Noam Chomsky dislikes being pedestaled I imagine, despite the fierce veracity of what he speaks, about the 19th century through 21st century United States enslavement of workers, the embargoes US have been imposing on the gulf and those of the countries whose people are undergoing immense economic hardship. Chomsky also has the passion to be challenged and questioned whilst he strongly urges against different forms of capitalism that have proven as nefarious as amounting to disempowerment of labourers and their unionisation. Noam has a plenty more intellectual honesty and kindness to offer to the spheres of humanitarian education, as he is forthright in his appeals for the underdogs and underprivileged. May his students follow in his footsteps and continue to question the authorities of neoliberalism, their imperialistic structures.

Let me know when you’re ready to come back to reality-OK? 😀
Why do you present this(with no date for this interview) as if it was just done recently? This is almost 4 years old. The most important part of anything that is downloaded onto the internet(other than the actual content) is the date of the event, interview, report, etc. Why would you, as someone who cares enough to download something they must believe will be informative and of value, not see the value in identifying when this interview took place? This simple standard of properly dating something really should be understood by everyone by now so it's quite maddening to see that it is not. Even in journalistic circles.
Thanks David for your comment. Why we didn’t specify that this interview wasn’t done recently? Honestly, one of the reasons was that we didn’t think that this was really important. Every video on RUclips is old in the moment when it is published, it doesn’t mean that it is loosing it’s importance or it’s value. The aim of our non-profit project is a discussion about fundamental questions (e.g.: Why does economics matters?), not about daily newsfeeds. Another one is that we simply forgot. Anyways, in the description the date of recording was added. By the way: time is relative, yes, but not too much: the interview with Prof. Chomsky was recorded in December 2020, that means from today 2 years and 3 months ago. Not almost 4. Anyways, thanks again for your contribution.
Don’t worry he’s already been living off the people for a long time and has done financially well with all his speaking fees. He’s one of the great capitalist entrepreneurs of our time. He’s a genius by criticizing the system that made him extremely wealthy. He reminds me of those preachers on tv preaching about helping the poor while taking the poor people’s money.
The answer is 'nothing'. Noam Chomsky is of the class of people who have seated in a chair their whole life and never had to do the work needed to make society actually function. That's why it's so easy for them to make scenarios and demonize everyone else, they have no idea of what it takes to build, lead, and profit.
I don't always agree with NC on all issues. But here he once again shows himself to be a guiding light on matters related to economic organization and economic and social justice. Unfortunately, he's still indispensable.

Noam identifies as a Libertarian socialist, however in this video he loves government when criticizing Milton Friedman. In past interviews I’ve heard him talk about the evils of our foreign policy and then in the same interview he talks about how the United States offered so much opportunity and freedoms. The man speaks with a slippery tongue. Also, I wonder if he will leave his capitalist mega wealth to the poor workers of America or to his children?
Social engineering or economic engineering is responsible for what free markets or unregulated capitalism which is more accurate corporate investor rights for large companies this is what the neoliberal period brought abought, I was lucky that I had skills as a physicist and applied mathematician and worked for defense contractors and before that as a medical chemist and laboratory pathologist would of stayed at University of SUNY but there was no more research being done on theoretical theory of the unified field theory computer models are useless in these fields.
The east of Europe was after the war on socialist system for more then 40 years and didn't work as well ,no neoliberal economy. The capitalism system is just from the middle of 90s which has been made some good improvement in the social and infrastructure life. It is not perfect, but what's the alternative? Make everything belong to the states?
Why didn't this genleman get the nobel prize?!!! He's devoted his life to justice and outright pointing and you pretend he doesn't exist. Give him a lifetime achievement award, specifically for the contribution of media grammar !! and the founder of this specification to the field !!
there should be a warning to play him at or above 1.5×speed, to avoid drowsiness. it adds a nice sense of urgency and makes him sound younger. OLO , no joke.
This is not a laughing matter, I have nothing but respect for Chomsky who is telling the world truths that they may disregard at their absolute peril. Being old and speaking slowly may not be privilege afforded to billions of people because they have not listened to someone who exudes truth and wisdom.
ya. time is short for some people to catch up on these matters. it is difficult to get a labor class to watch in a word of short videos. thanks for supporting our next president.
His superfans and Chomsky himself have never run a business nor do they know what it takes. It is so easy to sit here and talk and use all these big terms and descriptions.

Austin why don’t you see about having a debate with Mr Chomsky and make your case. Only one possible ending and that is you coming out looking like a bitch.

