I'm looking around for a night trunking job for my first dip into the class 1 pool. Hats off to you mate, takes a lot of balls to start on your first artic gig, I'm bricking it! Sure it will all be fine once I get into the swing of it.
Know exactly how u feel having wait around -I work in a factory n used have wait for stuff come out oven to be offloaded after being painted used be so boring having wait so changed job now wash all items in giant pre treatment plant before they painted n days so much more busy hardly ever hanging around waiting now -keep up good work mt 👍
Luke, I use truck parking Europe app on my phone. It has loads of locations on there and if it's not on there you can add and post them. Also get some bedding on, it will make you more comfy bud. It takes a while to get use to living in the cab and to get it set up how you want/like. Keep up the good vids. Have a good one.
The joys of being a tramper , tried it, hated it, no clean toilets or showers, a prisoner has more room and better facilities. Got a job with Royal mail, 9 hours work and then home 🏡.
Yeah I dont know how they do this long haul stuff, I need to be in the comfort of my own home after a hard days work, you feel like you are at work 24/7 doing this stuff. I want to know do you park up close to toilet facilities overnight because surely thats not always possible so what do you do, helicopter behind a bush?
I'm having an operation to be an ostrich. It should all be completed by the end of next year. From that point I will be strutting around public toilets at night. I'm having my arms amputated, feathers glued into my body, silicone implants and tattooing on my feet and legs and a beak grafting to my face. All the operations will be carried out by surgeons in asia and south america. Look out for me. I will be offering various services. Which public toilets and laybys do you recommend?
I've been thinking of doing this, I'm doing my licence soon, quick question, do you get paid per hour that you are out of is it just driving hours you get paid for?
Hi Buddy. Past my Class 2 yesterday :) Watching you and Trucker Jay, just makes me wanma get on the road right now! haha. Got recruitment ringing Monday so hopefully i get something quick
My father said the same haha 35 years of Class 1 and hes sick and tired of it. I get that it will wear off at sometime and then il be sat in traffic shouting haha
On your way back did you notice the cost of taking a hgv over the itchen bridge its shockin nearly went over that by accident we go too the factory opposite the yard your loadin at.
Its the waiting that really messes things up, you leave the yard with a number of drops and think that's ok I should be back by tea time, but you can bet your bottom dollar that the last one always goes pear shaped and totally screws your plans for the evening or even getting home. I stupidly followed my truck sat nav for a delivery in Southampton only to find myself at the barrier for the toll bridge, £25+ for an artic! I asked the lady if they took cards, she said "Do you really want to pay £25?" Obviously, I said not really, she said that she would lift the barrier, then follow the bus lane out into the street you've been on, turn right, then right again, back up to the main A3024. Phew! Nice lady.
Nice vlog, mate. An idea: could you start each vlog with a pic of your truck+trailer? Don't know how often you switch those, but this trailer is already different from the port-a-cabin trailer ;)
The fact you were waiting around due to lack of organisation is the reason this country is the way it is. This country is falling apart because people just don't care. This is also the reason why I am reluctant to due this sort of work. I have an ADR in tankers as well and would love do fuel drops to filling stations.
There’s a vlog from a Canadian trucker Namely Trucker josh, and his moto is HURRY UP AND WAIT! Maybe that hanging around is systemic in the trucking industry... Liking the Vids and good luck with your new job…
As you said you've got amazon prime etc can you do a Amazon fresh test to see if you can get groceries delivered to your truck lol eg coffee milk etc and as deliveroo can get takeaways delivered within 30 mins or so etc can you get deliveroo takeaway delivered to trucks? I'm not sure if it's possible yet but it will be soon which will make it much easier for truckers in lay by 's with no facilities or food etc
I'm the same when it comes to waiting round mate! I'm on tanks now so there's MASSIVE amounts of waiting round...just about starting to get used to it 😂 although I'm on hourly pay so I just try to think of the £££££
i have just started class 1 work this week with no lorry driving experience previously and i know how you feel about waiting around. i had one place this week in hull i went to and sat there for four hours ! and because im new to the job i dont take anything with me so had nothing to do but sit for four hours ! soo bored
I give you three months before your sick of it...the truck drivers dream is in reality a nightmare.... You are now fully qualified to be treated like crap... Good luck... Plenty of day work out there.....
Luke, I've been watching your tipper vlogs, and driving class 1 days myself since April. I was expecting this a little mate. The waiting around is the BIG down side of driving. I do 12 to 13 hour days, with 6 to 8 hours driving so that is 4 to 6 hours waiting every day. it's crap.....and I get home every night....Tramping would just make it an whole lot worse for £100 extra.....
I didn't know you cant get out of the cab, I was just thinking I would go stretch my legs while they load me but I guess not. Just jump into the bed thats what supermarket drivers do when they have a hour to wait.
GrahamsLife24 at the quarries you can't even get out to put the cover over the trailer, everything has to be automatically operated from the cab because of Health and Safety
