can you show us the wiring for the leds and the sequential turn signal? It looks great!
Just a tip, if your silicone smells like vinegar then it is acidic and not great around metal or electronics. You might have trouble weeks, months or years later with corrosion from that if it is acidic. A safe sealant would be Permatex Ultra-Black RTV. There is also "The Right Stuff" but it is not said to be sensor safe. That Ultra-Black RTV is sensor and electronic safe, non-corrosive and re-workable (meaning you can remove it if necessary). You could even pot the back of your LEDs or circuit boards with a small amount and remove it later if you needed to. Test it out, it works.
Epic thanks for the info. I will use it on the next one.
Are you saying that all the rtv mechanics use to seal the oil pan are "not great"?
@@arva1kes Well, I guess the weight of the transmission would be fine on the pan for some transmissions, but the number of transmission bolts doesn't even come into play here as it is the entire pan transferring the force directly. And some transmissions, like the NAG1/722.6, they don't use RTV, they have a rubber gasket that will be destroyed if you apply too much force on it. I think the clamping force of the 6 bolts is 8Nm... about 6ft/lbs... An older gasket certainly won't survive, especially if you distribute the 300lbs transmission weight unevenly. Maybe a newer one can but that is a lot of weight on a rubber gasket even if the load is distributed around the perimeter evenly.
I put on 2 MP8 pan today, 18ftlbs20°. I lace all corners, and the furst one got a thin 3/32Ish line all Round as it felt a BIT smoother than I prefer. But at 3-400$ each. They get reused until it takes a fat blade to remove, or get seriously injured otherwise.
@@arva1kes hey, I think I got mixed up on what the original post was so my last reply was probably not making any sense. The RTV that mechanics use is fine but you need to pay attention to its intended use. Any RTV or silicone sealant that has a vinegar smell is not safe around electronics. Some of them will start to smell as they set but Ultra-Black RTV is sensor safe and electronics safe.
The removal of the reflector was gangster! The finished product is incredible! Excellent quality work.
the wiring for the turn signal would be a dope second video! great video I like the way you did everything and explained the process well.
I'm not a fan of chrome accents on cars, especially newer ones but THIS... this is *chefs kiss* magnificent! and it has an exotic look of depth to it!
Thanks. I wanted something that gave the lights a little bit of 3D depth and didn't look flat sitting on the light
Awesome job! Clean and perfect fit, you must be an engineer. Thanks for sharing your work.
This video was absolutely amazing and well executed and with awesome illustrations showing all the steps and techniques and supplies necessary for the project.
Also you gave warnings of the dos and don’ts so that all the steps come out correctly without any issues.
It is also quite obvious on a project like this especially if it is your first time at trying something like this that you should take your time
and always double check before trimming or cutting or drilling holes make sure by double checking as you did so that you have a good outcome with the end product.
Absolutely an incredible well thought out and executed video one of the best I have seen on RUclips.
They look awesome. Makes me want to go pull the tail lights off my parts car and tear them open and makes me wonder what I might be able to do to make the headlights match. So many ideas now lol.
Be sure to post what you come up with. I would like to see. I have a few ideas for the headlights next
@@illusiveinu ill definitely let you know whatever I come up with.
That turn signal blew me mind! Amazing!
Everything looks so damn well made to a point I thought you made the new covers not sanding them down and the best part was seeing how it turned this amazing from old nostalgic reflector looking covers into completely smooth transparent cover
I got to say, great job! you didn't have to go into detail like you did and it is appreciated!
Just discovered your channel, and watched this video first.... You're very talented my friend and the mods look sick ❤❤
First time viewer! 🤜🏼🤛🏼😎🍀🇦🇺
Really looks stunning in the end.
Awesome work and beautifully put into a tutorial.
I’m keen to sand and 2Pac clear the inside of my mk1 TT’s headlights.
I did the outside the same three years ago and they still look just as good as the day I painted them.