Love how you types can never refute what he says directly, or provide an argument. Only a vague criticism of his “rhetoric,” where once you hear the word “socialism” you can immediately discredit him and stop listening because you’ve built a mental wall around these discussions and are too closed minded to even consider what he says.
The job of economists should be to help society maximize material welfare/standard of living (maximum outputs with minimum inputs). In reality, the vast majority of them think their job is to redistribute income from the high earners/highly productive to the low earners/low productive.
That's a funny comment. Economists have been extremely unsuccessful, haven't they, if you evaluate their jobs by that metric: "redistribute income from the high earners/highly productive to the low earners/low productive."
@@clarestucki5151 It's a ludicrous notion. I'm no big fan of Keynesian economics, but the ushering in of the neoclassical period by 'economists' such as Milton Friedman has meant, empirically speaking, that they've done exactly the opposite, and to argue that they 'thought' they were doing otherwise is pure delusion.

The Socrates of our time, ostracized by the media of the profiteers, should be on every channel, every school, every forum to educate all on how to create, maintain and spread a happy, DEMOCRATIC society representing the real interests of all the people, including that of the profiteers.
LOL Yes what a better world it would be if everyone took more seriously the views of this egghead academic, with ZERO actual training or experience in any field outside Linguistics, and has NEVER held a job in the real world, and who became a multi-millionaire himself via the same Capitalist/Corporate System that he has spent his entire career bashing!
Thank you for this information. I was curious as to how old this interview was.
@@AgeofEconomics Thank you ! I frequently revisit Chomsky's interviews and talks. Learning doesn't have a time limit.
@@AgeofEconomics 2 years of coofid seemed like 4 to many. And Chomsky like the majority got it wrong
Swing and a miss.
Thumbnail of Chomsky:
"Change da World; My Final message"
Meme when?
He actually said he wants " I tried my best" on his tombstone
Milton Friedman = monster
The titles and words that comes between the topics are too small. Please make them bigger.
If everyone in the world gave 1 second off their life span to add to chomskys, hed live forever.
I RESPECT ✊🏾 CHOMSKY!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😌😌😌😌🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🔒💯🇰🇳🇵🇷🇺🇸

So WONDERFUL to see this guy looking so ancient. Soon he'll be gone and forgotten
Fingers Crossed!
It’s so hard to hear what he’s saying
Common good. World is self- entertining. We all die and he still be spinning.
What does this reader know about building and running a useful business?
“The greater good”
The answer is 'nothing'.
Noam Chomsky is of the class of people who have seated in a chair their whole life and never had to do the work needed to make society actually function.
That's why it's so easy for them to make scenarios and demonize everyone else, they have no idea of what it takes to build, lead, and profit.
@@TheControlBlue ,
Thank You! Could not have said better myself!

What's that intro music ?
J.S. Bach, from The Well-Tempered Clavier. Kimiko Ishizaka, piano.
Thanx and good interview. Hopefully one day you get richard wolff and micheal hudson
SPIVOCRACY 👎 CHOMSKY 👍 (from Green Fire, UK) 🌈🦉😉
I don't always agree with NC on all issues. But here he once again shows himself to be a guiding light on matters related to economic organization and economic and social justice. Unfortunately, he's still indispensable.
"He had the problem most intellectuals have, that of being completely ineffectual"
Explain?
He is the most quoted intellectual, and thought of as the farther of modern linguistics, tireless political activist. What have you done!
@@rosewoodsam lotta good that's done us 😛
@@WMA31780intellectuals don’t always have the desired impact they should during their life. It is decades after they pass that we truly recognise the body of work carried out during their life time.
@@WMA31780 Noam has helped with struggles in all corners of the world, his work will continue to be read and help long after he is dead. You're simply incorrect and it makes you sound like a moron! come on mate you can do better than that.
Please post the date of an interview like this in future. I was ten mins in when I realised I had heard it before, so you could waste my time for your own clicks. Annoying .
LOL Chomsky's hypocrisy appears to have no limits! 😀😀😀
Upgrade the AI.
So, this mathematician, declared "linguist and philosopher" by the Soviets and Arafats is an economist too? Sure. he is.
I remember him saying something about voting for Biden to keep us out of nuclear war. Oh, something about medical stuff.
there should be a warning to play him at or above 1.5×speed, to avoid drowsiness.
it adds a nice sense of urgency and makes him sound younger.
Let’s put a 1.5x or greater on your lifespan.
ya. time is short for some people to catch up on these matters. it is difficult to get a labor class to watch in a word of short videos.
thanks for supporting our next president.
@@robertakre7725 3.0x for you is about right.
Sure, if you're unable to figure that out on your own.
His superfans and Chomsky himself have never run a business nor do they know what it takes. It is so easy to sit here and talk and use all these big terms and descriptions.
True Noam took the easy way out becoming the foremost linguistics thinker of the second half of the 20th century while simultaneously being even more famous for political activism and writing a hundred academic books and thousands of peer reviewed articles and now being 94 doing lengthy interviews and still teaching. The guy who runs the new vape shop up the street has had to do much harder things
@@wngbjngwwgk Lol; well done.
@@wngbjngwwgk and now we see the separation and contempt