Did this job for years, and apart from the friends I made, the job is shit!......everyone chewing your arse......customers, bosses, police, weighbridges . There's not a lot of upside to being a truck driver.....honestly, if you're thinking about it.......think harder!!
I would do tippers. I did multi drop for P&H until they went bust. It was good all the time I knew where places were and had nice customers but it was shit when they sent me all over the place and expected me to do 15 hours work in 10 hours and then had to deal with shitty customer. I use to treat them the way the treated me. I wouldn't take any shit from anyone. They need their stock but I can always refuse to off load it if the give me abuse. My boss at P&H told me that. Shame they went bust as the managers there were great guys. Some of the drivers there were fantastic too.
You look shattered mate. Try & take it easy mate. I hate waiting about too. Boss gives me a telling off but what can you do? I told him he can drive the bloody truck if he can do better. He declined of course
any truckers watching this could possibly help me ? passed my test couple year ago but only started using my license last week.. situation is i stopped near a canal for my 45 min break (it was a suitable place) and 32 mins into it an ambulance and fire engine pulled up and needed me to move cause some smackhead had been beat up and stuck under bridge or something... anyway i moved which obviously put me back onto driving time and cut my break short. 30 mins was recorded. should i have started my 15 mins part again or should i have taken another full half hour ???? i did the latter but im not sure which is right
Hoogstraten depends where it is in waiting. At the place where I'm being loaded? No, because they pay my boss to do the work. At the place I'm delivering too? Yes. Well.. I assume so. I put down when I arrived and when I leave the site
Some get use to it others dont I'd find things to do, watch, Netflix( able to download these days better then when I was driving), read books, audio books, word puzzles for being on the road that's the norm hurry up and then wait. I'd find truck stops on your routes.
Luke, You should not have to sit their with your engine running to build up the air (unless you’ve been using it with the engine off to constantly go up and down in your seat, blast the cab with an air gun or blow up a tyre or plastic sheep). You have now inadvertently informed VOSA/DVSA that you are driving around with an air leak on your tractor unit or trailer ! (which you can be prosecuted for). Bit of advice: Use your mirrors a bit more and concentrate on your manoeuvring rather than the talking (we all know men can’t multitask !). Cheers.
+TheRockgod23 no longer driving that cab and all is okay 👌 thanks for you input As a side note, it’s very hard for you to tell when I’m not looking at mirrors when you, yourself can’t even see my mirror. All it takes is a quick glance and with my very good peripheral vision it’s done very quickly 👌
+Geordie Lad off course I checked it, I checked a lot of things. But I'm not gonna sit there and list everything 😂 You've probably taken a shit today but you haven't said... 👌
Yes I have taken a shit today in my stoma bag that's, as I can't through my ASS because it's been removed. Part reason I don't drive HGV or PSV anymore after 20yrs HGV driving.... With your attitude young man karma is coming your way and I hope you vlog it
I didn't see any constructive criticism. I saw a question with a presupposed self-determined answer and enough question marks to make even that accusatory. The only karma knocking about here is Luke C treating the 'question' with the flippancy it deserved. Having watched a few of his vids and seeing his character, I'd also suggest the intention behind the comment was probably one of comedic value and not 'attitude' but it is understandable that one should interpret the tone of written text that way, especially if your baseline is one of attitude itself :) Love you.
Luke remember to get that POA IN. WHEN YOU ARRIVE. ASK HOW LONG YOU ARE GOING TO BE. THEN IT'S ON THEM. NOT YOU. ALSO . JUST REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE PAID BY THE HOUR. AND IF THERE TAKING THE PISS THEN YOUR NOT PAYING FOR IT. ALSO POA STANDS FOR (PAID ON ARRIVAL). GOOD LOOK WITH THE JOB. RUSS IN HILLAM NEAR LEEDS YORKSHIRE.UK. ALSO IF YOU GET TO ANY OF YOUR DELIVERY ADDRESS BEFORE CLOSING TIME. ASK IF YOU CAN PARK IN THE YARD. THAT WAY YOUR THERE ALREADY. RUSS
POA does NOT stand for paid on arrival, it stands for period of availability. A completely unnecessary option to take as it means your company can squeeze more work out of you for less money.
Luke C in a HGV how many woods are there? Don't hold it in very bad for you. Causes constipation which will lead to piles or fissures, (or both) later on. You'd think they'd take the passenger seat out and put a porta Loo in. You've got enough window blinds !
Luke you need a better diet especially doing the lorries lifestyle every time I see your watching it’s pure junk food and pop drinks not a good look considering your a big dude as it is
Lift that middle axel up Luke. It will stop the wheel spin. It will automatically go back down when you usually go over 19MPH
Daniel M Turner thanks for the advice mate
I'm looking around for a night trunking job for my first dip into the class 1 pool. Hats off to you mate, takes a lot of balls to start on your first artic gig, I'm bricking it! Sure it will all be fine once I get into the swing of it.
You're killing it mate, keep it up. You have a perfect job! We all get days like this
From your trucking brothers across the pond here in the u.s.a. great video
Cracking vlog as always hope you don't have to many days like this one
Know exactly how u feel having wait around -I work in a factory n used have wait for stuff come out oven to be offloaded after being painted used be so boring having wait so changed job now wash all items in giant pre treatment plant before they painted n days so much more busy hardly ever hanging around waiting now -keep up good work mt 👍