I am a fan of the 3000gt, finally I find a channel dedicated to them. I love it
Thanks. I some good things coming in for the widebody one
Love how the mind creates a 1 of a kind master piece ❤
Thumbs up...
I seriously don't know how you don't have more subs. Great content man. For real 🤙👍
I do appreciate it. I really enjoy this platform and have a love for crafting.
Outstanding tutorial mate, solid detail.
I love using that hvac ducting tape whenever possible 😂 lights turned out awesome! I learned a quite a few things that i look forward to using down the road. Thanks for sharing such a great tutorial 🤙
Absolutely love this type of diy 👌
Congrats on 1,000 subs! That’s a huge milestone!
Thank you 😊
I was getting ready for work and saw your notification pop up on my phone so I went to check.
It's a milestone I never really thought I was going to hit. This gives me a reason to push harder.
Nice work
Good Vid
Cool use of the sequential boxes with the signals
Great video. I love seeing these 3000gt. Back in the day the GTO was my go to car for most races in Gran Turismo 1 and it holds a special place. Though I don’t ever see myself owning one.
You are awesome and truly inspiring, thanks for sharing and explaining into detail. Your Gt is really cool with those epic lights well done 😊
Thank you 😊
Bro.... this thing is looking sicker every single video!!
Thank you. Should have the hood and wing on next. Then it's off to paint. I may also have a mountain of engine upgrades stacking up for a rebuild.
@@illusiveinu lol may or may not huh
@@jonathanhaynes5365 quite possibly may ;)
That is just awesome stuff man!!
This is clean...Nice build love the cyber punk twist on the tale lights Liked
Sick taillights bro. I feel a bit more inclined to try this myself now thanks!
Love this! Currently rebuilding my tails for my 2003 Celica and looking for Inspiration. Also Nice to see a fellow Sneak Drinker! Subscribed!
Thank you 😊 you should show me your progress. And yes I love sneak. Drinking it now actually. It's $1 per serving and wakes me up fast.
NICE! Thank you. havent watched it all yet but will right now.
Hopefully the video helps
I have to tell you that was an amazing video. Your design process was extremely well thought out and looked amazing. The materials you use to create the tail lights were really well done I, especially like the stainless steel bowls. One thing I would have liked you to cover is how you made the turn signals sequential or did I miss that part? I really like that you took your time and you were very methodical with each process. Well done now as far as your problem. If you have a problem then I have a problem. I have three Subaru Vortex XT and the only reason I don’t have more is because I don’t have a longer driveway. And I will concede that you don’t have a problem if we can agree that I don’t have a problem!
Thats badass!
They turned out great
Great job dude I thought I wouldnt watch full video, bc it seems too long to watch for me, but I did Keep lighthing us :)
Outstanding Video, Very Informative!!!
Awesome video, it's great having the process explained in detail and being able to see almost everything unfold from start to finish! This is definitely inspiring me to make a custom set of lights for my car.
As one of the other comments mentioned however, it would have been great to see the wiring for the LEDs and how the electronics side of things works, though I do understand that could have made it quite a lengthy video.
Awesome work nonetheless, love the lights, and again a great video!
super clean
I love how beautiful it's coming out. After all this time... Finally I get to see how you wanted your 3K! Combat wing next video???
Pretty cool
Quality work, really well explained 👍😀
such a clean design and result
Thanks
Well done👏👏
Super impressive
Excellent!!!❤
Very nice work. Gives me some great ideas for my truck tail lights.
Glad it helped
They look sooo good😍
qim sure its been said already, but incredible skill and dedication to do this! kudos to you!! looks amazing!
Thank you so much
Very, very nicely done project. Thank you for the informational video.

Yeah, the inspiration is there! I have a 260Z that's been put on the back burner while I renovate my basement and garage but I hope to get back to it this winter!
