is when it actually last a long time.
I recently purchased a LaunchKey 61 MK3 in December of 2021. By may 2022 one of the keys was broken where it snapped from the rail inside that holds the keys in these groups of 5 together.
Granted a LaunchKey 61 MK3 isn't this synth. Not even close. But wasn't expecting it to do that in 5 months.
they wanted me to send it back to them....in the UK for them to fix or replace. Told them just send me the replacement keys, I'll fix it myself. They told me, that may void your warranty. Really? it breaks in 5 months and they're telling me about warranty.....lol.
Even offered to pay for the replacement keys. They sent them, I replace them and it works as intended. I got two sets of keys to have a back up just in case. So while the plan and expectation is that it will last, anything is possible.

I completely second you on this. I wrote a comment in another video similar to yours. With the price of the 88 keys, I can buy bundles of expensive OT/Spitfire/NI/ProjectSam sample libraries, bundles of PA mixing/mastering plugins, a new pair of ADAM studio monitors, new midi keys and a good surplus still remains lol. These companies are really joking the public because the public accept these prices and still buying them. So, I really blame the consumers more than these companies.

@@johnsuggs3952 Kronos apparently had a bunch of keybed issues. I pretty much owned every Korg from the M1 to the Triton. I had the PA1X Pro, and it was a decent board. Ended up moving to a Tyros 4, which I still have. I don't play professionally anymore, but for me, being a one man band, it was nice to just carry one Keyboard and just turn it on instead of a controller, laptop, USB soundcard, and have to load all the VST's and everything I planned on using. I think Korg is helping to get the business of people like me, who don't want to deal with the 1364302593246237246243645765484563246237552547 different VST's and DAW complexity.
With that said, I have Reason 12 with a bunch of VST's myself, which are great for home/studio use. If you're just a producer, you can get away with that setup. If you gig live, you will definitely want to go the Workstation/Arranger route.

    3. Can you adjust the volume of each individual voice that are layered together by using the physical sliders?
    4. Can your arranger not only record the sounds, effects and style of the keyboard but also include recording the additional plug in voice and guitar sounds as well and save the whole song or performance as a complete wav or mp3?

  • @ablesam
    @ablesam Год назад +3

Mishap on Korg's part with the execution on the release and beta-testing. The PA5X was supposed to be released just before 2023 started (Late November or Early December). Generally, keyboards with a new platform take at least 3 years to properly develop to an even basic model. Considering that, this keyboard is premature as Korg had started development in mid-late 2020. When Korg decided to stop production of the 4X, they quickly ran out of stock and were forced to put a new product on the market to compete with the Genos. But they should have waited until the end of 2022 to put out a proper functioning board with the majority of bugs resolved. Now the customers will suffer for it as this arranger keyboard was supposed to be a 2023 product and not 2022.
And to add to all this injury, the new management team basically forced this keyboard out into the market, therefore, the developers and team at Korg Italy are now suffering and trying to work hard to make sure this product is stable within the market. Warning to all those reading this, buy a PA5X only after halfway through next year, as majority of what users have been complaining about will only appear then. Till then, keep your current keyboard if you plan on upgrading. Also wait till the stock situation becomes stable, as many retailers (even big ones) have not received their shipments yet.
The PA5X is a great arranger keyboard ruined only by business greed, bad ethics and poor management decisions. It's fate is now left in the hands of the developers who are the only ones who can redeem its value and usefulness. All the best to them.

I'm guessing that there's no synthesizers or sampling capability on this keyboard am I correct?

Can I route different style parts audio to those 6 audio outputs? That would be great for external mixing and effects.

what any true studio professional will tell you is missing in the PA5x - is the ability to send individual tracks to a DAW so the entire mix can be rendered, while providing the platform for sound editing that far exceeds the mixing power of the Professional Arranger - you can send via group, but that is not the same as pulling out a snare and refining its parameters while maintaining the dynamics of the remaining mix - without going through an exhaustive process within the PA system - sure, you can do that right on the PA - but when you mix and master tracks for publishing, you want the ability to go deep into individual tracks. I would say Korg is "that close" to having the perfect Professional Arranger.