We in asia still dark at 5am..and we here give the forklift driver some little money for doing it fast..
How many nights away from home do drivers typically do tramping?
Great videos Luke, weird seeing you in my neck of the woods. you went passed where I live junction 10 m27 😀👍🏻
The next time you are waiting to be loaded, tell them you're going to sleep. That usually does the trick.
I'm like you, i hate waiting around. It used to frustrate me so much.... but now i have netflix on my ipad and I can't wait enough 😉
you know what? i am glad you said this. I am in the middle of getting my HGV licence and your comment is very useful, thank you
Me too..but i play game or bring laptop n guitar for waiting..truckers is about patience..or you just sleep with leg up the steering..
The joys of being a tramper , tried it, hated it, no clean toilets or showers, a prisoner has more room and better facilities. Got a job with Royal mail, 9 hours work and then home 🏡.

Goober tuber where ever there's a tree there's a toilet ;)
John Richards.., driving class 1 for Royal Mail?

That will soon wear off mate, trust me 😊
My father said the same haha 35 years of Class 1 and hes sick and tired of it.
I get that it will wear off at sometime and then il be sat in traffic shouting haha
The waiting around at the Heathrow sheds at the horse shoe is beyond a joke.
Feel ya pain man
† SiNNEЯ † you can say that again. Used to spend the whole day at british airways world cargo too. Glad i dont do air freight now
there is a saying in driving" hurry up and wait " if you don't get used to sitting around your not going to have much fun Luke
On your way back did you notice the cost of taking a hgv over the itchen bridge its shockin nearly went over that by accident we go too the factory opposite the yard your loadin at.

