    Sleeping in a cab the very first thing I sorted was a padded blanket to use as a bottom sheet and three home pillows and a proper duvet. NEVER EVER EVER use a nasty shite sleeping bag.
    No matter what, having a real bed with a real duvet and real pillows is the most vital piece of kit you could have.
    It makes a huge difference to your quality of sleep and all round well being

    Hi Luke. I started tramping a couple of months ago. Very nervous to begin with but, getting into it now. Because I'm used to being a day driver I've got a few infringements with driving hours. Still learning and enjoying it. I do find myself chatting away like you do. Great vids mate.

    Just a tip from someone who's been driving for years. Not sure if it's how the camera picks it up but you need to be much more smooth with your braking. It extends the life of the brakes/tyres keeps your load more secure and makes you look a lot more professional.

    I just came off the tramping last month. Done it for 3 months on the tippers class 2, thought it was cool at first but it really wasn't worth it for me. I would only ever do it again for the Minimum of £700 a week after tax plus expenses paid for and a decent truck. Noting less.

    • @1100HondaCB
      @1100HondaCB 6 лет назад

      I don't blame you mate. I have class 1 and class 2 but still driving buses. Like you, I would only do it for decent money. The HGV industry are short for drivers because lets face it, the industry is not great. Conditions are dyer and pay isn't as good as it should be. I did a bit of class 2 work for Palmer and Harvey last year and the work was 4 day weeks, 12 hour days which suited me fine as sometimes rest days were 4 in a row (similar to the buses). What annoyed me was it was contracted 12 hours and they expected me to work sometimes 15 hours a day to which I disagreed due to safety reasons. It's stunts like these that HGV companies do that make conditions grim. Also the pressure I was under to do deliveries by a set time was not good. No wonder drivers were having accidents.

      Johnny Cage are the wages not good? I have been looking at jobs for hgvs at 20 pounds an hour and like 45000 per year. Are those all lies or do they have a catch to em? I am thinking about leaving the taxi trade and get a hgv licence.

    Cool, yeah Above you (the bridge) is the tool bridge that takes you straight into the city centre of Southampton. A good fish & chip shop in woolston if you stay in the spot in the near future is called Lawrence's fish & chips. Walk upto the crossroads, look out for the subway (same side) last shop on that road before Lidl store mate 🙂 or woolston kebab centre is also good too

    That hat is a bump cap...good for working in lofts and places where you might bang your head, but no good for use on site where stuff could be dropped on you from a ladder or crane. If you look at a hard hat there is air space above the webbing which provides some impact protection as it allows the hat to deform :)

    Thank you alessander boffey 👍🏻 yes I am using the driving theory 4 all at this moment it was included in my cpc package with the hgv training centre I passed my practical test with :) what I am having problems with is the learning side or that website there are so many questions regarding eu rules cmr notes tachometer and much more in that 1 section are they part of the real test ? Or am I am I studying the wrong part of that site ? There is a case study part in the next chapter I have no problems with using it and find it easy I'm just not sure on what part / parts if both ? I should be looking at in order to pass the online test ! I will be honest I don't have a clue about what half of the read ups are about or mean ?

      In the UK, you get Day drivers and Tramp drivers. Day drivers basically get to go home every day. A real example that I have done of Tramping would be getting loaded on Sunday afternoon at HQ, then parking and sleeping somewhere near your first drop. Complete 6 drops on the Monday, park and sleep near Tuesday's first drop. Complete another 6 drops, park and sleep near Wednesday's first drop. Complete 2-3 drops, then drive back to HQ. Have a couple days off then back to work on the Sunday afternoon again.

    Hey Luke. Been watching since I started my road to HGV in February, love the vlogs. Got my training and test for class 2 week after next. Excited and nervous but can't wait. Been a lorry driver is what I've always wanted to do. My dad travelled Europe for work and I've always wanted to follow on from him. I've been working as a multi drop driver for UPS the last 10 years using long wheel base sprinters. I'm well in need of a change now as the industry has changed for the worse too much recently. I'm Concerned about getting HGV work before having experience though! How easy did you find it getting work at first and what kinda pay can I expect when I first start doing it? My Class 1 is already paid for so I'll be going for that asap after (if) I pass class 2, but I want to leave my current job sooner rather than later, so class 2 work is my aim at present. The end goal long distance continental driving.

      Luke C in a HGV i had a small part along with my old blue transit van (the one in my profile pic) I played a rogue van man called MIKE HUNT in a movie called I, Daniel Blake. A lot of my scenes in that movie been cut out like the scene my on screen colleague johny 'kick doors' down and I gone to collect payment from Hayley. And a sex scene lol

    my mate does tramping and he operates as ltd and he gets 1200 a week. His book keeper does a magic and he pays no tax.

      I take it through an agency? Is it only worth going 'LTD' when you're sort of guaranteed work? Or is it worth doing when you might only get 1-2-3 days some weeks?

      is he ?? Income tax is most ineffective tax this world has ever seen. If you have more in pocket you will spend more in shop and make economy better

      he works 5-6 days a week for last 3 years. Truth is that it's not at the same company tho
