Andrew, you are my favourite artist to watch. I'm thrilled when you do something I've been doing. This year has been awful for me, my health has made painting very difficult, as a result I haven't painted anything since May. I've been filling my time watching RUclips videos by you and a couple of other artists. I've been glued to your tutorials. I'm looking forward to being well enough to get back to my painting. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us x
Some people are born to paint....they are brilliant....then there's you Andrew...you are in a league of your own...thanks once again for sharing your amazing talent...
For several months I'm watching your videos. Thank you very much for sharing! 40 years ago, I had to learn many things the hard way. Professors at universities taught weird things, no way for me to agree with guys like Beuys ... May be it was what you name "the game" on your website. I was not interested in the game, so I made it as a Graphic Designer. But I never abandoned my idea of making paintings in a quality like Raphael. One day I got that book "Raphael in der Alten Pinakothek (Hubertus von Sonnenburg)". Only a few photos of the paintings edges gave me inspiration on how to progress. Many years later I found out that some russian painters keep knowledge on old techniques. Now we have the internet. And all the people who want to make beautiful art, got artists and their sharing like you do in the internet. I hope you will continue teaching and sharing like you do now. Again, thank you very much for what you're giving for the creators and admirers of beautiful art!
You are fantastic, and I just love your work. I am an absolute beginner in oil and was intimidated by the whole process, but seeing how you break it down into stages makes it possible to achieve the realistic effect I so truly desire in my future paintings.
Most excellent Andrew. I particularly like how you describe your technique, color usage, etc...most guys are trying to sell there DVD’s so hold back or tease~while you are more interested in showing the whole story~ and encourageing peeps to step up. Nice paintings also! Keep, keeping us in the loop we love your tubes!
Andrew, Its so inspiring listening to you hearing all that true passion for painting!!! You have an incredible talent and we are all lucky that you wanted to share it.... Thanks
Wonderful detail of your brushwork. I have a tendency to want to give up too soon because I become discouraged too soon. It's so exciting when the painting starts to come together. Thank you for your inspiration. Your work is absolutely beautiful.
As always, Andrew, you hit the nail on the head. Every painting I start is the ugliest thing I've ever seen and I want to throw it out the window. It DOES take patience to work it out and I appreciate those words of encouragement. What an extraordinary painting - I am a huge fan!
While I was painting and my mom required me to paint a portrait with in-depth atmosphere, my mom was so moved by your painting and she said it is resounding!
End result is amazing. This is very much the classical impressionism technique. I'm currently chewing on the idea of trying it myself. Thank you, I always enjoy your work.
So glad that I discover you in you tube!!!I wish you were in Greece to teach me all the amazing things that you are painting!!!But as you are not, thank you for all the knowledge that you are giving to us from your videos!!!
The painting is sooo dynamic I can almost see and hear that wave splashing! Absolutely astonishing! I can’t wait for the thirst stage. Keep up the good work! Love.
Thanks for the teaching. My introduction to your tutorials was with a landscape and I watched you through the blocking stages and at the second pass I thought you were finished and it was awesome... then you fine tuned it further and it was even more awesome.I have been living in Waikato NZ for 10 years and play with paint and have struggled with how green NZ is (to paint )or where the sea has such vibrant colours) and still look authentic, but your land/seascapes are great and taking your tips I think I have improved.
Mate, that's an awesome effort. I was just wandering because it looks like the painting of Mount Talbot from Ep 6 of The Great Art Adventure. Great stuff! Truly, you've done a great job! :)
I'm working with acrylics at the moment, but I'm still trying to apply your teachings to my work. Where I believe I fail us in getting the values correct, but I'm working hard to get it even though right now I don't. Thank you for your video demonstrations I'm learning a lot. Cheers!
Andrew! Fabulous coverage. I love your work, but more importantly for me, a rookie, your teaching ability is phenomenal! I get you. Thank you for that. Your explanations are understandable and to the point. I appreciate that! Thank you and please keep them coming!!
You have such amazing skill. Thank you so much for sharing your painting knowledge with us. I also appreciate your encouragement to not give up on a painting too soon, but to keep working it until satisfied.
You are such an amazing and inspirational artist Andrew !! So much to learn from your videos and a great demonstration of seascape paintings which is one of my favourite subjects. Thanks a lot for sharing these videos and keep up the good work !!
Thanks for posting great videos. I actually had a series of hand surgeries including rebuilding the ligament in my thumb to wrist, and they said I wouldnt write let alone paint. after seeing these it really made me try and tackle, and while I may not write neatly by any means I have found my love again and my hand responds somewhat. I didnt paint for a few years as to control- just saying thank you!!
I just started following you recently and I absolutely love your art and your videos. They are all incredibly helpful as well as inspiring. I started working with oils again and I've been so up tight with my strokes and this video really showed me a sample of beautifully executed strokes heavy with thick paint. You're an amazing instructor! Thank you so much for posting these videos!
Great video as usual Andrew! Thanks a lot for the clear explanations and tips. I watch your RUclips videos and the videos I've purchased from your website many times as every time I learn something new and motivates me to paint. Thumbs up and Thanks!!
Wonderful work as always man! Thanks for giving the tip about Oleo gel, since seeing you work with it in a early RUclips vid I have found it very useful in the studio.
Thank you so much for sharing this Andrew. It's a nice reminder that modeling leads to a beautiful finished product. I appreciate you providing exactly what mediums you're using and at what point and why. Your brush work looks so easy (when I try, let's just say the result isn't quite so lovely LOL), but by watching your technique, I'm sure with practice and patience, results will improve. Once again, your instruction and information is detailed yet easy to understand, thank you for that. Lovely work..You're incredibly talented.
Great to see you back Andrew, your video instructions are excellent, and wanting to break up my fine detailed works Your tutorials are a great help, Looking forward to seeing more in time
I would've like it if you had the subject next to what you were painting so I could see what you were copying. Enjoyed your indepth instructions and types of brushes, paints, solvents, etc. as usual!
You are so inspiring! The way you paint with your instinct and in a same time with a great technical comming from experience (and talent!) is bluffing and again, inspiring. I will try to use some of your advices in all of those videos to improve my landscape and seascape painting (sorry for my poor English).
Thank you for showing closely how to paint loose strokes on the base layer. Your flow is fantastic. As a base that painting looks Incredibly amazing! I think the best advice I've taken from this video is: "The worst thing we can do is to give up too early." Thank you for this video Andrew :-)
Absolutely mesmerising, as always, Andrew. I've just sat and watched you paint a Siena street scene, a New Zealand landscape and now this crashing wave, all in one session at the computer. You are a master at paint manipulation and I love the illusion of detail. A question, 'though - you change back and forth between colours and tones and I'm intrigued to know how many brushes you might use in a session. I can't imagine that you'd be constantly wiping expensive paint from your brush to add the next colour, so please, how many?
Great work. Some things said in the video seem obvious but really need to be said and remembered. I have not seen waves painted better than this (and previous) on RUclips or real life. Also, will be buying zink white as well, thanks for the tip!
Hi Andrew you mention how you leave the painting to cure for a couple of days. So do you have other works on the go at the same time and if so how many do you normally have? Cheers Rob
It's great to see your brushwork in action and hear your explanations. I'm glad you mentioned your paint-to-medium ratio of 3-1 average, but never less than 2-1. It sounds like your complete painting will consist of three layers, one for each stage (blocking, modeling, detail), and you let each stage dry before moving to the next stage. Is that correct, and do you add more medium to later layers, adhering to fat-over-lean, or is it not necessary to worry about that? Thanks Andrew!
Amazing Beautiful!! I wish I could get your technique in creating waves in the future..This subject I like to paint too! Thanks you so much for sharing your videos..I learned so much from you from the start I followed you...Godspeed!
Thank you so much for your lessons! They are absolutely great! May I ask a question please? Do you wait till the paint is dry before starting modeling stage?
Hi Andrew, I'm really really glad I subscribed to your website and I'm really really glad that I found you on RUclips. Your positvity and encouragement lift me up so much. I cant thank you enough for all the efforts that you've shown to us... You are so amazing! Your works are always an inspiration to me. Oh, Can I paint you? It would mean so much to me. :)
Hey Thanks so much Phoebe! Paint me? Ummm not sure how you would do that, but feel free if you see a screen still in one of my videos. But, surely you find something better looking to paint! LOL! :)
Andrew, you are my favourite artist to watch. I'm thrilled when you do something I've been doing. The most generous of all artists. Beautiful heart. Sharing it all. Thankyou Andrew. This painting is stunning and breath takingly beautiful.