I see a beautiful 260z every day while at work. Someone has one sitting in their driveway. It always brings a smile. Do you have big plans for yours?
looks great! i've been thinking about learning how to do this to my vr4, i might have to pull the trigger now :)
Yeah definitely try it. If you can find a junkyard set of lights to work with is good because if you happen to mess up you didn't damage your good set. And don't be scared to change your mind on how you want them to look because I did many time. Even now I want to add to them.
Nice work bro. I will be applying this knowledge to my MB CLK 550 sooner or later. I especially like the aluminum templates.
Omg these look nice.
Well done!
This is so damn cool! This is a huge inspiration for me as the aftermarket taillights I've wanted for my '78 911SC are always sold out. I don't even know if they make them anymore. I think I might try my hand at this at some point. Cheers, man!
Hopefully this helped give you the push to try making a set. I'm currently working on experimenting with making new lenses using a casting process. I would also like to play around with 3D scanning and printing of the insides.
@illusiveinu Oh hell yeah. Do you plan on making a video for that process? 3D priting definitely sounds like the way to go, but I'm assuming you'd need a higher res printer. What do you think would be the more effective option: a resin or filament printer?
Love your idea - videos!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Thank you
Great video definitely going to do it to my 3000, been thinking for a year now what can I do to the tail lights , now I know. I also like how do you represent the DIY guys that actually do custom work which is different than the bolt on boys 😂😂
Thank you. And yeah I love digging into DIY. I learn from watching others build. So may great people online have given me the ability to try making things for myself.
Great job! Congratulations from Brazil
Thanks 😊
Very ingenious design and detailed tutorial. It's amazing you sourced everything to fit inside those cup holders. Nice car too. I didn't even realize it was a Mits because those flares change the look so much. Pretty sick if you ask me. I'm looking for a tuner for my 6G75 swap into a 97' Montero if you know anyone. I'm hoping to complete it this spring.
Those look awsome
Sweet! 👍
That's sick!! 😊 I'm sure you get asked a lot where you got them? I wish I had more knowledge with wiring so I can make custom lights. Again, awesome job!
Killer vid. Thanks for not using subtitles and actually talking!
I can't hear very well, and appreciate subtitles lol.
Ya I’m also wondering about the wiring, you mentioned resistors as well. Badass tho man, looks insane
That's awesome!!
Thank you 😊
beaUTIFUL JOB..I got a kia k5 a few months ago and i am working on custom tails and a a custom driving light in the front..its got great looking lights as is but i got a few ideas..i gotta changed the driving lights in the front to rgb for sure and rears is an antire bar across the back i wanna do something cool with, maybe a rotating circle across the entire back with blinkers, etc.
We do not have a problem good job
this is a big help i have a 1999 eclipse rs i am fully rebuilding slowly i been looking for ways to change up my tail lights and stand out, i am also building a set of head lights with dual projection and custom led light bars and demon eyes nobody does eclipse customs i will be saving this video to watch a few times to help me walk threw my tail lights
You should show me once you make them. I had a 95 RS eclipse that I dumped alot of work into. You can probably get a good set of aftermarket lights and modify them.
wonderful
those are legit. i dont know how you have the patience to do this. wanna sell
these?
How do you have the sequential turn signals override the brakes?
I'd love to know because I plan on doing something like this to my own car.
I don't have a 3kgt but I have been looking everywhere for a way to do something like this for my starion and this video helped so much! I appreciate you taking the time to make this!!! Where did you get the 5mm LED's?
You could put an aligning notch in the jig so instead of try to measure led to led. Just a thought. Love the lights.
Very nice design looks magnificent total transformation you need to do all car types there's even a Web sight to get funds for theses types of business ideas I know you have the skills to put it all together good luck hope you go for it as you have shorly got it UPMOST BEST FOR THE FUTURE 😮😮😮😊😊
U should sell these! Great Work!!
Awesome
very cool👍
Great video man I have a set of lIght I’ll pay anything to make my 91 3000gt tail lights look like those. You think you can do it for me?
