    Hi I have the same board. It's not turning on and looks like a short somewhere on it. Thanks for sharing this video! I have now finally learned how desktop motherboard power distribution works, what to look for, and test with the multimeter and how to diagnose the board. Going to work on it tomorrow! :D

    HELLO DOC B! Am an avid Subscriber, you are my first 'Go to' when diagnosing PC issues! I recently built a new Computer in my old Tower with a new Raidmax Vampire 1000W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply, an MSI Z390-A PRO Motherboard with an Intel Pentium Gold Processor G5400 CPU @ 3.7GHz! Next added 64.0 GB DDR4 3200 Ram! Also a ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1 Video Card! Recently upgraded all my HHD's with an Intel 660p Series M.2 1 TB SSD Drive C and two WD I TB internal SSD's! My Computer now boots up completely for a cold start in 30 seconds!!!! (Once in a while when I turn it on, it Boots into the Bios Screen)!!!(But when I wont to boot into Bios, no matter what key combination I press it wont go into Bios on Command)! Windows will not display on my Digital Monitor but I can see the Bios Screen on another HDMI Output to my 32 inch TV! Am running XMP Mode and Gaming Mode on the MSI along with allocating 3/4 of my Ram to Process my Adobe Premiere 2022! My Question is: How do I get the computer to Boot into Windows EVERY TIME? And secondly, How do I get my computer to boot into Bios on command?

    I appreciate the time and effort went into making this video however whoever wants to learn repairing motherboards is not gonna learn from this video that's for sure. I'm not completely beginner so about 95% of the time I could understand what's he talking about but he did a lot of unnecessary things/measurements/explanations which does more harm than good. Another thing is he completely reliant on the boardview file so what happens when there is no boardview file or schematic diagram for the motherboard? Or if we have to repair a VGA? He won't know what those 32789 ic's do on the pcb. All in all this tutorial was 90% good for this specific motherboard (MSI H61M-P21) and 10% good for every other motherboard on the planet. Lot of time went by explaining what those ic's do based on the boardview file. A more universal approach would've been much more informative.

    It's crazy how he knows the components' order of operation and how everything is expected to work. You have to take a lot of notes in this video but it looks to be complete to help diagnosing other boards as well. I'm trying to find a fault on a z97-Ar v1.00 from asus that shuts off immediately after starting. But if you disconnect 8pin CPU power cable then it doesn't shut off. I removed the inductor connecting 12v to the mosfets and with both cables connected it doesn't shut off. So the problem lies somewhere in the mosfets of the cpu supply. I'm still trying to pin point it. It might be a bad pwm ic

    • @Crystalservices
      @Crystalservices Год назад +3

      First you should check mosfets for shorting by removing processor.

    I'm proud your experienced to troubleshoots a dead motherboard. That's the most underrated and comprehensive boardview of that moboard component part operations video tutorial ever so far. But I need help a quick question my friend about my Asus P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard. This is my first time trying to resurrect/repair my dead motherboard. Only certain part I repaired and changed/replaced already the (1) BIOS chip, (2) capacitors, (1) IC-driver controller to mosfet, and (2) transistor mosfets (negative side body) near side of the CPU processor. I have the PTi9 LCD PCI Diagnostic Analyzer Tester...indicates LED lights of +12V, +5V, +3.3V, and Reset are good (lights on) & fan runs means no problem on transistor Mosfets anymore as I double tested too that 12Volts are running good designed to run CPU processor. But the PTi9 LCD PCI Diagnostic Analyzer tester still telling me that there's signal error, it says check the CPU and power box (power supply is tested good all +12V, -12V, +5V & +3.3V) and the other two indicates that RST and FRAME are both Invalid shows in PTi9 tester. Also I'm seeing LED lights of FRAME, IRDY, and SYSClk are off, it shows in the PTi9 PCI Diagnostic Analyzer tester. I have the "Boardviewer" software (to see the schematic diagram of P4P800-E Deluxe board) that I clicked the CPU drawing part and looked at the RESET, looked at the motherboard then tested the Resistor that is soldered/connected on negative side that the value is correct that has no problem. The two pin reset (for the button reset) doesn't work when I pressed the button. If you have time, please try to look on the Boardview in part of the RESET pin because it's not working. I don't know about that FRAME & RST where to troubleshoot that. I touched the CPU processor it doesn't make any at least build up heat/warm. I tested the CPU processor from my other Asus motherboard, it's running fine. What part of the motherboard should I trouble shoot on that P4P800-E Deluxe? This part I'm lost already. I need help, any idea? Great help would be appreciated so much.
    Here's what I did, I plugged one 1GB stick ram, 3V battery button, fan for CPU, plugged-in the PTi9 Post Diagnostic Analyzer Tester, unplugged CPU processor and 12V-4-pins, then plugged the 20-pin power supply, then turn it on, everything runs even though it's unplugged CPU and 12Volts-4-pin. On the tester it shows LED lights on at the +12Volts, +5Volts, 3.3Volts, RST, CLK, except FRAME, IRDY, and SYSClk. So, it means the issue is at the Power Block of CPU because CPU doesn't build up warm/heat. Problem is still don't know where is the one that doesn't provide either the +5Volts or 3Volts or 1.2Volts. Intel 82865PE MCH Chipset build up its own heat but it has its own original heatsink since P4P800-E Deluxe was built in & sold in the market.

    Good tutorial, but this is a lot of work and time. I wish you could solve the puzzle of the server boars ASUS KN8 DRE dual socket 940. This motherboard is known for being difficult to get logo or boot screen, even brand new unboxed. people say the problem comes from the ECC DDR400, it requires a very specific type of Ram and places it in a specific order to get video output on the screen. when you switch the motherboard on, the green led light on, the fans spin, but you get no video output
