Great video. My slow jet is clogged/gunked up as well. And the other one is fine but the small screw head that screws into the other jet is clogged. Ordered some carburetor jet picks...fingers crossed. But very good/detailed video. Worked perfect for getting to the carb on my 2007 CRF70F.
Disregard. It was clogged. I was able to clean all the other orifices with an "a" string (5th) .016". The orifice on the slow jet was even smaller. It took an "e" string. Carb back together and runs like new
There is a very small hole through the slow jet. 24 gauge steel wire is too thick. 20 lb picture wire is a bundle of very thin wires. If you twist off one of the thin pieces it should fit all the way through the slow jet.
Well after attempting the same thing 3 times on the same bike I went ahead and ordered a replacement carb. Lol Now I have to figure out how to get the throttle cable cap off, so I can put cable onto new carb. I’m talking about the cap that threads onto the top of carb. Any ideas?
Frank need help. Followed process to clean my CRF70 carb. All went well except had to install new petcock. Problem - bike cranks and runs wide open.. triple checked throttle cable and it appears installed good to me. Pin and sleeve are seated fully with a crisp snap back on throttle. What else could cause it to run wide open?
@@FranksGarage any way to test ? If the throttle pin is all the way down and idle pin set low how is it getting fuel to run that high? Wouldn’t an air leak cause it to run lean and die?
@@FranksGarage update: got it fixed. Trick for me was installing the throttle pin/sleeve with carb not installed looking down the intake throat. I did not realize it was so darn sensitive. Once that sleeve was in correct it’s like new!!
Your slow jet is a bit clogged up it sounds like (it can only run on choke because it has more suction on the fuel because there isn’t as much air moving though the intake)
Cleaned carb, no response from idle screw nor air/fuel mix. Runs like absolute garbage needle is set in the middle, stock jets. New filter fresh 91, good spark, runs well wen running out of gas..

I would assume a very large air leak possibly.
Make sure the seals are properly seated from carb to cylinder head.

What was the factory slow jet size?
What if my crf70 runs only with choke on?
Your slow jet is a bit clogged up it sounds like (it can only run on choke because it has more suction on the fuel because there isn’t as much air moving though the intake)
My 70 keeps leaking I have done many things to fix it but it keeps leaking
Is that a 42mm carburetor
They are very small - something like 13mm

You should have dumped the old gas and cleaned out the peacock