2 aint an problem 3 begins a problem 4th def a problem 5th sir i gotta say loved the true tutorial would love to know more about resistors and stuff cuz im thinking about making custom headlight for a couple of my cars and i definally need to know the seq turnsignals setup i thougth about a 2nd row with only 2 of each
nice lineup dude i got a red 92
that's cool
awsome vid wish i still had my gt how did you do the wiring adruno what
Would have loved to see the way you wired this up. Another video to show that or maybe just throw a diagram with part links in the description?
Awesome video, I’m brand new to cars and have a 98 3000gt base. Saw this and want to try it but know nothing about electrical work or wiring. Were you able to figure out a plug and play system yet?
I always hated this car 3000gt only cus it looked so good and fast but sounded like it had a 3 cylinder in it. But this guys 3000gt is awesome 🎉
What did you use as a controller so the lights know when to turn off and on and do the sequential.
Wtf bro, it's almost too clean the way the metal tins worked out. I've got a spectra5 that has bland tail lights and now I gotta find tins big enough hahahah that's how you know you did something right, you make people feel they too, can do something like this. Mad props bro.
I racked my brain on what I could use to give it a little bit of depth and trim and could figure it out until one day I saw the little cut holders being used in a couch arm rest and it hit me as that could work for my taillights. So now I have cup holders in my taillights 😄
Great video, i just wish you would have gone into HOW you wired the LEDs
Another great video Lucas. what sequential controller did you use ? amazon ? lol. love how it all came together bro. don't feel bad about the 3000GT collection, i have 3 spare s14s for my one daily, and 4 back up SRT4 neons for my daily lol.
The controller is something I built. You have a honey pot with all the s14s. Im looking to get one for myself but trying to find a good one can get a bit rough.
@illusive inu lol if you where closer to Jacksonville Fl I'm sure we could work something out for one of these rollers with a clean body and title lol.
Very good looking... But safety? The brakelight and the indicator light is to dim. Should be 3 times brighter at least.
What type of Led strip did you use? I want to try and build some tail light for my car and I want to make the whole light setup out of the led strips
Nice video, can you please make a video on how you wire the LED and all the wirings.. thanks in adavance
when i do a 3k conversion on my stealth r/t i will probably do something like this to my tail lights
Are you doing the full conversion with the rear quarter glass or the bumpers and side skirts? I love how so much can be changed around on this car from the different models and makes. It's like stealth 3000gt legos
@@illusiveinu I'm going to be changing just the bumpers I've designed a set of side exit exhaust for it to match the side skirts
Congrats man you won the 500 sub gift card giveaway. If you have Instagram link me your name so I can get in contact with you by DM.
A chaka chaka👍😸
Beautiful 3k and clean Job man! 👌
thank you
What voltage did you calculate the resistors for, 12V or something else like 14.7?
I thick it would look good and realy catch your eye if the three Xs would rotate when you hit the brake. Fill the centres with LEDs and use a light chaser to rotate the X.
Unbelievable. You're amazing. Wish you were my neighbor:) Why don't you sell these?
sub'd.. what type of controller did you use to handle the switching from parking/braking/sequential.
It's a custom made circuit board I made a few years back. I am making an updated video using a controller you can get online.
Do you think you can make me some for a 4th generation mitsubishi eclipse can't seem to find anything besides the illumistic kit online
Allow me to buy a done par of lights from you; mine is a 1995 VR4, so where did you get the wide body kit, please?
how does the wiring work?
and what happens when you both brake and signal at the same time?
The wiring is a hand made controller. I'm working on one that people can get online and program.
As for the brakes and turns. The turn signals have priority over the brakes. For example if the left signal was on the right brake would be lit when pressed and the left signal would keep sequence. Once signal goes off it acts as a brake again.
Que secuencial usaste?? Lo compraste en amazon por que no lo pusiste en la descripcion 😢😢😢
