    Designed back when Boeing was run by engineers, not bean counters with the "that'll do" attitude that came from the McDonnell Douglas merger.

      you’ve touched on a sentiment shared by many aviation enthusiasts. The transition from an engineering-driven culture to a more cost-conscious approach is often debated in the aerospace industry. The Boeing 767 is indeed a product of a time when design innovation was at the forefront, and it continues to be a workhorse in aviation thanks to that engineering focus.

    767 is a wonderful workhorse, the airline I work for operated a fairly large fleet of these and they were just as good on 1-2 hour sectors as an 8-10 sector.
    It's a pity there's no true replacement for these.

    • @dontdeletehistory
      @dontdeletehistory  7 месяцев назад

      it’s great to hear from someone who has such direct experience with the 767. The versatility of this aircraft is well-regarded, especially for its efficiency on shorter routes. The search for a true ‘like-for-like’ replacement is a challenge faced by many airlines as they look to modernize their fleets while maintaining operational efficiency.

    I Flew on this jet from Montreal to Bucharest in 2019 with Air Canada Rouge, the most miniature wide-body aircraft compared to the Airbus A300 or A330. The plane landed and braked remarkably fast. I was pretty impressed with the pilot's skills.

    I have fuelled all 3 767 variants and I like them all. However the -400 is my favourite variant off all three. Good job on lowering the music so you can emphasize on the narration.

    I used to fly the 767-200 ER. What a fantastic aircraft. The fact that the company never installed GPS for navigation or CPDLC for communication, I had a feeling the writing was on the wall, at least at my company. It was...by early 2015 they were all gone. Kinda sad, but there's always something newer and more fuel efficient coming along. In the mean time, Boeing has sure lost its way.

    Condor recently retired their its last B767-300ER jetliner. Condor B767-300ER fleet was worldwide leader among all other BOE and AIB types with accumulated nearly 150,000 FH and 21,000 FC. As mentioned in this video BOE never bother to upgrade neither cockpit nor cabin. And same apply for B757 an another marvel aircraft. Sad story.

    If Boeing wanted to they could easily upgrade the avionics, they did so with the -400 having quasi 787 technology, replace some components with composite materials counterparts and use newer more efficient engines.
    This would kill some of the marketshare of the 787 though.
    I'm a big fan of the 767. Having a relatively cheap upgrade as a Neo model available could prove quite economical to airlines that consider the 787 too expensive or too unproven still.
    Airbus did so with the A320 line up, somewhat newer aircraft that proved its worth but they also don't have a direct successor to it, the A330Neo competes with the A350 to an extent and they still developed it.

      Your perspective on the potential for upgrading older aircraft like the Boeing 767 with new technology suggests an intriguing path for extending the service life of aging aircraft. It's an important consideration in the broader conversation about sustainability and cost-effectiveness in aviation.

    • @dontdeletehistory
      @dontdeletehistory  7 месяцев назад +1

      thank you for pointing out the omission of the KC-46. This aircraft is indeed a significant part of the 767’s legacy, serving as a multi-role tanker for the military. It’s a great reminder that the story of an aircraft can continue to evolve long after its initial introduction.

    I never heard of that wing aspect ratio criticism / discussions about the B767. Do you have any source for that ? Plus I don't see much difference in aspect ratio between a A300 and a B767 so I really don't understand this point of discussion. Now if you talk about a MD-80 serie wing ratio that is something else. They are like a glider wings for an airliner.

    • @dontdeletehistory
      @dontdeletehistory  7 месяцев назад +1

      We appreciate your technical insights. Discussions about wing aspect ratios and their impact on aircraft performance are complex and can vary greatly depending on the specific design and operational use of the aircraft. We aim to delve into these technical aspects in our documentaries and will consider highlighting such details more explicitly in future videos.

    As a passenger and in view of Boeings massive clutter bucks in the young past, the 767 and 757 are the only Boeings I put my foot in without being either super annoyed (777) or simply scared (737). I tend to book flights operated by anything but Boeings.

      @dontdeletehistory  7 месяцев назад

      Your observation about the Boeing 757's development is indeed an interesting aspect of aviation history. The 757 and the 767 were indeed developed concurrently and share a common pilot type rating due to their similar cockpit design. This was part of Boeing's strategy to provide airlines with operational flexibility and cost savings.