Noam fails the 1st question. Guess why we're fucked.
Your mom had other plans that night
We forgive her
Normal ar fi sa spuna Chomsky ceva aici pe RUclips. Asta este "tare." Mai "slab" este sa se cam stie cine modereaza. Altminteri e clar tocana de melci. Clar.
Utterly vacuous.
Oh btw he’s admitted he had no friends in HS!! Surprising?? Of course not !! Telling!!
You should ask him why he is so adamant about denying the genocide of non Serbs during the Yugoslav war
Yes, spread your rumors!
It must be irksome not to get all the credit you desire for orchestrating the genocide of non-Serbs during the Yugoslav war.
Man, how scared of actual work must you be to think work is akin to slavery.
You get to have a wage, stop whining and do something with your life!
Wage slavery is not the same as meaningful work. It's the most important and main part of life he said before.
@@lelz0394 ,
LOL Well Chomsky does not have to worry about supposed, ' wage slavery ', himself, because he became a multi-millionaire via the very same Capitalist/Corporate System that he loves to bash so much!
I wonder how much of Chomsky's own money he donated to all the, ' wage slaves ', at MIT, or at the publishers of his books, or at the venues where he lectures?
Strange he never talks about that... 😀
He'll yeah. I wanna work at McDonald's my whole life.
Twisting his words harder than your hips at the docks
still babbling his socialist communist rhetoric.
Love how you types can never refute what he says directly, or provide an argument. Only a vague criticism of his “rhetoric,” where once you hear the word “socialism” you can immediately discredit him and stop listening because you’ve built a mental wall around these discussions and are too closed minded to even consider what he says.
Actually calling Chomsky a, ' socialist communist ', is an unfair insult!
-To socialists & communists! 😀
The job of economists should be to help society maximize material welfare/standard of living (maximum outputs with minimum inputs). In reality, the vast majority of them think their job is to redistribute income from the high earners/highly productive to the low earners/low productive.
That's a funny comment. Economists have been extremely unsuccessful, haven't they, if you evaluate their jobs by that metric: "redistribute income from the high earners/highly productive to the low earners/low productive."
cLAre diD HeR oWn reSeaRcH!
@@MikBak1814 You'll notice, I said "they think their jobs . . ", I didn't say they had accomplished it, right?
@@clarestucki5151 It's a ludicrous notion. I'm no big fan of Keynesian economics, but the ushering in of the neoclassical period by 'economists' such as Milton Friedman has meant, empirically speaking, that they've done exactly the opposite, and to argue that they 'thought' they were doing otherwise is pure delusion.
In reality, most economists do the opposite. I'm just considering the current results.
who cares? so boring.
Mumbles Chomsky was so difficult to understand that I wanted to throw my iPad out the window. Horrible presentation, it’s annoying.
He's 94. Use the captions. That's what I do. He's perfectly lucid in the actual words but yea can't really expect high quality sound from a 94 year old
Turn up the volume-or, better yet, throw yourself out the window.
Not nearly as annoying as your comment. Use captions. Petty problem solved.

Very enlightening video, There’s this woman I got in touch with during the 2020 lockdown which cost me my job. Ms. Norman Davis helped me manage my assets by introducing my to the best trading platform and strategies, I earned a lot of $$$ working with Norman at the comfort of my home. I still keep in touch with the amazing lady
I have a master in mathematical finance, so it wasn’t so easy to get me convinced to begin an investment without me carrying out proper research on her. I had her broker ID checked and she’s fully verified! So I began with a few bucks, only to get huge returns in a month. I reinvested and now I get long term monthly returns… So glad I don’t rely on pay checks anymore.