Enjoyed your vids luke. Best luck with job
It is total lunacy to keep people waiting it makes goods more expensive through their lack of a system
Hi Luke, enjoy your videos. How do you do the video with you and seeing you driving? is that a software or your camera? Thanks!!! Bryan in the U.S.

GBS GBS no truck driver does their proper daily checks
I didn't know you cant get out of the cab, I was just thinking I would go stretch my legs while they load me but I guess not.

I would do tippers. I did multi drop for P&H until they went bust. any truckers watching this could possibly help me ? passed my test couple year ago but only started using my license last week.. situation is i stopped near a canal for my 45 min break (it was a suitable place) and 32 mins into it an ambulance and fire engine pulled up and needed me to move cause some smackhead had been beat up and stuck under bridge or something... anyway i moved which obviously put me back onto driving time and cut my break short. 30 mins was recorded. should i have started my 15 mins part again or should i have taken another full half hour ???? i did the latter but im not sure which is right
another ful 30 minutes is what i would have done. 15 minutes wouldnt have been enough for the tacho.
good i did right then :D
djwynny You're probably going to prison mate, you could be lucky though and end up with community service !
Do you get paid for waiting around or does that not count?
Hoogstraten depends where it is in waiting. At the place where I'm being loaded? No, because they pay my boss to do the work.
At the place I'm delivering too? Yes. Well.. I assume so. I put down when I arrived and when I leave the site

OK then, it was just an observation and I'm only trying to help.....
I know you was. :)
Why did you NOT check you fifth wheel when you woke up ????
What if some prat unhooked it and the you drove off with your trailer on the deck.......
+Geordie Lad off course I checked it, I checked a lot of things. But I'm not gonna sit there and list everything 😂
You've probably taken a shit today but you haven't said... 👌
Yes I have taken a shit today in my stoma bag that's, as I can't through my ASS because it's been removed.
Part reason I don't drive HGV or PSV anymore after 20yrs HGV driving....
With your attitude young man karma is coming your way and I hope you vlog it
By the way if you can't take constructive criticism then don't show your driving
I didn't see any constructive criticism. I saw a question with a presupposed self-determined answer and enough question marks to make even that accusatory. What truck are you driving
jackyp59 Luke is driving a MAN TGX
Are u on salary or payed by the hour
salary
Luke C in a HGV
Bosses love salaried workers, especially in transport........don't let them take advantage of it Luke.
Luke C in a HGV the the the the 0
Wheels ain't earning unless they're a turning...... (in most cases)...🦃💩
Fuck sleeping in lorries that’s long 9/10 shift and home no more than 200 daily mileage
Hard life?
i can see where a "nosed" truck/lorry wouldn't work on your runs
Hi Luke try to drink more water mate try to eat healthy your job unfortunately won’t be too good for your build mate
RUSS
Just make sure you ask when they open so you dont get locked in and miss your 1st drop LOL.
POA does NOT stand for paid on arrival, it stands for period of availability. A completely unnecessary option to take as it means your company can squeeze more work out of you for less money.
What do you do if you need a shit and there's no toilet nearby?
+tinpot1978 either hold it in or take a shit in the woods 😂
Luke C in a HGV did pack toilet roll for those woods? 😂
tinpot1978 two rolls on the bunk bed 😉
Luke C in a HGV the image of you squatting behind a tree with a toilet roll at the side of you will stay with me for some time 🤣
Luke C in a HGV how many woods are there? Don't hold it in very bad for you. Causes constipation which will lead to piles or fissures, (or both) later on. You'd think they'd take the passenger seat out and put a porta Loo in. You've got enough window blinds !
I gotta rate a guy for sleeping in a truck so much. I love my bed and my nights at home with family. I guess its good if your single though i guess.
luke i never knew u were a leftie
MATT NATION lefties all the way
yep luke
What a terrible way of life :(
Luke you need a better diet especially doing the lorries lifestyle every time I see your watching it’s pure junk food and pop drinks not a good look considering your a big dude as it is