Go for it Christina!

Truly epic video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge 🙏
"As a base, it's not bad for this sitting", (humbly said at the end). Understatement of the year, looks freaking awesome!
XD
I'm so happy I found you Andrew! You are the best teacher and I love your work.

Love your videos Andrew. You take so much time and effort. Most artist on RUclips don't do this
and another fantastical (base?) painting, erg, lesson or whatever Andrew. We viewers just love it so keep it up!
Andrew
You are a star, sir; and a very modest one: a real earthy bloke!
Many thanks for your 'labours of love' here on RUclips.
End result is amazing. This is very much the classical impressionism technique. I'm currently chewing on the idea of trying it myself. Thank you, I always enjoy your work.
Fabulous painting. I can hope that more and more painting will come anywhere near your beautiful painting!!!
Andre I am in awe of your talent I spend hours viewing your videos. you changed my ideas for oil painting as well as my vision. thanks again and again

Yeah, adhere to the fat on lean principle when working with these Langridge mediums. So a little more medium in subsequent layers. Cheers Dale!
The painting is beautiful
Andrew, to funny. This modelling process looks done for me. I can't wait to see how you take it to the next detailed level!! Break out the #1s!
A great inspirational video

Is liquin and liquin impasto, a good substitute for oleogel?
Oleogel is slow drying where Liquin is fast drying.
